IT'S GREAT TO CHANGE COLOR, BUT MAN IT'S HURT'S

JUST READING THE REVIEWS I KNOW THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY MAN WITH THE AFTER EFFECTS. I JUST USED SOME AGAIN RECENTLY AND OFF AND ON THE LAST YEAR, THE FLACKY, OZZING, BURNING, AND ITCHING SENSATIONS COMES MORE WHEN YOU PUT MORE OF THE APPLICATION ON A GOOD AMOUNT AND DO THE PROCESS IN . I ALSO THINK THAT WHEN RINSING OFF THE APPLICATION WITH A WET TOWEL IT BEGINS TO THE ITCHING PROCESS, AND THE MORE YOU RUB THE TOWEL AGAINST YOUR FACE THE MORE YOUR FACE FEELS AT EASE FROM ITCHING, BUT IF YOU SHAVE AFTER USING THE PRODUCT YOUR FACE WILL HAVE A DIS COLOR ON THE AREAS YOU PUT IT ON AND THAT TAKES A LITTLE OF A MONTH TO HEAL<DON'T SHAVE AFTER USING THE PRODUCT WHERE YOU PUT THE GEL ON YOU WILL REGRET IT. TO HEAL IN MY OPINION ALMOST 2 AND A HALF WEEKS BUT TRY HARD NOT TO SCRATCH, PLEEL OFF THE IRRITATED SKIN, AND USE NEO-SPORN FOR A QUICKER HEAL.

Just as the others I have experienced the adverse effects from the "new" formula. I used this for years without issue, and now, all of a sudden, it's caused me much discomfort and hopefully not more serious problems. A recent application left me with the blisters, red, swollen and oozy sores. This product should be recalled. It is unsafe. Have there been any updates to this? Can anyone recommend a safe alternative?

I used JFM off and on for the last few years. Recently I bought a box of the hair and brush in gel. Both burned me. It took a while (a little over a week) for my scalp and facial skin to finally quit hurting. In the process I did wind up going to our family doctor and she prescribed me a medicated shampoo.
Thinking it was something else, I wound up buying another box of JFM brush in gel. Stupid mistake. It was only after finding this site that I discovered JFM changed formulas or something. Thanks for nothing JFM.
Since then I've tried another men's hair product and the result has been the same. I hope whatever JFM did to their formula didn't mess me up or something.

I have done some work as a background in a movie I am real glad I didn't use just for men before the shoot. When I got home I decided to cover a little of the Grey on my goatee and mustache. Well its a nightmare I use the smallest amount maybe five drops max applied it as directed but I only left it on for just over a minute. Washed it off as directed about 2hrs or so it was little itchy and a little red. Went to bed woke up terrible itchiness seeping soars tried washing with cold water tried calamine lotion nothing seemed to calm it waited another day still no better now worse. In desperation i shaved to try to dry it out. Another day still no better went to the Hospital emerge waited approx 3hours. He gave me a prescription but said I should wait a few days to see it my face improves told me to get the prescription at a last resort as it may cause high blood pressure and other side affects. being in between jobs doesn't help (who would hire a face that belongs in a Horror Movie. Its been 5 days now and I still have seeping soars and red patches where my goatee used to be. (If i ever cover Grey again I probably try indelible marker before just for men) I have taken photos i am pretty upset This is just not right.

I used this product without complications years ago. I've since grown my beard back and picked up another pack. Wow! This stuff burns, itches, and my whole chin is red and swolen. The itch is unbearable. Now I look like I have some sort of disease and I'm afraid to shave since I have blisters.
Just For Men - What gives?
I'll not use this product ever again.
Can't use it anymore! It itches too bad.

I started using this product on a small "soul patch". Now my lips are itching like crazy. I'm making funny B-B-B-B-B sounds and running my lips over my teeth just to alleviate the itch. I noticed some kind of zits or blisters on the inside of my lips. I've used this product for a couple years now without any incidents, but I'm going to have to stop! Someone else mentioned a product for women Root touch up and someone mentioned Grecian 5. I'm going to have to switch to one of those now! I was doing Google searches and seriously thought I had oral allergy syndrome until I came across this site on a hunch this might be from using my Just for Men. Goodbye JFM and thanks for the memories, hope you come out with an "original formula" JFM sometime soon!

The "new formula" is killing me. I get a terrible, itcy rash from this stuff. I thought I was just having some weird sensitive skin reaction until I found all of these other reviews. Now it sounds like I actually have mild reactions compared to others. What is wrong with this company? Didn't they test this? Aren't they listening? Anyone have a suggestion for an alternative?
Bad Skin Rash

I used JFM for several years without any problems. Once they changed the formula earlier this year, I started breaking out in very bad rashes with sores that became infected. I've had to go to the doctor twice for antiobiotics that I take by mouth and on the skin. So far, it has cost me $300 in doctor's fees and medicine to get rid of the rash.

I have used this prodcut for 8-10 years and never had any problems until the past couple months. Every time I use it I get blisters over my scalp from the hair product and same thing happens from mustache. My wife said I look diseased, the blisters ooze and weep and are extremely uncomfortable for a good 3 days after using the product. I don't understand why they changed the product, it was fine just as it was now, I can't even use it. My wife told me to try her Root-touch up and it does not cause me to have blisters or buring or itching. I hate switching since I have used this product for so many years, but I'm not going to suffer, besides, it really looks bad for job interviews.
Product Could Be Better

I've used different shades of Just For Men brown beard gel for three years. It isn't bad, but I've had problems; the color doesn't "take" in the suggested five minute waiting period, after which there is little or no color change on areas of my beard. If I leave it on longer than five minutes, a color change will occur, but I end up with a much darker shade than desired, almost black looking. After much frustration I've given up and am now using their black color, which covers well. However, this has an unnatural look to it. Natural black hair isn't solid black, and that's how this looks.
Have contacted Just for Men and have been told by people that my problems couldn't possibly be product-related and that I must be "doing something wrong". The usual response is "That's strange." Have also been told by a representative to begin timing five minutes AFTER the application is complete, contrary to what the instructions say. (She even denied that the instructions say to begin timing when you begin applying.)
Would be nice if they could improve the product, or at least come up with another product that would lighten the frequently too-dark color that I end up with when using brown.

I've been using Just For Men medium brown for a couple of months. I've been very happy to see the grey gone and my natural color back again. When I experienced the itching and eventual red oosing blisters, I just told myself that's the price to pay if I have to endure this. I thought that it was my individual reaction to the product. However, now that I've read all of the complaints from others who have experienced the same reaction that I've had, I too want to ask the manufacturer "Why aren't you listening to your customers"? If so many of us are suffering physically damanging reactions, "Do you care enough to make the necessary changes in the formula in order to keep your loyal customers"?
Something is wrong with the new formula!!

I must agree with the previous reviews. The new formula is terrible! I've been a loyal user of the product for over 3 years with great results. I noticed minor burning and skin irritation about 2 months ago. Symptoms resembled the other user's complaints. Burning, itching, red and inflamed facial skin with flaking. Go back to the original ingredients! You are losing customers by the box!

I have been using "Just for Men" Jet Black and Natural/Real Black -
mustache and beard for years, and just recently early April 2007, a
pattern of irritation and skin rash started during last three purchase Jet
Black for breads and mustache.
The first time this happened, I received a rash - underneath my beard
and mustache throughout. I treated this with Cortaid and it sort of
went away and seemed back to normal after about a week. I had an annoying
iching that became irritating, and did everything not to scratch or rub
- with advice from a Phamacy.
The second time this happened, I took a chance and made another
purchase (another store) the exact same product as above from another store,
and even did the patch test on the right corning of my mustache. This
happened again but got worst, the skin pealed under the hair, and you
would see tiny crater blumish looking. The patch test area on the edge
of my mustache got worst then the rest of my beard. I did the same with
cortaid and it sort of got better, I waited longer healing time.
Third time, I purchased another "Just for Men" Mustache and Beard brand
color - called REal black. This time things got worst and swelling
occurred throughout the beard and mustache. I am going through
antibiotics now, and had to shave off beard (which has not been done in years).
And currently using triple Antibiotic first aid cream. I may have to
see a doctor, but waiting to see what happens.
Your company bought out, or put the other brands out of business. So
what does a person like me do when your brand goes bad.
I am more then sure that guys keep - hair dye routines to themselves,
and not discuss with others. So therefore this type of thing can go
unnoticed.
You all had a much better formula two years ago that lasted longer.
The gray in my hair is about 30 percent, and you formula now days only
last 2 to 3 days maximum. Instead of about 7 days like in the past.
Be careful when your brand changes. I could be wrong, and there may be
other varibles or coincedences. Your product could start a change in
mens behavior of shaving beards on, or wearing gray. Go figure.

I'm not having any allergic reactions but the new product just doesn't cover in 5 min. I need at least 10 and I'm nervous with that given the possiblility of developing a reaction over time. The old formulation was much better.
It burns the next day

I've used this product maybe a half dozen times and suddenly it burns. After applying it yesterday and leaving it on for seven minutes (exactly) I itched some but woke up this morning burning with my skin all red wherever it stayed on. I had never left it on this long so my guess is that this is the problem with the burning. Before when I'd leave it on for less than five minutes my skin just itched but I put up with it. Read the other reviews. This product is certainly the worst solution to grey in your beard or hair.

What can I add to what has just been said? Is this a new way terrorists found to attack some of us? I've used this product for the last year or so in a few ocasions until last week. It just burned my upper lip, shaved my mustache, and I missed more than a week of work. It's unbelievable. Please, be aware of this and spread the word.
New formula no better than old

I have been using the sandy blond mustache color gel for years. Although the instructions say to leave the gel on for 5 minutes, I always have to leave it on for 10 to cover the gray. Leaving it on for 5 has no affect whatsoever. So I was hoping the new true color formula would be better. It isn't. Five minutes still doesn't color my gray mustache hairs. I'll continue to use Just For Men because it's the only product that offers the color I need.
