This product stopped my daughter's thumb sucking in 1 night!!!

I was looking through the internet trying to find a product to stop my daughter (who is 3) to stop sucking her thumb. She sucked it so bad, she sucked the skin off of it. She was bad with it especially at night or when she was upset, it comforted her. Well, I knew she needed to stop, and I figured the early in age the better. So I kept telling her for a week that if she kept sucking her thumb it was going to get sick and taste really bad. So one night to painted the Folica on her fingernail as she slept. Not even 5 minutes later she put the thumb in her mouth, she started to cry and freak out, drinking water, rubbing her tonge on the blanket, brushing her teeth. It was really horrible, I actually thought at one point to try to get it off, but I didn't. After that night she didn't suck it again. Not at nap time, not at bedtime, nothing!!! A couple of times I would see her about to put it in her mouth and then she would pull it away. We have been 1 month without sucking our thumb. Thank You Folcia....I would recommend this product to anyone who has a thumb sucking or nail bitting child.

My daughter has sucked her thumb and was a nail biter for over 9 years, but she stopped completely the day I put this product on her fingernails and thumb. She had only a slight taste of the product from what came off her skin and nails when she touched her drinking straw, and that was enough to keep her from ever putting her nails or thumb in her mouth again! It has been one full week since she stopped biting her nails and sucking her thumb, and the greatest part is that she is profoundly proud of herself, as am I! We had a great experience with this product, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is ready to stop nail biting or thumb sucking.

I bought this product to teach my 2 year old to stop thumb sucking. It made her vomit immediately. And, she couldn't even eat with it because the tiny bit of nail that would go into her mouth while eating finger foods would make her throw up. It's not worth it. Let your kids grow out of it on thier own.

When I first received this product, I sat my daughter down and told her it's time for her to stop sucking her fingers. I told her I have something that will help her to quit. I also told her when I was her age I had to quit as well. I asked her if she was ready to stop sucking her fingers and she said yes. I told her I was going to paint her nails and not to put them in her mouth afterwards because it would taste really bad. Well she went a whole hour without even trying and then decided of course to test it. She ran to the garbage can and spit in it. lol. That was the last time she attempted to put her fingers in her mouth for the next week. It was so simple, she adapted well to the plan :o), didn't even try at night time which was also huge. I had to re-apply it only a couple times in a matter of a month. She was so proud of herself for quitting as well as myself. I am ecstatic that there is a product out there that can help thumbsucking/fingersucking problems. Anyone who has or had a child who sucked their fingers knows how hard it is to get them to stop. I had tried just about everything with no success. I am absolutely pleased with this product. It will be saving me a bundle in dental later on down the road :o) and is saving my daughters teeth from becoming any more buck or crooked. Thank you for a great product. I never would have thought it would be that easy and actually work in helping my daughter stop sucking her fingers. This stuff is fabulous! I have been a nailbiter for 29 years...until now! My biggest hurdle was biting my nails while reading, which I do frequently. I did this without thinking, but using Mavala made me very aware of what I was doing. I have not bitten my nails in three weeks- a real accomplishment for me!

Our three year old was a chronic thumb sucker.
We read many different opinions about the subject.
The concern became real when we noticed his palate
shape being altered by the thumb sucking. After 3 months
of futile struggling to stop it, we bought Mavala.
Within 1 day we had broken the habit. Tip: let your child apply the product. Psychologically, this is powerful as it
allows your child to be part of the solution. Next time he goes to the dentist we're going to have the dentist make a huge deal out how great his mouth looks. Maybe have the dentist give his a little present.

I was at the point that my daughter would attend college sucking her thumb. At six, she was well past the point where she should have given it up on her own, and all the internet and book advice was getting us nowhere. She wanted to stop, but could not, and doctors and dentists told me she needed to quit, but offered no help as to how to attempt this.
After putting MAVALA on her thumbs, she stopped immediately- even at night. It needs to be reapplied every couple of days, but it goes on easily, like nail polish, so that isn't a problem. She says it is yucky, but is much happier and confident now that she doesn't have her thumb in her mouth.
The only problem she has had is if she eats finger foods, the taste goes on the food. I have to say though, if that is the only downfall, it is worth every penny!
Only thing that has worked for me!!

I have bitten my fingernails for 30 years and have tried everything and nothing has worked. But after using MAVALA STOP my nails are actually growing. It is such a horrible taste that after once you won't want to put your fingers anywhere close to your mouth. The only responsibility you have is actually putting the stuff on your nails. I don't even think about my nails anymore, they just look great!! I highly recommend this product.

I bought this expecting it to be another product that does not work, but it did!!! My son who is almost three stopped biting his nails within hours!!!! It does taste really bad (I tried it on my own nail) and it lasts for days (doesn't wash off), but it really does the trick. It was so offensive to my son that he almost cried the first time he tasted it on his nails. Honestly after a couple of hours he stopped putting his nails in his mouth and biting them. My 11 year old daughter had been chewing her nails for 3 to 4 years. They were looking really bad. She wanted to quit but just couldn't do it. After using Mavala Stop she quit chewing immediately. After only a few days she told me she didn't need the Stop anymore. But it's been 3 weeks and we still use it because I want to be sure the habit has been broken. I know it has and so does she and she is so proud of herself and her new long nails. Next we go for a professional manicure. Thanks for STOP.

I've never written a review before, but his product warrents one. My almost 3 yo sucked his thumb ALL day and night, after 1 day with this product on his thumb nail he does nto even attempt it anymore. Although I have to say, it was heart breaking to see his reaction the first time he put his thumb in his mouth with this on. He gaged a little and was crying and very upset. I was so sad, if it didn't work within a day I may have discontinued it, but it DID and I am so happy!!!

Purchased on 6/30/2005. Put on my 3 year old son's fingers to try to stop his finger biting. At first he drank a lot of water because of the bad taste now he is immune to the taste and continues to bite his fingers. Have used it regulary for the last three weeks to no avail.

My 7 1/2 year old daughter has sucked her thumb chronically since she was a newborn. She said, "on my 5th birthday I'll stop", then 6th, then 7th. Half way to being 8 she finally agreed that she couldn't stop on her own. . .although she wanted to! So, happily the magic paint came in the mail and I applied it 2x. She hasn't sucked her thumb in weeks, save 2 slip ups that she NEVER wanted to repeat. THIS STUFF TASTES AWFUL, or so she tells me! She is thrilled and so am I! READY FOR 2ND GRADE, AND NOT AFRIAD!

My daughter would suck her thumbs (both)with a blanket at nighttime and we were very worried about future dental problems. We tried a lot of things, but I ordered this and within 1 day, she stopped sucking her thumbs and the blanket went away too! I would recommend it to anyone!

Sorry to say that this product did nothing to stop my child from sucking his thumb. I have tried everything now and nothing works. Looks like it is time for a visit to the dentist.
