okay but getting a new straightener

i got maxiglide last year around june and i really liked it. the only thing i didn't like was the long amount of time it took to heat up and how long it took to straighten my hair (my hair is thick, curly, and course). Even my sisters that have thinner hair than mine and more naturally straight said it took too long. About a month ago i turned on the straightener and 10 minutes later it was still heating up. i thought that was weird so i left it heating up. About a half hour later it was still blinking so i knew it was broken. My dad had to go back to the store and get a new one. this one is fine but i only like to use the two flat plates, not the combed one. I'm really tired of it taking me about an hour to straighten my hair so i wanted to get a CHI. then i was reading the reviews and it made me want a solia. im going to purchase one soon hoping for a lot better results than the maxiglide. it's okay but not the best.
Perfect flat iron and more!

My cousin was the first to try this product. I paid her a visit and couldn't believe the difference it made in her hair. I borrowed hers and fell in love! I had to buy one!
I am glad the reviews i read on the maxiglide didn't scare me from trying!

I was quite impressed by the demonstration of the maxiglide i saw on t.v. I was too late "ordering" it, so the next morning i searched the net for one. having recently "losing" my Chi (it died after 3 years of dedicated straightening!)i felt the maxiglide was a worthy replacement. after i placed the order, i went back and saw there were reviews from past/current maxiglide owners. although the good reviews far out-weighed the bad, i was a bit leary using the maxiglide once it was delivered! i read of hair being yanked out of my head, losing my hair, frying my hair.. etc.(my Chi fried my hair, as ANY high-heat appliance will over time! but YIKES!)but further reading of reviews, i picked up some good suggestions and i DID try the maxiglide! I LIKE IT! i have very thick AND corse hair the first try was of course experimental. i had to section off my hair in more sections than with the chi, but because of the larger plates, it still took 1/2 the time to straighten. combing your hair before and during is KEY! that way your hair doesn't get caught in the teeth and get pulled out! and here's a no-brainer! if your hair starts to get pulled? RELEASE THE IRON and start over! I liked the steam feature (that was hard for me to try because in cosmotolgy school i was told steam and naturally frizzy hair are ENEMIES!) but oh my gosh!! the ends of my hair finally straighten! the steam works! i only use the steam feature the "1st day" i straighten, and i usuall switch the plates from the teeth to the smooth after the 1st day as well. It is doing a great job so far, i just hope the maxiglide lasts as long as my Chi did! And now that it is entering springtime.. the humidity is coming!! will the maxiglide effects hold up??
awesome iron!!

I've tried it all and when I saw the infomercial, I knew I finally found what I needed for my kinky frizzy hair. I must admit, the iron sat in it's packaging for a few months because I dreaded ironing this mop on my head. I used the product yesterday, March 23, and I am so excited about the results, I want to work for the company and promote this product!!! It's awesome!!!!

Maxiglide the Best I've Ever Used

I purchased my Maxiglide about 3 years ago, and I absolutely love the results. I have thick hard to straighten hair and Maxiglide does wonders. It works on damp or dry hair. My hair has grown since using it. I no longer use regular flat irons. The teeth in the lower plate really makes a difference. Over time the paint on the lower paint peels, but it does not affect the performance of the Maxiglide in anyway. One more thing, the infomercial says it can not burn, but that is not true it can burn, especially if you are using the Steam feature. Always come down a bit on the hair before pressing the steam button. You can get burns when the Iron is in the highest setting, when placed against your temples. Be very careful and you can enjoy this iron, as much as I do.

I just wanted to let you know that I have never ever blow dry my hair until I tried this product. Maxi Glide has made me a believer.
This product was introduce to me by a co-worker and I loved what it did to her hair. I am so happy I no longer will have to have my hair straighten or even used those harsh chemicals.
Everyone has complimented me and I have mentioned to them you must try it it's the maxiglide. Right at this moment I am going to show my friend the Maxi Glide and I hope that she will buy this product.
I have so happy with the way it feels and how it sways and it's not frizzy at all. Now I can go out and not worry about oh how am I going to do my hair. For 40 years all I did to my hair were using curlers and even sleep with them so that I can make sure my hair will look cute has we say for the next day. But by the afternoon curls were gone and frizz appear.
You have no idea how happy I am and I want to thank you for introducing this product. I will not switch to any other blow dryer or curling irons. Maxi Glide is for me and I am one satisfy customers and I will spread the word.
Thanks

I have very thick and curly hair, the kind that frizzes. Every morning was a struggle to get it into a ponytail and I hated the response I got at the salon's when they saw how much hair I had when I went to get it blown out. When this product came out as an infomercial my best friend got it and after 6 months loaned it to me since I kept complimenting her hair. I was immediately hooked! I borrowed it 3 more times just to see if it was worth the money before I ordered it. I do my hair once a week - at first i felt it was a little heavy but I got used to it and i take very good care of it so that it can last me a long time. I wash and dry my hair and disentangle it before I begin and in a matter of 45 minutes my waist long hair is straight and healthy looking without any frizz and lasts a whole week.
not so fantastic

I got the maxiglide straightener for Christmas two years ago. At the time I had fairly long hair (about down to the middle of my back) and it worked okay, but kind of clunky. Over the summer I cut my hair & donated it. Now it's a little past shoulder length, and I can't even use the maxiglide anymore. It is horrible for short hair. It is also very heavy and awkward to use. Since it is so wide it is hard to get close to the root and leaves that dent in my hair from the heat of the irons.
My sister has long hair and when she came home from school she used my flat iron because she left her's at school and said it was "the worst straightening experience" of her life.
This straightener is definitely not optimal for people with short hair. It works okay on long hair, but still very heavy and hard to maneuver.
Hard on the hair.

I have very curly hair, and the tooth plate on the maxiglide is very hard on my hair. But after removing it and putting on the flat plate it worked really well. No curls!!!!!
Not for me

I have type 4a hair (thick coarse dry curly), and I found the Maxiglide to not only be too bulky, but the plate with the combs and the flat plate pulled out far too many hairs. Even with the instructions, DVD, etc. it's still not easy to use nor does it get my hair silky straight or shiny. It leaves the hair so unhealthy looing. I honestly believe that the SOLIA is one of the better flat irons, and I own one and recommend it to any girl with natural/non-relaxed hair to use a Ceramic or Tourmaline flat iron instead!
OK but didn't last

I bought the maxiglide when it was on the infomercial only. It was the best thing I ever did. I have the corioliss hi chi and more and this is the best. the price is great. when i dont have time I do it in my car. it is the best hair straightener. i straighten my hair while it is wet. it is easier than anything.. i hate to use my dryer. I love maxiglide it is the best on wet and dry hair. you won't be making a mistake by buying this. i have purchased a second one to keep in my car.
This thing is THE BOMB!

I was in Bed, Bath and Beyond and caught the video. Was not looking to spend $80.00. Figured I'd be returning the Maxi Glide the next day. Understand, I have lived with this "in-between" hair my whole life. A good friend once told me: "I just realized that you didn't know whose hair you'd be waking up with, either." Anyway, without being overly pushy, the store associate told me that I could bring the Maxi Glide wand back if I were not pleased. Got it home, and WHOA...I mean, it transformed the whole texture of my hair. Got to my 2nd job today, and a third grader yelled across the cafeteria, "Wow, look at Ms. Rich's hair!" I just had to go back and get the other stuff advertised inside the box; the stuff that helps hair fight humidity. It was $30., but I thought, "If it works anything like the Maxi Glide, lemme at it." Thanks. I just had to tell someone. Ciao, cj

I purchased my first maxiglide and loved it initially, but after about eight months it stopped working-the blue light continued to flash, and it wasn't really hot. I thought maybe it was because I had left it on too long a few times, so I purchased another and it did the same thing. I also noticed my hair started to break and it did alot of pulling. I had very healthy hair prior to using this product. My hair is very dry now, and am so annoyed that I continued to use it after the first one broke-this is a very damaging product with prolonged use. It really pulls the hair and causes breakage. I can guarantee the positive reviews were written only after a few uses, soon they will learn the problems that will occur. Do not waste your money on this iron.
Gotta have it!!

I love my maxiglide as you can see I'm Latina represent lol... I'm Puerto Rican and mixed with Spain. In pic 1 my hair is medium texture a little thick with lots of waves. I have wavy hair and a lot of it. In Pic 2 you see I used the Maxiglide I used Deer Park Water and I used V05 hairdressing in my hair it's about $3-5.00 you can buy it anywhere Rite Aid, Duane Reade, Wallgreens. I love V05 I haven't tried any of their new lines yet. I also used a little chi. No more hair Salons for me :D I love my smooth straight hair. My hair is excellent I can curl it when I want and make it straight when I want :D. I love the comb that comes with attached to the maxiglide it combs my hair for me and straighten it. People get real you are going to lose up to 4-5 hairs a day these are old hairs and they need to leave your head lol. Enjoy using Maxi I know I enjoy using Maxi. It's time you take a crack at using Maxi :D. I have saved a great deal of money using only Maxiglide it works wonders to my hair as you can see.

I love the maxiglide! The product worked great with my hair. I used to always wear my hair in a ponytail. I didn't like that my hair was frizzy and unmanagable. Now my hair is soft and smooth. I LOVE IT!!! You will too!

Extremely curly-haired Keri

My hair is extremely curly, I'm talking spiral curls. Nothing has ever worked on my hair, successfully that is. I've even tried chemically straightening it it only made it frizzier. This makes my hair straight and sleek. It has to be the steam burst and the ceramic teeth that's the secret because i have used the 'Chi' before, and even that didn't work. I would be the perfect spokeperson for their commercial, i'm tellin ya. They wouldn't have to exaggerate a thing by teasing my hair to make it appear frizzier than it is. I wouldn't be caught dead without any product in my hair when i wear it curly. A small amount of the Maxius products, Beyond Straight and The End, and it lasts for days!
