Serving as President and Founder of Roosters Men’s Grooming Centers, Joe Grondin is responsible for the continued development of franchises and territory expansion. The barbershop model he drafted represents a completely modern adaptation of the American icon employing new, yet time-tested techniques of men’s grooming. Under his vision and leadership, Roosters established a Uniform Franchise Offering Circular and completed the first franchise sale in 2003. Now 20 Roosters centers have been open and under construction throughout the U.S., including in the cities and markets of Denver, Detroit, Charlotte, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Atlanta, Chicago and Houston, with an additional 25 franchises currently under contract.

Board-certified as a Master Barber, Grondin has more than 35 years of experience in his industry. He has established four colleges of cosmetology, the Hairacy Colleges of Cosmetology, where he has taught and developed several new barbering techniques. He went on to sell two of his schools and grow the eponymous Grondin’s College of Cosmetology.

Grondin has additionally developed several barber and salon businesses styled around the trends of the hairdressing industry over the last 30 years. During the same time, he was instrumental in the development of more than 60 salons, barbershops and cosmetology schools throughout the state of Michigan.

Since the 1960s, Grondin has witnessed the departures and evolutions of the industry, from the deviation from the local barbershop atmosphere into the unisex salons, discount chains and day spas. In the late 1990s, he developed Roosters barbershop around the then emerging returned interest in men’s-only salons. He overhauled the traditional barbershop model with 35 years-worth of technology and technique upgrades.

The teaching and training formats he formulated are still used in his school today. He created a men’s shave and moisturizing treatment that has become Rooster’s signature, seven-step shave. This gentlemen’s shave utilizes advanced skin care treatments specific to a man’s shaving and styling needs.

Grondin acts as a hands-on trainer to his new franchise owners, which is projected to double by the end of 2006. Roosters was developed to be a unique opportunity for hairstylists, barbers and entrepreneurs to invest in an industry forecasted to grow exponentially.

In addition to Master Barber, Grondin holds a license as a building contractor, cosmetologist and aeronautic pilot and competes in amateur golf tournaments. For his community, Grondin has devoted much time to Little League organizations and currently serves on the advisory board of Barbering for the Texas State Department of Licensing.
