I have the same problem. I bought the maxiglide about 8 months ago and two people use it almost on a daily basis. The blue light does not stop flashing and it will only warm up, but not enough to straighten my hair. Does anyone know how to fix it | | Reply by Anastasia

hello.
i am also looking to see if this straightner will ruin my hair. but i am very worried because i have extremely thick hair. and although my curls arent as tight as the poeple on the infomerchial my culs are still very hard to manage. but i do find that straighteners like this do not damage your har very much at all as long as you dont apply to much pressure. | Cleaning the Maxiglide
Does anyone know the best way to clean the Maxiglide? I've had my for almost a year, and from using it with product in my hair it is getting some build up on it. It did for me! I'm African American as well. If you're hair is maybe pinky lenghth, it may be easier to use the small maxi glide that comes with the large one. My hair is about medium length (almost shoulder length) and it works perfectly. | | Reply by danielle

it works but it doesn't get your edges very good. | Will this work on my hair?
I am African American and am always looking for ways to straigten my hair outside of the usual perm/relaxer. There I wanted to know if this product would work on best on coarse/kinky African American hair or hair that has been relaxed in the past 6 weeks. I know the products claims to work on all hair types but traditionally, steam/water is not something that has been used to straighten African American hair because it makes it frizzy. Yes it does work. I did not use the steam/water function, but it straightens beautifully. I have not had a perm/relaxer in 2 years. My hair looks as if I have a fresh perm. Rub a little oil on your hair before using this product and the shine is great. | | Reply by C.M. Hubbard

My hair is permed but it's the glorious thick/kinky kind of hair that's hard to do anything with with even a perm. It just depends if your hair is healthy. If it's a perm and you regulary get your ends clipped etc, you should be more than alright. Me for instance, I'll probably still continue to get perms, but the maxi glide has already made my life so much easier! I don't even use the steam burst! | Straigth Fine Hair
I have long straight, fine but thick hair. The problem I have is with broken ends that appear frizzy. Will this product help get the smooth look without having to use hot curlers? Question posted by Mel Sun Aug 21 2005 Submit your answer | Reply by Paige

This product will straigten your hair, but if you have broken ends, the only way to fix that is with a cut. I use the maxiglide in my salon almost daily, and I've used it on girls with EXTREAMLY kinky curly hair, and on girls with damaged hair. If your finding that hot curlers make the problem appear to DISappear, its because those ends are curling under so you can't see them. I would give it a shot, but it sounds like what you need most is a trim.... | About the maxiglide
