I tried this product on my daughter, who's 23 months old. She has the habit of sucking her fingers to go to sleep since she was a few months old. It works the very first night. I tried it myself. It is very bitter and lingers in my mouth for a long time.
I continue to apply the product to my daughter's fingers for about a week when I started noticing that my daughter's finger started showing redness and became harden with small bumps. I have stopped applying the product immediately. After a trip to the doctor's office, it seems my daughter has an allergic reaction to the product that applying 1% hydrocrotizine might help. We've done the hydrocrotizine regimen for two days now, it seems to have lessened the overall effect.
This just a word of caution that some people might develope an reaction to this otherwise wonderful product.

This product is a must have for those thumb suckers! Both of my kids always had fingers in their mouth. When they were little, I thought it was cute. Then I thought about all those germs they were putting in their mouth. Thanks to STOP, there is no more!

We couldn't get my 3 year old to stop sucking her thumb, but after 2 days of STOP - she hasn't sucked it since! It is a miracle! Of course, I tried it on myself before putting on her nails and it really does taste bad and leave a bad aftertaste. I wish I would have bought this when she was 2 1/2! I put it on all of her nails, just in case she started looking for a thumb substitute.

I have been biting my nails for a few years now...and was desperate...and i started to use Mavala stop....and it worked...it's disgusting(does it's job)! (works wonders) I have nails again, it probably took 2-3 weeks for me to actually be able to tap them on a flat surface. If you don't have nails..this is a PLUS!!

I think the product would work on most children but my daughter is pretty stubborn. It did not work on her even though I used it religiously. I do know that it tastes really bad. I can't believe she would get used to it and be able to suck right through it. After trying many things to get her to stop sucking her thumb, I decided to temporarily give her pacifier back. I hope it works!

This product works great for nail-biters. Since I started using this product, I've stopped my nail biting, and my nails are actually starting to grow. This product does what it says, you will stop nail biting immediately. If you're a nail biter, and want to break the habit, don't hesitate to buy this product,it REALLY works GREAT!!!

My 4 year old stopped biting and sucking her thump in ONE week. This nasty tasting nail polish did the trick. (yes, Daddy tried it on his own nails first...SHHHH!)
After one week, we stopped using the polish, and haven't have any issues for two months now!

I am a dental hygienist and I work for a pediatric dental office. I have a 5 yr old daughter that had a severe thumb sucking habit that was causing damage to her jaw. I heard about Mavala Stop and gave it a try. She stopped the minute we put it on!! We used it for about 2wks and she hasn't put her thumb in her mouth since. It has been about 2 months and I see a difference in her bite already!! I now recommend this product to all of my thumb sucking and nail biting patients. We've had a lot of positive feed back from our patients. It's hard to find something that the kids won't get used to, aquired a taste for, or wash off. This stuff really works!!!!!

This product is excellent. My 4 1/2 year hold had been sucking her thumb since she was 3 months old. But within a day of using MAVALA all thumb sucking had ceased. I kid you not - completely ceased. Granted, without the comfort of her thumb, she now has difficulty falling and remaining sleep at night. But, I'll take that over the thumb sucking any day. If you've got a thumb sucker, please try this product. If my experience is indication, you'll be thrilled.

This product works amazingly well. My two and a half year old has been sucking her thumb since she was about four months old. She later began twirling her hair with her free hand while she sucked her thumb .No big deal right? until she twirled her hair so much she pulled it out.At one point half of her head was bald. I tried everthing I could to get her to stop, but nothing worked. I even tried another brand of nail polish made for the purpose of stopping thumb sucking,started sucking her thumb right away din't even fase her. I was really sceptical about this product, but it really works, and worked the first day for us. she stopped sucking her thumb after she tasted the first application of Mavala Stop. She has never sucked her thumb again and it has been about a month. I tased the product myself on my own finger nail, it is a really horribe taste that stays in your mouth for several hour after just a quick taste. It seems to sta on the nail for several days. Thank You for this product it is suck a relief to find something that really works!!! I will recomend it whenever possible and already have.

My son is almost 5 and I wanted him to break the habit before starting school! It took only ONE application! I would have never believed it. He generally sucked his thumb at night and never does anymore. His teeth were starting to be affected, so I'm so thankful for this product!! Thank you!!

I tried putting this on my daughter's thumb and finger that she sucks and at first she hated the taste. But her desire to suck overcame the hate for the taste. She sucked right through it.

I was not sure weather to do something about my 19 month old daughter's thumb sucking or wait until she dropped it on her own. but for the price what could i lose. I put on her thumb but within the first hour she gagged and threw up three times. but i notice at bed time there was no thumb to be seen. i just kept looking at her because she even looked differant to me. she would make an attempt but remembered. finally she ended up slepping on her hand. it broke my heart how much she suffered for that day. but four days later she no longer sucks her thumb. now i just need to save it because it looks like my 4 month old will be sucking his fingers too....

I have a 3 1/2 year old who went to his first dentist appointment where the dentist pointed out that he could tell my son sucked his thumb. He then proceeded to tell me that I should wean him of this habit to avoid braces in the future.
I read through the product reviews and decided to try this one. I figured it would be the easiest product to use--you just paint it on the fingernails.
I did this to my son right before he ate dinner. Probably not a good thing... Every time his thumb got anywhere near his mouth, he threw up. I felt horrible! The taste is extremly bitter, but it didn't hurt him.That was the one and only time I put it on his thumb and it's been a month and he hasn't sucked his thumb one time!! I never had to use the product again. I was incredibly satisfied and never imagined it would be that easy!!

I rate Movala Stop above average beacause it does work.
Even though my daughter(age 8) was still putting her fingers into her mouth after the first application. She soon realized after a couple of days it was better not to. After a week she was bragging how she went all day at school without any nail bitting. It's been three weeks now and I've only caught her couple times with her fingers in her mouth that's afer the product wore off. It's slowly changing her for the better.
