Worked wonders on my rigorous thumk sucker. My 3 yr old had no side effects except for the main effect: to stop sucking his thumb.

This is the first time using this brand and I've had fabulous results. I USED to bite my nails when I was either bored or nervous. After the first time I applied the polish...I haven't been able to follow through with ripping my nails down to nothing! My nails look so great now and it's only been 3 weeks! It's great! You should try it.

I thought this was going to be the miracle thing to get my son from sucking on his pointer finger. They don't sell finger guards for that finger so I thought this would work. He actually put his finger in his mouth with the wet nailpolish on and didn't even flinch. I had the taste in my mouth forever. It was horrible. I put several coats on and nothing. Maybe if I apply it more often the taste gets worse and worse. I'm kind of dissapointed because I was really thinking that this was "it".
Nail Bitting

This product came on time and was what I expected. I have been a nail bitter for 28 years and this forced me to quit in a week. It has been two months without out a single relapse...The product works. The only negative thing I can say is that the horrible taste also gets on food that you handle with your hands, so if your eating chips, wash them first. Also, this product must be industrial strength... because it takes at least two days to wear off your nails and this is with obsessive washing...All in all this product worked and I am happy I purchased it.
Child got used to taste..

I had bought some for my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter. After about a week I saw her biting her nails. I had just applied the product minutes before. I asked her if she could taste the product and she told me "I just get used to it"! Her father had applied some to him and said it worked on him as a reminder. So my advice is that it works for and adult, but not a child.
This stuff rocks

My three year old put her thumb in her mouth twice after we applied this and never again. It was so worth the money so that she doesn't ruin her teeth. She also thought it was fancy nail polish for some reason and wanted us to put it on her.
We applied the stuff to her entire thumb and we did it right before nap and bed (the times she's most likely to suck) and we had no thumb sucking.
I wouldn't bother using this with a child who does not want to stop but it does wonders to help with subconsious behavior.

Hi everyone.
We've tried this on my daughters thumb but didn't ave much luck. Sure it tastes terrible but she worked her way through it so if you have this problem, be ready to be persistent with it.
Okay -- more a reminder than a deterrent.

Mavala works okay, but I was hoping the taste would be more bitter. The taste serves more as a "reminder" more than a "deterrent." I was able to stop biting my nails (almost) for two weeks now. It still takes a lot of willpower.
Also, a warning to people in the USA. I got my Mavala confiscated while going through airport security because it is a liquid. Be sure to put it in your checked luggage so you can keep it.

In about 10 days, my son has broken the habit of sucking his thumb. We did have to apply it every-other day because he would try to wipe it all off. But we haven't used it in about one week...and he hasn't even tried to suck his thumb! I can't rave about it enough!
Worked wonders!

My 2 1/2 year old had been sucking her thumb since birth. At first it was just while she was sleeping or stressed. But recently, she has had her thumb in her mouth constantly. It was even starting to push her front teeth out. So I found this product through a web search, and thought I would give it a try. She was excited to have her nails "painted", at first. Then she stuck her thumb in her mouth and gagged. She did that a few more times, and was very upset. I thought we would have a sleepless night for sure. But she was fine that night! And has been fine for the last 2 weeks. Of course, she doesn't sleep as soundly, and sometimes she does not take a nap at all during the day, but I would rather deal with that than the thumb sucking. We "paint her nails" every other day and she doesn't fuss at all. We have even put colored nail polish underneath the product as a reward for her progress. We are very pleased with this product and have recommended it to others!

I was a little skeptical when buying this product, as I've used other products designed to do the same thing (namingly THUM and one other..) Since those did NOTHING to stop my 3 1/2 year old from sucking his thumb, I decided to buy STOP based on the many rave reviews from other parents on this site.
Let me just say, that my son was a serious thumb sucker. Yes, WAS. Since the first time I applied STOP, almost two weeks ago, he has not sucked his thumb one time. He previously sucked his thumb to sleep, when tired, upset, or just because. We had tried every other venture before this to no avail. His teeth had begun to pull forward and already, we see a huge difference in the alignment after only two weeks. We are beyond pleased!
When I ask him if he sucks his thumb, he says "no, it's really, really yucky" -- and he also announces to everyone that he does not suck his thumb any longer, that he is a big boy.
Hands down, I say give this stuff a try. It truly works. And if I am ever blessed with another thumb sucker again, we now know what to try much earlier on!
Good luck, and thanks Folica for the super fast shipping and wonderful product! You truly stopped a horrible habbit!

I purchased this product (Mavala STOP) because I have three kids who all bite their nails. This product WORKS! All I do is paint their nails with it every other day and the kids NEVER bite their nails. Every once in a while, one of them will forget that the Mavala STOP is on their nails and will attempt to bite.... INSTANTLY, they withdraw their fingers and shreik about how incredibly BAD the stuff tastes! They are being "trained" to stop biting and this is the only product that I have come across that is effective, easy functional

Unfortunately my daughters are still putting their finger in their mouth and biting. Despite the fact that is tastes nasty and lasts for a few days w/o a reapplication( I tried it myself) they still continue to bite. It's definitely not as often as it was, but I do find them with there fingers in the mouth still!!
I would recommend just to try but you may need a back up plan!!
This Works...but not for young children!!!

Mavala helped me break my lifelong habit of nail biting in 2 weeks. It tastes awful, which is exactly what I needed. But, I would not use this on young children for thumb-sucking, nail-biting, etc. All you have to do is touch your lip with your finger and for the next 30 minutes you have a very bitter taste in your mouth. Sometimes it remains on your lip and you continue to encounter the taste for the rest of the day. This would be way too upsetting and confusing for a young child. Works great for adults, though!!!

I'm 25 years old, and I can't remember ever clipping my own fingernails. I've bitten and chewed them all my life. I purchased this product, and I haven't touched my nails since. It just tastes so bad, I can't do it. Believe me, I've gotten distracted and placed my finger in my mouth, but I've not gotten any further than that. This stuff works.
