Wonder Straightener

This brush is 100 times better than a traditional flat iron. I had a flat iron that cost over $100 that doesn't come close to the job the MaxiGlide does. It takes a little practice to master the technique, but within a few minutes you'll be straightening like a pro, So don't give up. And the styles lasts better too, because of the steam. Compare it to dry ironing a blouse to steam ironing a blouse. I realize that anyone under 50 probably won't understand that analogy, but trust me - this straightener is the best I have ever seen.
Stick with what you have.

Missing her Chi

Honestly, I should have just bought another Chi. I am MUCH happier with my professional Chi iron. I received a combo package of Max's shampoo, conditioner, miniglide and maxiglide. It's a shame every single one of these products was horrible. The shampoo made my baby-fine hair coarse feeling, and the conditioner did pretty much nothing for it. The miniglide was horrible when I tried it on a shorter part of my styled hair. It left it frizzy and dry. The maxiglide itself? Horrible. The smell it emits is terrible when in use and it stays with your hair all day. I'd also like to note that my thin hair feels better when in use with my Chi iron as apposed to this monstrosity.
Like many have said, it's heavy, takes FOREVER to straighten hair (even shoulder length AND slightly wavy hair like mine), and requires a lot more maintenance to keep this product even semi working. It's a real let down.
I really wouldn't recommend this product, especially if you have fine hair. I think better results tend to occur for women who tend to have thick curly hair, or women who just aren't used to having their hair straight at least somewhat decently.
DO NOT BUY

THE MAXIGLIDE DID NOTHING FOR MY HAIR WHAT I WOULD USUALLY DO WITH ANOTHER STRAIGHTNER IN 30 MINUTES TOOK ME AN HOUR WITH THE MAXIGLIDE!!!
Not worth the price

I spent alot of money since it was suppose to keep your hair smooth in humid weather. I used this before i went out on a date on a humid night. i looked like a poodle at the end. This is a horrible product. It doesnt work very well and your hair gets caught if you dont use tiny sections. Hurts when you do the back of your head and cant see what your doing. Hot tools and rusk are so much better. dont waste your money on this garbage.
Actually, it works well

I was actually surprised that it worked as well as it did. I have very fine, very curly hair and I live in the (very humid) south. I have used a ton of products in the past (gels and irons), and have always had to take over 20 minutes to get hair that was smooth (but still looked a little ratty). I had finally decided that I would just go and pay for blow-outs at salons until now. It took 10 minutes and my hair looks very smooth. I am quite pleased.

I have curly hair and have had difficulty finding a flat iron that I can use to straighten my hair. The Maxiglide works so well, it looks as if I had my hair professionally straightened. It was the least expensive at Folica.com.
The absolute best!!

I have thick wavy highlighted hair and this is the quickest way to get my hair pin straight. I love that the it has a steam button and comb pins on the plates. It takes me 15-20 minutes to go from frizzy to smooth straight hair. I have tried the high end brands but returned them this is the only one that works for me! People always think that I had my hair professionally done. It is the best! I have been using it for years.

I love my Maxiglide. It is easy to use and very quick at straightening my entire head of hair in 5 to 7 minutes. I have just one other hair straightener and it usually takes me 3x the amount of time to get it done.
worst straightner ever!!!!

i was really excited when i first bought this i thought it would be good since i spent a good deal of money. but i was very disappointed. i brought it home and then found out u had to have special water or else it brakes. so ihad to go and buy that. After buying the water i used the straightener and found it worker "okay" but not well enough for my thick curly hair. eventually it pulled out parts of my hair and left my hair very very damaged. i woudl not recommmend this straighner for anyone. it a piece of crap.

I have the maxiglide and it works fairly well. As an African-American with no chemicals on my hair it doesn't get my hair as straight as they do in the beauty shop. I don't think the steam works well on really coarse hair and it does make my ends kind of frizzy. I don't think i would get this type of flat iron again =/
Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!

The maxiglide works great! It is a bit heavy but it helps you get stronger. People say ti pulls out your hair but all flat irons do that. It is one of the best things i have ever boughten!
The question is not if it works, but rather how far are you willing to make it work?

I was about to give this iron a 5 star rating, but after reading some of the reviews, and agreeing with most of them, I had to sit and rethink about it. my rating was only judged on how it made my hair look in the end, but there's more to it than that. I'm hoping to give you my honest unbiased opinion about this particular straightener because there are some things you should know when considering the maxiglide.
First off, this IS a good flat iron ... when you know how to work it. But if you approach the maxiglide like any other flat iron, you'll most likely end up damaging your hair. There is a specific way you have to use this iron for it to work like you see on TV. This is the problem I see when I read the other reviews. If people took the time to really learn how to use this iron, it's raiting may have been slightly higher.
I have curly multiethnic hair so its texture is somewhere in the middle between fine and kinky, perhaps leaning more towards fine. After I use the maxiglide my hair becomes so soft and shiny, and very healthy looking. I'm always catching myself running my fingers through my hair. It really improves the texture. my hair feels smooth even at the tips. So effective is the maxiglide that I could lower the temperature and not use any hair products at all (but that could be due to the finer texture of my hair. I wouldn't recommend that for kinkier hair). With all that being said, there are things that I began to notice about the maxiglide that are very much worth noting.
First of all, and the biggest, it stopped working! After about 9 months or so, the bloody half of the maxiglide (the side with the steamer) stopped working. And I find it interesting that this has happened to quite a few of the people on here. I'm starting to wonder if it's because people keep that little blue water container in after they're done using it. This may cause slight leakage if the button was accidently pressed in the bag by traveling per se, and because of how complexed this flat iron is it just might interfere with it working. But if that really is the case then they should explicitly note that. I remember reading not to keep the container in there after you're done using it, but it doesn't say why and it only very briefly mentions it. Some practicality issues there. Second, if your hair isn't that healthy to begin with, it just might make you hair worse. If you have brittle hair with split ends, don't be surpised at how much hair is in your sink. Now, your hair will look good at the end, but it'll break and pull your hair inthe process. This has mostly to do because of improper use though, having people -squeeze- the plates when they're supposed to only slighty press them together, letting your hair "glide" between the plates and stuff like that. Also, this maxiglide has the ability to get REALLY HOT, and because they mark the degree of hotness by a scale and not actual temperatures, you have to guesstimate the temp right for your hair until get a feel for what's too hot. This is important for how your hair will turn out, and is why if it's too hot you'll start to notice a smell, which is your hair cooking. Third, this thing is frikkin' heavy and awkward to use. If you want a good workout while straightening your hair, this is the iron for you. And you have to go slow for it to work well. Because it is heavy and you have to press a button to let the steam out while moving your hair through the plates, it gets very tiredsome and can a while for you to find a comfortable "flow". I had to keep alternating my hands, and since I'm not ambidextrous, it was really awkward using it in my left hand mainly because of the steam button. You get use to it after a while though. And lastly, the cord. Probably not THAT big of a deal, but considering this is supposed to be on the higher end of the flat irons [in other words you won't find it at Walmart], I was disappointed. It's not a swivel cord, so it tangled very easily. My cord is all twisted and warped. Maxius boasts about how complexed and intricate the maxiglide is, but he must've completely overlooked or disregarded this part. To be fair though, the cord is a good length.
So those are my biggest complaints. This really is NOT A BAD FLAT IRON, but it is so high maintanence, one has to wonder if it's worth going through the hassle to achieve the results it claims to achieve. I heard they improved the iron though so we'll see about that, although I couldn't get another one after mine broke so out of fustration I ordered a different one, the Solia, and that's been working great for me, although I wished I gotten the wider version.

My arm got tired and cramped up after straightening my hair because its kind of heavy...
Also it made my hair burning hot and emitted a foul odor.
It was a big waste of money.

I have been using my Chi for a few months and wasn't completely satisfied with the results. I searched for a better flat iron.
When I saw the infomercial for this, I thought it was "the one". I immediately ordered it and five days later it came.
I rushed to my bedroom and used it on my thick, curly, frizzy hair along with some good straightening products I had always used with my CHI. I did my whole head, which took about 2 hours. When I was done, my hair was like puffy straw. It took a lot of products to get it tame. But after dumping lots of stuff in my hair, it looked okay.
The next day when it was very humid out, my hair poofed out and was curly and frizzier than before.
I let my sister use it for a while and she gave it back 2 weeks later. When I tried to use it again, I stopped in the middle of straightening my hair because the smell got so bad.
I decided to put it away and never use it again. My sister was telling me that it didn't work good on her hair either.
This happened about 2 months ago. Yesterday I took it out to use it again and give it one more try, but it burned my scalp and it stunk up my room again.
I was disappointed in this iron. If you don't want to waste your money, don't buy it. But if you do buy it, be prepared for the awful burning smell and a big waste of money.
It is just awful.

it DOES work!!! i have the curliest curliest hair that anyone can possibly have and it worked. However, be careful, the steam CAN burn...did that a few times. so just be careful and it will work. it doesn't leave your hair feeling coarse or frizzy like someothers. I recommend it for ALL types!!
Pretty good

I have long, medium-thick curly hair and the Maxi Glide straightens my hair a lot faster and easier than the other irons. The only thing is, I think it dries my ends out more and causes damage faster. I guess it's becasue it does get pretty hot to get the hair straight so that means more damage... I try not to use it too often to avoid wrecking my hair. Still, it works well and fast.

For what I tries on the hair iron myself, and I think weight of it self it too heavy and big, I work on my hair myself after that I found out my arm just so tired and tense for what I need to handle this big heavy tool.
It work okay though!
And the burn at it side is hot not same what the ads on TV said

The maxi glide is a disaster. 1. It smells like its melting. 2. The combination of steam and heat is horrible. 3. Its too heavy. 4. It over dries your hair. I am living proof that the steam is absolutely positively horrible for your hair. I wash my hair once a week and i tried avoiding perms so i used the steam on the arears that were a litle more coarse. What do you think happend the middle of my head was all broken up. So the ending result i had to cut my hair off and start over.
It's the best i ever had

I don't know why some people lye about how bad it is because it's good. Maybe they are doing it wrong, but for me! I LOVE IT!! It's just like their comercial, It's great!!!!!
It's worth it the price...
Thank you!!!!!

I bought got this straightner carried away with all the commercials that i would see two years ago and after a year one of the sides (the one with the little water valve) stopped working! It sucks and now i can't even return it or get it repaired. It did straighten your hair, but not like they say on TV and it DOES burn your scalp because the plastic thing gets hot too. Also what sucks about it is that its too heavy and you get real tired after a while. Other than that i still use it about once a month but it takes forever to straighten my hair because of only one plate heating up!! Well anyway i have now ordered the pink CHI and hope to get WAY BETTER results. Buy this iron if you feel you want to take a risk.
