This is a great product to help toddlers stop biting nails. In about a week of putting on every other day my child stop biting his nails so much and they now have a chance to grow.

This is the second bottle of the product that I have purchased. I find it helps me deal with controling when I bite my nails. I have been trying to stop my nail biting habit for 8 months now and Mavala Stop I feel helps postively remind me not to chew my nails. I think that this product is helping to the extent that I am wanting it to, although I wish it would help my habits all together.
Works great

This stuff worked great for me. After biting my nails for around 15 years, I'm now broken of the habit. I read the other reviews commenting on just how bad it tastes, so the first day I was very nervous that I might accidentally bite my nails. It was already working before I even tasted it!
I went through about half the day before I slipped and boy was I in for a shock. The taste is horrible and it gets worse the longer it sits on your tongue. You really need to get a glass of water quickly to rinse out the taste. By the third day, I was completely broken of the habit, but I kept putting it on just in case. Now, almost a week has gone by without reapplying and I haven't bitten my nails once. At this point I'd say it definitely worked.

I used this on my nearly five year old who was constantly sucking her thumb. In just two weeks she stopped. I thought it would be traumatic for her but it really wasn't. She needed to take a drink everytime she put her thumb in her mouth by mistake. I highly recommend this product.

Works great. Tastes horrible. It stays on, too, through washing, etc., for several days. I'm 47 and have been biting all my life; it's been 2 weeks and my nails are looking wonderful. Keeps me away from my cuticles too, and generally reminds me to keep my hands away from my mouth. The down side is it gets on any food you eat with your hands, so while you're wearing it you have to use a napkin or something to hold any finger food. I'm really glad I bought it.
Worked only for 2 Days

I bought this at the direction of a dentist to help with my daughter's thumb sucking. At first it worked great and there was a bunch of gagging and spitting which eventhough I tried not to, couldn't help but laugh at. Then as the days went on, the taste grew on her I guess because right after I put the "top coat" of nailpolish on her nails, her thumb was in her mouth. I decided that maybe I needed a break from it and we need to do it in stages. So, that is exactly what we have done. I use it in conjuntion with nailpolish otherwise, she wouldn't let me even touch her thumb with it.

This product is amazing. Our ortho suggest we get this to get my 13 year old to quit sucking her fingers. We had tried everything. She tasted it the first night and she never did it again, at least not on purpose. Within a couple of days, she didn't want to put her fingers in her mouth. I highly recommend this product for any age.
Taste Bad but did not stop 5 year old from thumb sucking.

The product does indeed taste bad and stays on for an extended period of time. However it did not stop the 5 year old child from sucking her thumb.
Didn't work for my kids.

I got this for my daughter who sucks her thumb, and my son who bites his nails. Both of them still contiuned to do these things even after saying that it did taste awful. Their desire to bite and suck thier fingers won out over the taste.
I tasted it myself and I would never put this stuff in my mouth!!
Save your money.

My daughter had been sucking her two front fingers for some time when we decided to try Mavala. After reading the reviews we thought the problem would be solved in short order. However, after reading the directions and applying Mavala as directed my daughter went right on sucking her fingers as though we had done nothing. Don't buy Mavala, save your money for a product that works.

My daughter has been sucking her thumb in her sleep since she was an infant. She is not 2 yrs. 10 months and her teeth are pushed way out from sucking. We tried other products to get her to stop and nothing worked. I came across "Stop" on line and ordered it. Within two days she no longer sucks her thumb and she is so proud of herself. It has been two weeks with no set back. I re-apply every three days just to be sure and I will probably do that for the next month but I think she is cured!!!!
It's working great, it's really works

My 2.5 year old has been sucking his thumb from when he was in the womb (he was born with blister on his lips). At first we thought he would grow out of it. But that never happened. I tried all types of things (talking to him, bandage, thum, neem paste, vinegar.... and what not). Nothing worked. This was a BIG concern for us. The main reason was he would be very passive when sucking his thumb and of course dental problems later on. He would not interact or talk or play.
I tried Mavala STOP. Just one coat of it worked wonders. He sucked twice or thrice and ofcourse did not like the taste. After that he just stopped. He has not sucked his thumb for a week now. He seems to be so much more playful, talkative and interactive. Many thanks to STOP.
If I had only one thing to recommend to mothers, this would be it.

I wish my pediatrician found this sooner. But he was the one who recommended this to me. He too, was tired of his son putting his fingers in his mouth. The other stuff on the market is just spicy so there was no real deterrance. I decided to give it a try with my four year old. I was so tired of constantly nagging my son to stop sucking his thumb. I tried bandaids, I tried regular nail polish, nothing worked, not even bribing. I didn't want to do that plastic apparatus as I was afraid it would frighten him and make him feel bad about himself.
This product is amazing. It really works. And my son is so happy that he doesn't suck his thumb anymore and that he is now a "big boy"! It really worked for me. I am so relieved he has finally stopped sucking his thumb. If you're desperate, I would try it. It's a shame it's not more widely known.
Amazing!

I was skeptical and a little worried about putting something on my son's thumbs that tasted gross enough to cause another reviewer's daughter to get sick. But within 48 hours of applying this he stopped sucking his thumb. I applied it twice: 1st day and 3rd day and that is it. On the first day any time he would forget and suck his thumb he would rush to get a drink. But it did not make him gag or vomit. So don't let other, reviews scare you. My son can be a whiner and he never did, he knew it was time, and accepted the help. He doesn't even suck his thumb in the middle of the night. Thank you.
I dont think this is appropriate for thumb sucking

On the bottle it says for external use only, meanwhile its used for kids who put their fingers or thumbs in their mouths??? That doesnt make any sense. It smells like nail polish remover. I think if they are going to make a product geared for kids it should be safe if ingested.

My 6 year old painted this on her thumb fingernails herself. She gave it one taste, said yuck and has not sucked her thumb again. I will say that she was ready to quit sucking her thumb. They have to be ready.
No more thumb!

The first 24 hours after using MAVALA my 3-year-old thumb sucker had a rough time, very moody, not sleeping well, etc. Very understandle considering she had sucked her thumb since she was 4-months-old. However, by the third night she had stopped vocalizing her disgust. It's been about 3 weeks now and she is learning to talk out her emotions instead of sucking her thumb when she gets tired, mad, sad, or nervous. Therefore not only will she have a beautiful straight smile she is also learning valuable coping skills. Last but certainly not least she is so proud that she is a "Big Girl". Thanks MAVALA!
