using a perm to straiten your hair will not get it stick-strait, it only reforms the bonds and can still allow some wave.using a flat iron will get it much straiter with out the risk of chemical damage.

I have chemically straightened my hair and I still had to straighten it everytime it got even slightly damp...basically, the same as before I had it relaxed! All it did is make it slightly less curly when I chose to wear it curly (and I'm white, so if you're black, I'm positive you would still have to work just as hard at straightening it after relaxing it as you did before). Any flat iron definitely works way better than chemicals, cuz you can still wear your hair super-curly if you want.

has anyone had it for more than 6 months?
I just bought my maxiglide and now I'm reading the reviews. It seems like alot of people are having the same problem within a short period of owning it. I was wondering if there are people that have had it for more than 6 months and if it still works great or not so great. Please help!

I purchased my maxiglide in 2005 and it still works as good as the 1st day. I have been reading some of the stories from people who had problems after a short time and I believe that with some products, they are built great the 1st few thousand and then afterwards they get greedy and careless, use cheaper materials and forget parts etc. I would contact the manufacturer or retailer and ask for a refund.

My Maxiglide is not working....
Hey, I am having problems with my maxiglide. My hair is very thick and course and I need it in the highest setting, #10. Recently, the light on it hasn't stopped blinking and I haven't gotten good results after straightening it. The side with the teeth warms up but the plate with no teeth doesn't seem to have any heat on it whatsoever. Could it be from pressing that blue button too much? I though that was for the steam?..... Help?

I have had my maxiglide since June 2005 and it's worked fine until about the middle of April this year when I started having the same exact problem. The light keeps blinking and its not getting as hot. Also the water leaks out through the plates when pressing the steam button. It worked great until then. It's practically worthless now.

Short Hair
Why don't you make a straightener for people with short hair? On the infomercial all the people have long, flowing hair. Some of us do not. But we still want straight hair.

defective product
The Maxi GLide is an effective straitener for about a month, then the ceramic (blue) coating flakes almost completely off and fries your hair! I have replased mine 3 times now from "Bed Bath and Beyond" and it's happening again. To let you know the truth, I would just buy a chi or sumething. It will be worth your money!!

europe
I'm going to be in France for a year and I would like to be able to take my maxiglide with me. I know that the power converters tend to ruin this kind of product, so does anyone know if they sell them in Europe or something?

I wouldn't bother this product is a waste of money because the ceramic coating wares off and it will frie your hair so have fun with that while I go get my money back.

The instructions for the Maxiglide specifically say Do Not use with a voltage converter. It will not work outside of the United States

I have had the maxiglide 2 times, and this time its bein weird im havin the same problems as everyone else, it is poor quality, so unless u wanna keep getting new ones dont get it, i am going to try the sedu next, i mean dont get me wrong the maxiglide does work, im black and i dont get relaxers so u can imagine what my hair looks like after i wash it and dont straighten it, but my friend has the chi and she is black and she dont get relaxers either and people like that, but people like the sedu even more, they have the best reviews out of every other flat iron, i think it will be worth the investment!!!

breaking hair
Hi, I have 4a natural African American hair. I have been looking at the sedu and the maxiglide. Does the maxiglide keep your hair healthy?I was wondering if the pins break your hair and if the steam burst really works. Also will my hair convert back to it natural state after I wash it, and wont be stingy and straight?

yes, the maxiglide will work but it won't keep your hair healthy. the only thing that can keep your hair healthy is not to do anything at all. but you can protect your hair with a shield heat protectant such as fantasia ic hair polish or redhken hair slip or some heat protectant with deep conditiong like infusium 23 and other deep conditioned products. when using the maxiglide make sure you comb each strand before you put it through or your hair will pull out completely if you not doing it correctly. the steam burst does work.........apply to ends first then go to roots and slide down to seal moisture. if you wash it it should go back to the regular state .

Hello, I bought my maxiglide in spring of 2006 and LOVE IT! If you clean your hair, condition it, comb through it and section off small parts of your hair, slowly comb through your hair without clamping down on your hair while it glides through, you will have beautiful results. When I go outside in the damp air, I always cover my hair with a scarf then take the scarf off after I get indoors. As an african american woman, I use to perm, put in a weave or extentions in my hair and the results were abused hair to the point that my hair was falling out especially in the front of my hair line. Perming your hair is the worst thing you can do to your hair and hairdresser just get rich. It use to cost me at least $180.00 every time that I saw a stylist and that wasn't including the human hair that I use to have to buy. I only use maxiglide about once a week and I love the results. I condition my hair at least every two weeks, but the only real way to not damage your hair is to just wear it naturally braided. Otherwise, I have never had a problem with my maxiglide and if after a year, I need to buy a new one, I will. The cost of $95.00 a year to hundreds spent in a year saves me a lot of money. A lot of the use of this product is just using plain common sense in caring for your hair. I don't know of anyone in any nationality that has beautiful hair didn't spend a small, small fortune in doing so. It costs money to be beautiful ladies.

Fix Parts
My maxiblide no longer gives the steam burst. The water just trickles out now and I don't know what to do. I don't abuse it and I've only had it since January 14th.
