For years I used Just For Men brush in gel with no problem at all. Since I started using the new formula, I have developed an irritation on the tops of my ears. At first I couldn't believe is was related to a product that I had used for so long and which never caused such a condition. With a little cortisone cream, the irritation subsided, and so foolishly I tried using the product again (I was in the habit of doing so for 10+ yrs!) Lo and behold, the irritation worsened and caused incredible itching, redness and weeping of plasma from the skin. It's unconscionable that a company would alter a long-standing product in such an irresponsible manner.

I used this product on my moustache for a number of years with good results and no problems. However, with the last two applications from a new box, I've developed the same symptoms described here by others: rash, redness, swelling, oozing blisters, itching and flaking skin. I will never use this product again. Indeed, I decided not to risk my health to this or any other hair coloring product. I shaved off the moustache after having it for almost 40 years...just not worth the risk. I still have some raised, red patches where the 'stache was that I hope will disappear now that the irritant is gone. I notified the chain pharmacy where I bought this toxic product, asking it to pull it from its shelves and to notify appropriate agencies. (It probably won't bother.) I sent along a link to this site along with some of the comments posted here. I intend to directly notify the FDA and local/state health agencies. I suggest that you all do the same. Maybe that will get some results. If the retailers of this product are making a profit on it, they will probably do nothing without a more public outcry. The public should be made aware of the dangers of this product.

I used this product 3 times successfully, and then the last 2 have resulted in chemical burns on scalp and face near hairline. The reaction wasn't immediate, but happened the day after. I thought the first time I had the pain, it was an anomoly, but I can't beat to try it again. What happened??
OUCH!!!!

I recently grew a beard and had some grey in it so I purchased JFM after seening the comercials. the first time I used it the itching was incredible but since this was my first beard I figured it was the hair on my face. The second time I used it the itchings was even worse only this time it burned like I poored some acid on it. I couldnt sleep at night, the skin under the beard turned bright red and I got some serious... I guess boils for lack of a better word. then after about 4 days all of the skin dryed up and peeled off like after I had a very bad sun burn. I will not every use this product again. Im amazed at how something like this can stay on the market. someone needs to sue them for putting out an unsafe product.

My husband had used this product for years. He used it over the weekend...on saturday, on sunday we were @ the Med-check. His scalp, forehead, mustach/beard area swelled up and blistered. I took pictures and am interested in a class action suit if it becomes available. I cant believe they keep this product on the shelf. The Dr. said if he hadn't went to the Dr., it would of only got worse and could of landed him in the hospital. Just for men SUKS!!!!

As many other reviewers have written, JFM Color Gel's "formula change" has resulted in a dangerous, toxic substance that WILL burn your face and cause redness, itching, and oftentimes nasty, oozing pustules to appear. I'm amazed that a lawyer hasn't already filed a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer, or that the FDA hasn't demanded a recall of this product. Unless you are a masochist, don't use it!

I have been using Just For Men for years. The last box I bought irritates my skin and causes raw spots. This never happened before so it must be something in the new formula.
PLEASE READ!!!!!

I called the number on the box - 1-800-431-2610 and spoke with a customer service girl named Clementine or Camela. She said, "Every time you use this product, you must test it on a small area and wait 48hrs. to determine if you will react negatively." She also said these instructions are clearly written on the box. She said, "Just because you didn't react one time, doesn't mean you won't react the next."
This company is making a business out of playing Russian Roulette with our personal health!!!

Like many others...I had a terrible reaction to this product. For some reason I decided to touch up my moustache and my hair on the same day. I honestly can't remember being more uncomfortable in my life. I went through three days of pain, burning, itching. My whole head hurt and all of the skin on my face was red an irritated even though this dangerous product never touched it. Five days later and it is not too bad, but still itches from time to time and the skin on my ears and lips is very dry. Compared to what some others have described I got off easy, but I never imagined an over the counter product could be so hazardous. The kicker...it didn't even do a very good job....I left it on for less than the prescribed 5 minutes and my hair got much darker where is wasn't grey and stayed grey where it was grey. Maybe it works for some people, but I'll never touch this stuff again. Oh yeah, in addition to the skin irritation, this stuff actually made me feel sick for a few days. Hard to describe how....poisoned might be the most accurate description!

I have used this product for 4 years. I noticed a year agao that I had burned my face so I started to use the product in very small amounts. I still had problems and my lips became very chapped and swollen. It's been about 4 months now and I have not used the product and my lips are still chapped and swollen. This product should be recalled. Maybe if the manufacture was slapped with a lawsuit they my wake up and do something about their "New Formula"

In the past, I used Just For Men for years with no problems or pain whatsoever. I recently decided to grow my beard again, and used the new Just For Men...and OMG, it burned and continued to burn after being washed off!!! It never used to do that!!! After reading everybody else's horror stories here, I quickly lathered my face repeatedly with a mild soap and then continued to rub a strong hydrocortisone cream into my face until the burning subsided. There's still a slight burning sensation hours later...this is scary. I can only hope that nothing else develops. Why did they change the old formula? I will never use JFM again.

My husband, who has used this product over a year now, used the black JFM brush-in gel 3 days ago. In a little over a hour of using the gel, his face started to blister and seep yellow gunk. At first we thought it was a chemical burn. But, after 2 days of pain and swelling, he went to the ER to find out that he has a major skin infection caused by the gel. His instructions were to remove all treated facial hair (ouch) as long as it is on you so is the chemicals that are causing this, wash with an antiseptic cleansing solution, take a benadryl like medicine (to help dry out the area). then just sit back and wait. I hope that other men out there read these reviews and save yourself a whole world of trouble.

Like many of the other negative posts about this product, I agree that it should be banned from the market. I had been using it for about 10 years with no problems. About 2 years ago, I began to experience itching after using it. Then it became worse, causing itching, burning, redness swelling of my upper lip, and scaling dryness on my skin. I was advised that the formula was changed about 2 years ago. My response was, "If it was working well with no problems before, why fix it?" Never, Never again!!!

My husband used this for 5-6 months starting early last summer with good success. Then in Dec he applied it and a horrendous red, puss-oozing, swollen, burning rash covered his beard-mustache area. It is still not 100% recovered more then 6 weeks later. I found this thread trying to find a solution for it. With all these reports, what is this doing on the market!?

I used "Just for Men" (beard, sideburns and mustache version) on my mustache and goatee and carefully followed the instructions, but shortly after rinsing the product off in the shower, I developed a very serious rash, with oozing blisters and extreme swelling of the lips and chin area. Today is day 4 and the swelling still has not subsided and now I have thick scabs over most of the still-oozing blisters. I am extremely dissatisfied with this porduct and would definitely NOT recommend it to anybody under any circumstances.

this is my story...2 days ago I slathered on the ole formula, having not used it for over a year my 'stache and goatee were pretty white, about 20 minutes after applying and showering I start to get a little itchy, before I head to bed I look in the mirror and am starting to see redness, thought to myself 'damn'...I awake in the middle of the night, my whole lower face is on fire...after looking in the mirror I'm shocked, my face is swollen, very red and is oozing this yellow pus...so, I whip open the medicine cabinet and give myself a liberal coat of 'poly-sporin' and back to bed...I awake a few hours later, my pillow is all gunky and I proceed to the mirror again, well, let me tell you, I was shocked...my whole lower face was swollen to over twice it's normal size, my lips felt like they were going to burst open and I was beet red and just a mess of slime and pus, man, am I going to die?
Through-out the day I applied poly-sporin, even though it wasn't doing any good I kept it up for lack of anything better, I would wash my face and clean with alcohol then apply salve, repeated every hour or so...finally about mid-afternoon I got tired of the whole routine and allpied a thick layer of moisturizer my ex had left in the bathroom...although it didn't stop the oozing it did contain it and it did stop the itching...I was almost in heaven!
Around 7 my neighbour dropped by, she is a nurse, she took one look at my face and started berating me for not going to the hospital, damn, it's just a rash, woman...so, throughout the evening she keeps bringing over things for me...and this is what seems to be working: Benadryl, for allergies, 2 at first and then 1 every 6 hours. Actifed: an antihistimine, 1 every 6 hours and she gave me a Rantidine: 'cause apparently I am gonna get heartburn!
I also got a bottle of Baxedin: an antiseptic cleansing solution, because she said the alcohol was irritating my skin and not helping and I also got a tube of Hyderm Cream 1% which apparently those with children know all about...it's great for diaper rash!
OK...I started taking these last night...a little over 14 hours ago, the swelling has gone down considerably, I can now eat. the itching is almost totally gone, the oozing has stopped and the redness is now quite a few shades paler...I am however feeling a little 'stoned' and am holding myself back from asking the nurse to marry me!
Hope this helps someone and I want you all to know that I will be living with a grey moustache until my last breath.

I have used this product several times in the past with no adverse reactions. Recently I purchased the dark brown for mustache, and beards. I applied it according to the directions and with in a hour, my face started to turn red. The next day my mustache was all dried up and oozing puss. The following morning, my upper lip was all swollen, itchy, and very sore. This is a serious chemical burn. If there is no improvement tomorrow, I will have to seek medical treatment. Also I will contact my lawyer and seek damages. This is not right. Shame on you JFM.
