I got the Maxi glide for my birthday because I would not stop asking my mom for it after seeing it on the informercials. It is NOT worth the money, it damages your hair more than straightens it. You are better off using a iron that you would iron your clothes with...NO joke..It FRIES your hair making it look dull and frizzy.. I have red hair and it used to be shiny and pretty now its falling out with each use...DONT waste your time and money on a LIE!
I am going to try the Sedu

I AM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN DESCENT AND I'VE USE STINKY, SMELLY PERMS AND PRESSING COMBS TO STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR. THE STINKY, SMELLY PERMS EVENTUALLY DESTROYED MY HAIR. MY HAIR WOULD BREAK OFF AND IT MY HAIR LENGTH BECAME EXTREMELY UNEVEN AND UNHEALTHY LOOKING.
WITH THE PRESSING COMB, IT WOULD TAKE ME TWO HOURS, AND MY HAIR WAS VERY GREASY AFTERWARDS, SO, I WOULD WASH MY HAIR NO MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK. SO I DECEIDED TO WEAR MY HAIR NATURAL.
LATE ONE NIGHT I SAW THE MAXIGLIDE ON TV. I'VE SEEN MANY CERAMIC HAIR STRAIGHTENERS, BUT WHAT MADE ME PURCHASE THE MAXIGLIDE WAS THE PROTECTIVE STYLING CHANNELS FEATURE WHICH HELP PROTECT MY SCALP AND SKIN FROM HIGH TEMPERATURES.
WELL, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, IT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR. I AM ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR IN 30 MINUTES, MY HAIR DOESN'T SHRINK IN THE HEAT, MY HAIR LOOKS AND FEELS HEALTHY, ITS SHINY AND NOT GREASY.
I JUST WASH, COMB OUT TANGLES AND BRAID WITH A LITTLE HAIR POMADE, BECAUSE MY HAIR DRY, UNBRAID WHEN HAIR IS DRY, THEN STRAIGHTEN. IT'S QUICK AND SIMPLE. AND MOST OF ALL, MY HAIR ALWAYS LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.
THANK YOU MAXIGLIDE

I have the curliest hair ever, the tightest curls imaginable, when I used to get my hair done st slaons, the second I walked out the door, my hair was curly again. Sounds familiar? Well than the Maxiglide is definitly for you. I have had my maxiglide for 2 years without any problems, and I go over my hair atleast once a week, even though its unnecessary, but if you go over it oo hard, or don't comb through your hair first, be prepared for damage. I barely tough the iron, and my hiar is straight, it used to take me nearly half and hour to get one section of my hair straight when using a regular flat iron, and over 2 hours in the salon to get my hair straight, but with this my hair is done in 20 minutes, and thats not exaggerating, and for all of you complaining, your obviously doing something wrong. But if this straightener can work for me, I'll put pix soon, it can DEFINITLY work for you!

I purchased the maxiglide all most a year ago and since them it has broke off all my hair. I put the it on almost the lowest setting possible and my hair still has damage. I will not suggest anyone buy this product. I have had to put extensions in my hair because of how much my hair as fallen out. DO NOT PURCHASE THE MAXIGLIDE!!! Sure it straightens your hair but at what cost!!! :(
I love the product

The Maxi glide takes forever to go through your whole head Oh yeah and it is pretty heavy too. I used it for about 8 months and over that eight month period my hair has broke off quite severely because of the steam and because it snags your hair as you flat iron it which is very annoying too. I sectioned my hair off in small parts but I still noticed that it was not straightening that well. I am very dissappointed in this product because it damaged my hair and was not all that cheap either. The Maxi glide also failed to straighten my root of my hair. I just brought a solia a few weeks ago and it actually straightens the root to the end of my hair. Trust me the SOLIA is worth the money! I am an african american without a perm and the SOLIA is quite impressive!
IT REALLY REALLY WORKS!

I have used my maxi glide for almost a year now... it is the ONLY thing that has EVER really straightened my hair to the point where I could wear it out of the house and not think i was a walking frizzball! I can straighten my hair in about 20 minutes. I am on the verge of buying a new one because I have used my maxiglide out! My Aunt is a hairstylist and was completely amazed at how easy and FAST the maxiglide worked to straighten my hair, which in the past takes over 2 hours! In fact she wouldnt give it back to me because she was having so much fun with it! Some things you buy on the infomercial really DO WORK! The only reason I am buying a new one is because the plastic coating has worn off and the cord is about to snap....but honestly this product has held up WELL... for the torture that my hair has put it through...I DEFINATELY RECCOMMEND THE MAXI GLIDE and will ALWAYS own one!
Hair club anyone?....

The maxiglide is extremely heavy and if you have as much hair as I do, then you will need to do the back- take a break- eat a protein bar, then do the sides and front. It gets hot ok and it does straighten, but it pulls out half of your hair and the steam actually creates dozens of split ends! By the time I got done, I needed a Rogaine chaser. It stinks too, and it's awful. The little ratty hair you have left will look great, if you dont mind it looking albeit malnourished.
It's not all that great

I got this flat iron as a valentine gift from my husband and its not that great. When I first heard about the maxi glide I was anxious and excited to get it. People would say that it would leave your hair straight and I Wanted my hair as straight as possible. But when i recieved the maxi glide and i used it didnt leave my hair that straight some parts were wavy and i had to keep on passing the iron on my hair several of times to get it straight(My hair has a mix of wavy & curls). My hair would frizz up after a while. Another thing to its annoying to keep refilling the water Evaporator thingy. It dries up quick. So i dont really like it and I dont recommend it.
straightens well, but....

I am of west indian descent with very think curly hair. My mother and sisters do as well. My mother purchased the maxiglide over a year ago and all four of us used it, and it worked great for me. My hair stayed straight until I washed it. As for my mother and sisters, it worked great for a while but soon their hair would frizz. After only a few months the ceramic coating started to chip off because of using other conditioning and styling products with it, and it is difficult to clean off the plates. She returned it twice and bought another one, so this is the 4th one to come through the house. Some hair does come out in the process of straightening but nothing gets my hair so straight. I'm torn, and I just think it works well for some and not too well for others. Two of my aunts own it as well; one in Florida and one in Boston, and it doesn't work for either of them. Maybe if they made some improvements to the design it would be better.

I also purchased the Maxiglide, and within a month the ceramic coating started to peel away. I called the 800 number on the box, and they refused to help me, told me I would have to wait 2-6 weeks for a replacement, they had to fill the orders that were coming in now so I had to wait. That did not sit well with me, so I searched for the Corporate office, and found the direct number, I took pictures of the damage, emailed them and spoke with a nice woman named Susan. I expalined everything to her, she overnighted a new one for me. All of a sudden, one night while I was home, Max himself called me, I asked him if he can explain why the item did that, and he could not explain, he kept beating around the bush, I told him, you are making millions of dollars on consumers, and we are the ones getting ripped off. I got an email from Susan, she told me that Max asked her to send him the straightbner I sent bak, to him so he can have his manufacturing plant explain why it peeled like it did, as of today, no one has gotten back to me about this, now my hair is more damaged then it ever was. My hair is breaking left and right, even when I use a comb, my hair just breaks, by the time I get done starighting my hair, I have a dust pan full of hair that fell out while using the straightner. I am now getting treatment from my hair dresser for the damage, I no longer use my straightner, and I intend to get my money back. Don't Buy this product, there can't be that many suckers in the world.

i had the maxiglide 2 times, and it broke a third time, it straightened pretty good, but it kept breaking on me, so now i have the sedu and i love it so much better, i look like i went to the hair dresser im african-america and i dont get relaxers, and people thougth i had got one, the sedu is more expensive but it has a higer rating than the maxiglide and in my opinion it does better, it gives me the salon hair look!!!!!!!!!!its worth the price ill put pics up next week!
I am so glad that I bought this. Thank you!

I watched the infomercial many times, but I was not sure if this was going to be a waste of money. I had an inexpensive hair straightener, which pulled and burned my hair (staying in one of the drawers untouched for months). My hair is not super thick or curly. It is shapeless and curvy in strange places. Finally, I gave in and bought the maxiglide. This thing is truly wonderful. The very first day I used this, I get about 10 compliments from different people about how good my hair looked or how nice I looked that day. Putting some effort into your hair really makes a difference in your appearance and maxiglide makes it easy. I wish I had this years ago.
Tips: For better results, do not squezee the machine too much or pull hard. Let it glide as explained in the infomercial. I sometimes but a little bit of frizz ease finishing creme after straightining my hair. It makes the hair look shinier and prevents any static.

Hi girls, as one of the key person in development & production of the Maxiglide, I am glad to have seen so many pages of reviews on folica.com. I must advise that for those we said the maxiglide fry hair, please be reminded that you CANNOT squeeze to glide your hair at all! If you apply too much pressure, it will NOT work and it may damage your hair as some said, this is the problem alot of people have on using this product. Further about the quality problem of Maxiglide, complaints of no heat, switch dials broke, steam mal-function. These problem were all addressed and improved from April 2006 onward. The Maxiglides on sale from April 2006 onward, are fully improved with additional safety too! We listen to our consumers out there and we continuously improve. Afterall, the Maxiglide have became one of most successful and revolutionary hair straightening product of all time, we are all enthusiastic about this! As for the pins (comb plate), some of you may not appreciate, but these 128 pins were strategically placed and patented, through a research of 5 years, and many testing, the only way to get them to do the magic is to follow our instruction of ZERO Squeeze Zero pressure!
This product maybe heavy, but it has all of the features and function you can find on all similar products in the market, we call this best of all in one, but weight is to be a give in.
Hope this product can continuous improve you your valuable comments, and Maxiglide will continue to improve in function and quality, and launch of new models in near future to come! Stay tuned!
Keep it straight!

I got this iron on december 06 and It was the best thing I had ever tried but after 4-5 month, is just didnt work as it used to, the blue light never stop blinking and later on it was not as hot as it used to be. If you really really take care of it it might work for longer. It's also kind of heavy and pulls your hair.
I love it!

I purchased this product about a year ago and I love it. I have very curly hair and it is the only straightner I have ever been able to use that will truly do the job. I did see feedback about keeping it clean and pulling your hair and I would like to say if you use it properly it will not pull your hair and all product need to be kept clean because the hairspray and other products used or the iron will stick to your hair and pull it. I you take time to learn to use is correctly you will get great results and it will take 1/4 of the time of a regular iron.
Love It! and all my friends have purchased it and love it too.

I purchased the MAXIGLIDE last year. When I first got it i was so excited it worked very good. the steam button was so annoying when you press it it makes this huge thing of smoke above your head and then your hair smells bad. after 4 months with the MAXIGLIDE it stopped getting hot. it just stopped working. MAXIGLIDE damaged my hair and it broke. but if you want a straightener for a couple months then this is your striaghtener.

The maxiglide is ok if you have fine hair. But not if you have THICK hair. It takes longer, Do not use the comb side will tear your hair OUT! It doesn't last long at all. I've had it for about 6 months. It doesn't get hot any more. If you use a gloss on your hair it leaves a lot of GUNK. It is very heavy too!!!!!
