I was skepital that this would really make my daughter stop sucking her thumb. She sucked on her thumb that night after I put it on and she nearly gagged at the taste. After sucking her thumb for 3+ years she stopped over night. This really works.

My 5 y.o. daughter has sucked her index finger ever since I can remember. Recently, it was just when she was tired or feeling shy/anxious. She was old enough to tell us that she needed help and she couldn't stop it. Based on reviews of this product that I saw on Amazon.com, I decided to give this a try.
I put this on her finger one time, her finger went into her mouth one time, and she has NEVER sucked her finger since. I am still amazed when writing this because I'm a rather cynical person...I'll believe it when I see it!
We've gone an entire month or more and it cured her of the habit!

My daughter is 3 and she has been sucking her two fingers for last 2 years. Doctors said that she is still too young to stop the bad habit. The thing is that her teeth are getting visibly affected. Without success, we are constantly reminding her, therefore, we have tried “Stop for Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking”. We have talked to her before we purchased the product and she was in accord with it. Anyway, when we applied it for the first time it worked the first night. She was crying, but avoided sucking her fingers, mostly because we told her it does not taste good. However, next day she did not mind bad taste, sucking continued. She would not let us reapply, but we would still do it when she slept. It did not work afterwards.

This was recommended by our son's pediatric dentist to help him quit the habit of sucking on his fingers. It stays on for at least a 2-3 days without reapplying. It has made a big difference.

Our daughter is 3yrs 1 month, and we're tired of her thumb sucking. We heard most techniques don't work and she'll just grow out of it, but this was inexpensive and worth a shot. To our amazement, it works! She loves getting her thumbnails painted, and after the first few days we haven't seen her suck her thumb once! It has been 3 weeks. We still paint them once a day just incase.

My daughter had been sucking her thumb for years. When she turned 5-1/2 we noticed that the thumbsucking was shaping the roof of her mouth and her teeth. The orthodontist gave us a bottle of this and within 3 days she stopped - and hasn't sucked her thumb in almost 4 years. Was looking for this product for a friend - hoping it will work for her nail biting!

I purchased this product by a referral from my preschooler's dentist. She had always been a thumbsucker and all our attempts to stop her just made her hide it more, or do it when she went to sleep. Our dentist told us it had to stop or she would end up in braces or worse. I know the worst personally. My mother though it was cute and I didn't stop til around 10. I have an open bite where only the last three molars touch and it can only be surgically corrected, so I definitely didn't want my daughter to suffer the same fate. My daughter stopped within 3 days, and even reminds us when a reapplication is needed. It goes on easy dries fast, and has a taste that made even me run to the water fountain. It's great. The taste isn't numbing or gagging, just enough to make you want keep it out of your mouth. I wish I had found it sooner, but I do believe it has given my daughter the chance for a beautiful smile. This did the trick! My daughter has been sucking her thumb since she was a baby (6 years) and it became a problem when we put her in violin lessons. She was going to be released from the program before a friend gave me STOP and the thumb-sucking ended overnight. Remember to put the polish on more than once. I thought she was cured of her thumb addiction after the one application but she started it up again. But now that I purchased my own bottle and applied it again she is back on track. Shipping was quick and I would recommend this product and vendor.

After just a few days of using this produt, my four year old daughter quit sucking her thumb during naps and nighttime. It worked great!

My daughter at first could not stand to stick her thumb in her mouth when l first appield the product, but after a couple of days it seemed not to effect her.I taught this was going to break her but it did not

I tried this product on my daugther who is 25 month old and has been sucking her thumb since she was 3 months old. First couple of days, she put her thumb into her mouth, made 'yucky' face(grin), and took it out for a few times...then after 3rd day, she completely stopped putting her thumb into her mouth!! ....however, on 5th day, she tried doing it one more time and this time, probably she thought this bitterness wasn't so bad after all, so she kept sucking it even though I just put it on her nail. I am giving her some 'time off' right now and then will try this again. For some kids who know nail biting/thumb sucking is NOT a good thing, I think this will work...but for a child like my daughter who doesn't know it is good or bad, their 'need' is probably much stronger than this bitter taste.
Also, although the instruction is saying we have to put every other day, I had to keep applying it at least once a day. It seems like when the nail gets wet, the effectiveness of this product gets weaker, so when it is tasted, it isn't as nasty as it is supposed to be.

My eight year old son still sucks his thumb. We have tried many things to curb this with no success. A relative told me about Mavala and heard great things about it, so I thought I would give it a try. It worked immediately! The taste is very bitter and after about 10 days, my son no longer sucks his thumb. He is pretty proud about it also because he would get embarassed if someone caught him sucking his thumb. This is a wonderful product

I purchased this product for my daughter. She began sucking her thumb at birth. I have tried to convince her to stop recently. (She is 4.5 years old) I even had the dentist talk to her about how bad her teeth will be if she continues. I promised to get her ears pierced if she stopped. Well, that didn't work either. I got desperate and searched the web. I came across this product and placed the order. I put some on her thumb immediately when I got it in the mail. By the next day she stopped. It was like a miracle. She even got her ears pierced too.

My son is 6 and was still sucking his thumb. It was affecting his speech and we needed to end it quickly. I tried a very expensive thumb guard kit and there were too many ways for him to get it off, so after a few months I had to start looking for some other solution. The Mavala worked IMMEDIATELY and was so much cheaper! I started painting his thumbnails at night while he was asleep and he could not stand the taste! (We told him maybe he had sucked all the good taste out of them) The Mavala lasted on his nails for a few days just like the bottle says, so I didn't have to paint them every night. There is no sense continuing to be frustrated about your child's thumbsucking - at the same time they sense your disappointment in them. Give this a try - I would recommend it to anyone who has a thumbsucking child! I am so thankful someone invented this!

I have been a nail-biter on and off for over 30 years and decided to try this product out. I have tried many other treatments, but this one was great. I tasted horrible and lasted for days, even after frequent hand washings. In the beginning I used it daily, but afer a few weeks I use it every 2/3 days. I highly recommend it.

I have been a nail biter my whole life. I have used a handful of nail biting systems, but found a lot of them didn't work and were not convenient. For example - one product I tried wanted me to use it three times a day, who has the time for that? I like this product because it lasts a few days and you can put it on and go about your regular day. I highly recommend.
