BEWARE
Wow!! I can't believe all the people having the same problem as me. When I started reading the reviews they sounded exactly like the concerns I wrote to JFM. They responded today:
"We regret any inconvenience or discomfort you were caused and recommend that you discontinue using Just for Men. It is possible to develop a sensitization to this product at any time, even after using it without incident. This is why we require the allergy patch test be done before each application. Furthermore, the product was changed approximately 3 years ago to give better coverage of gray".
I have used this product for several years without incident. Something drastically has recently changed with this product. Do not use.

Leaves metallic taste in mouth

Second time I have used JFM hair color. The first time that I used it I tasted a metallic chemical taste in my mouth after using it in my hair. I thought that I may have been mistaken. The second time, the same taste. No I don't drink it. If it can soak through my skin, I doubt that it can do any good to my liver, kidneys, etc.
This company is absurd.

This company is absurd and un-willing to respond. After numerous emails and phone calls. They finally replied and said stop using the product. "You Think"
They need to address the problem!!! I am contacting the FDA and hopefully they will look into it.

I used JFM beard coloring from 2001 thru 2004 and never had a problem. Shaved my beard in 2004 and just grew it back. The first time I used it, I developed a severe rash under my chin that itched like crazy and oozed. My lips also swelled like hives and my lips cracked and were dry.
I now know what has caused all of this after reading here.
I will never use this again. Is their something out there that is ok to use on a beard?

being a hairdresser for 20 years da did anyone ever try a patch test that is where you take the product and put a small amout on the undersider of your arm a tiney drop. if it get read they why put it on the face or head. you could be using a product for a long time and then one day it does not work the way you want it to, some causes for this are medication changes in body as we get older so dont bad mouth a product just because you truely did not understand it.
Scarface has a new meaning now

JFM facial hair color kit worked awesome for the first 3 or 4 applications - It didn't even bother me having to re-apply about every week. The problem started when about 6 hours after the next application, severe itching kept me awake followed by sores emerging at every part of the face that came in any contact with the cream mixture. It didn't end there... The skin started to swell and became very red. Scabs and dryness started to take over after 5 days - the itching redness was persistent. The only relief I got from the acid/hot sensation was to apply cold to the affected areas (this also helped to stop the itching). A ziploc bag of some frozen peas will do. The professional advice to help to hasten the healing would be to apply copious amounts of Hydrocortisone ointment (presrciption strength). You look like a freak but it helps. After a week, the signs are still there that extreme trauma had taken place. It is not for certain whether this may remain as a scar at some level. My advice is to check the internet for any class action suits against the manufacturer and throw your name to that... Also, the patch test is not a good barometer to avoid potential reactions. Remember, there were no reactions for almost a month before it did occur - there's no certainty that after waiting 24-48 hours with negative patch test results that when applied to the face afterwards that it won't start then. Bottom line: There is no sound reason to take a chance on a product that can potentially cause so much severe reactions that possible permanent scar tissue can remain - you only have ONE face!

I have used this product for some time on my beard/mustache. NOT ANYMORE! The photo posted earlier does not do justice to what is does to my face. Evidently, it may be the "new" formula causing this. Is this company reading these reviews?
My face hurt so bad,I could feel it pulsating. Terrible rash, oozing, itching. I thought I was an unusual case to this reaction until I looked here while searching for an alternative. If you are thinking of using this product...BEWARE!

I have used JFM for years. You would have thought by now that I would have read the directions! My bad...but, now I am feeling really bad. About a year ago, I went from being able to run on a treadmill to not being able to walk on one without getting a tightness in my chest. It was like a light switch was turned off, it happened so fast. My question is...is anyone else having this problem. I see the warning on the inside instructions say things like skin rash, dizziness, tightness in chest...I have had all of these things to the point that I thought I might have been having a heart attack. I would like to see if other long term users of JFM are having the same symptoms. Please let me know.

I had been using JFM for about five years with no problems, so I was surprised when I got a couple blisters about six months ago. I thought maybe I had done something wrong like not doing an adequate job of rinsing, therefore, I decided to give JFM another try. Big mistake, this time the product really burned my face. Time to remove this product from the market before someone really gets hurt.

I just grew my beard back and tried the product for the first time since last year. The following day my face started inching and then turned red. The next day it was puffy and blisting started. My Doctor put me on a steroid and advised accordingly. This is a BAD Product that should not be on the shelves. I emailed the company and have not heard back. Next call is the FDA for me.

I started using it weeks ago and am still using it, because I don't know another alternative. The color doesn't look natural, and half of the tone fades away in 4 or 5 weeks.

Add me to the list. I have used this product for many years without problems. Shaved all facial hair because of the burns and still have a red place that lingers on. Just used on my hair and my whole scalp is itching and oozing.Luckily my hair disguises it when I'm not scratching, I caked vaseline around the perimeter. I have used it for the last time but am at a loss what to do now. I can't risk being in this condition again.

How can they sell this stuff! I tried the 'test' and it was OK. But my head and beard is ozzing, scabbing, etc. I should have checked the reviews before using this stuff! Please - what can I do to help heal my head and face?
No word back from the manufacture yet:

Something is majorly wrong with this product!
I will never use anything like this again. I heard womens hair coloring would work too - just a little more time consuming.
3rd Degree Burn

I too, have used JFM in the past without any problems or reactions. The past 3 times I have used the product, I have had blistering and oozing all over my scalp. The itching is unimaginable. At present, my scalp is burnt, blistered and oozing to where my hair is stiff in the morning when I get up from the ooze that dries during the night. And believe it or not, I only had the product on my hair for less than 3 minutes! This product needs to be taken off the market or return to the original formula that did not cause the numerous reactions mentioned. I even have swollen glands in the back at the base of my head!!

I have used this on my beard once in the past with no problems then again and AGHHHHH!!! burning, skin weeping, and itching. My skin has now cleared up but I seem to have a reddish scare on my check that won't clear up. JFM need to be investigated as this is a dangerous product. This is pure acid that you are brushing into your face. This product should be banned!!
Lips Severely Chapped, Cracked and Weeping

I haved used Just For Men Beard and Moustache coloring product for a couple years without a problem. A few months ago, I noticed my lips started reacting to the product. At first they got chapped, then the condition worsened over several days. Soon my lips became swollen, severely cracked, and started weeping consatntly. It took almost two weeks for them to heal. I'm afraid to use the product anymore and threw it in the trash. Just for Men must have changed the formula, and as far as I know, has yet to warn users. In a word, unscrupulous!
Chemical Burn
Reviewer:

I have used just for men on my beard for nearly a year now and the last time I used it I ended up with what I can only describe as a chemical burn. I followed the instructions exactly, mixed it, put it on waited 5 minutes and then jumped in the shower to wash it out. Within about an hour my beard started itching like crazy. It's been two days and my face is red and swollen under my beard and particularly around the edge of my upper lip. I have one spot that is actually now a weeping sore. I have never had reaction like this before when using this product. The thing that has changed this time was I went from dark brown to medium brown. I am absolutely miserable and I cant even sleep because my lip is throbbing and my whole face is so itchy. I'm done with this product. I will never use it again! My advise is to stay away from this product unless you enjoy misery!
