My 9 1/2 year old daughter, who has sucked her thumb since birth, stopped in 1 day flat. We kept applying it every few days (that's how long it lasts on nails) just in case, but she never put her thumb in her mouth again. I would highly recommend this product. Nothing else worked for us except this, it was like our own little miracle in a bottle.

My baby is two and a half years old and he has been sucking his thumb for over an year severly. After using the product for two times, my baby stopped sucking his thumb which was unbelievable. I highly recommend this product.

Mom and 4-y.o. son both gnaw at fingernails. Mom finds the product to be very bitter tasting, even if the polish is ingested indirectly (e.g., mom tastes the sandwich that was held by son who has Mavala on fingernails and tips).
Product works to curtail mom's gnawing of nails, but not the son's; he essentially ignores the product on his fingers.
Wow. This was the last straw, and it worked.

Finally! Tried other products, nothing worked. This is the solution, buy it. Have a second grade boy, constantly has his fingers in his mouth, not a thumb sucker. Even sucks on his shirt sleeves and collar, whatever is available. Now he doesn't do any of these. Great product. Took a few applications, applied it when he was sleeping, dries very quickly.
It worked for us!

It only took 2 days for my son to stop sucking his thumb with "STOP" painted on his thumb. He is 4 1/2 and really WANTED to stop, but just couldn't kick the habit to suck in the car, when watching TV or sleeping. This was just the thing to remind him. I read reviews saying some children complained that it made their finger foods taste bad, so we just painted it on the tops of his thumb and it was plenty to deter the sucking. Good luck!

I turned to this product after my 10 yera old daughter was so frustrated with her thumbsucking that she didn't know what to do anymore. I know 10's a bit old for thumbsucking but hey, we were at the point where we'd try anything. This product worked in two sessions. It is so utterly horrible tasting that she was so worried the taste might linger that she woulnd't put her fingers anywhere near her mouth at all! Its really easy to use, just brush it on the thumbnail. I felt bad when she accidently put her thumb in her mouth. She had a fit but it has helped her stop and that was the important thing for all of us.

My daughter is almost 6 and we have tried everything, I mean it. We duct taped, had her wear gloves, tried thumb polish, tobasco, vinegar, bribed, threatened.......but Mavala worked! We put it on every three days for a week or so and she has stopped. It has been several weeks since we stopped and she hasn't sucked even in the middle of the night. It is great! However, I don't think it works for babies. I think the child has to understand what the goal is. I tried it with my 14 mo old and he would taste it, hate it, and then go to his thumb for comfort only to have that yucky taste again, and actually vomited twice so we decided maybe he was not ready for it. But I'm not as stressed about him sucking now because I'm sure we will be able to stop it well before he is 5 like his sister was.

So far so good. I used this product on my 19 yr old who still sucks his thumb sometimes. It does a wonderful job. I am very happy I tried this product.

I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old son that was constantly sucking his thumb. After putting it on he was disgusted with the taste. He tried to put his thumb in his mouth maybe 3 or 4 more times and then stopped completely. I stopped putting it on after 4 days and caught him sucking in his sleep. So I put it on 1 more time and I have not seen him even attempting to suck his thumb (after 2 weeks). It's been over 1 week that I put it on and no more sucking thumb!

I was skepital that this would really make my daughter stop sucking her thumb. She sucked on her thumb that night after I put it on and she nearly gagged at the taste. After sucking her thumb for 3+ years she stopped over night. This really works.

My 5 y.o. daughter has sucked her index finger ever since I can remember. Recently, it was just when she was tired or feeling shy/anxious. She was old enough to tell us that she needed help and she couldn't stop it. Based on reviews of this product that I saw on Amazon.com, I decided to give this a try.
I put this on her finger one time, her finger went into her mouth one time, and she has NEVER sucked her finger since. I am still amazed when writing this because I'm a rather cynical person...I'll believe it when I see it!
We've gone an entire month or more and it cured her of the habit!

My daughter is 3 and she has been sucking her two fingers for last 2 years. Doctors said that she is still too young to stop the bad habit. The thing is that her teeth are getting visibly affected. Without success, we are constantly reminding her, therefore, we have tried “Stop for Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking”. We have talked to her before we purchased the product and she was in accord with it. Anyway, when we applied it for the first time it worked the first night. She was crying, but avoided sucking her fingers, mostly because we told her it does not taste good. However, next day she did not mind bad taste, sucking continued. She would not let us reapply, but we would still do it when she slept. It did not work afterwards.

This was recommended by our son's pediatric dentist to help him quit the habit of sucking on his fingers. It stays on for at least a 2-3 days without reapplying. It has made a big difference.

Our daughter is 3yrs 1 month, and we're tired of her thumb sucking. We heard most techniques don't work and she'll just grow out of it, but this was inexpensive and worth a shot. To our amazement, it works! She loves getting her thumbnails painted, and after the first few days we haven't seen her suck her thumb once! It has been 3 weeks. We still paint them once a day just incase.

My daughter had been sucking her thumb for years. When she turned 5-1/2 we noticed that the thumbsucking was shaping the roof of her mouth and her teeth. The orthodontist gave us a bottle of this and within 3 days she stopped - and hasn't sucked her thumb in almost 4 years. Was looking for this product for a friend - hoping it will work for her nail biting!

I purchased this product by a referral from my preschooler's dentist. She had always been a thumbsucker and all our attempts to stop her just made her hide it more, or do it when she went to sleep. Our dentist told us it had to stop or she would end up in braces or worse. I know the worst personally. My mother though it was cute and I didn't stop til around 10. I have an open bite where only the last three molars touch and it can only be surgically corrected, so I definitely didn't want my daughter to suffer the same fate. My daughter stopped within 3 days, and even reminds us when a reapplication is needed. It goes on easy dries fast, and has a taste that made even me run to the water fountain. It's great. The taste isn't numbing or gagging, just enough to make you want keep it out of your mouth. I wish I had found it sooner, but I do believe it has given my daughter the chance for a beautiful smile.
