I bought Jerome Russels' hair color and thickener on just the slight chance my husband would use it on "his" thinning hair. I found it at a salon where my daughter worked the register and it was on sale this particular day to my delight! I bought all the cans there were just in case. I don't like regrets. Well, time wore on and no luck on the husband part. But, almost two yrs later, I found *myself* losing hair each shampoo! Before I even got around to asking my Dr. or local beauty shops what could be causing this sudden condition, my hair had thinned so much it was definitly noticable. I was heartbroken. I always had the thickest, longest dark brown hair around! I could see my scalp where my bangs were and it was really thinning in the mid section of the top of my head where my part was. I would put my hand on my head and it felt like I had no hair at all!. I was devastated to say the least. Till........... I remembered those cans of hair thickener. I had hope. I tried it and what an answer to prayer!! It hid the balding areas by matching my hair color perfectly thus disguising my scalf for hair and even gave it a "lift" so to speak because of the powder consistency to it. I love it! It has raised my confidence to go out in public without dread. I can go quite a few days with it also; those emergencies we encounter, and it absorbs the oil nicely in that case. The hair loss may be hormonal, stress related or a vitamin deficency, but the product is a miracle! I'm on a mission to see if I can regrow some or all of my hair thickness back, but till then..., Please accept my honest and deepest thanks for a product that has saved my life outside my home!
Does the job!

Covers bald spots well. Any hairspray works with it.
Make up for you head or spray paint

I have transplants and they really don't cover like they claim so I also use spray on hair to hide male pattern baldness. I tried hair pieces before and they suck. Having poor transplants and spray on hair is better than a hairpiece anyday. However I do regret the transplants because they leave painful scars.
Every morning you get up and spray this on your head, seal it with hairspray and then do your comb over and add more hairspray. If you do it right you will look ok and people will think you have more hair than you do. It looks best if you use one shade darker than your hair beause it creates that illiusion of what you can't see the mind makes up. If you have brown hair, black is the best color because it fools the eye the best. This stuff is used a lot in Hollywood by too many actor to name because it looks good on camera with the right lighting. It's not hair in a can, it's a trick, but sometimes that just what you need.
The down side is if you get into strong lighting it becomes more obvoius especially if the light is overhead and behind you. Also, it is hell on pillow cases, shower stalls, bathroom sinks and walls, (also hats, telephones or headsets). If your hair is wet or you touch it before the hairspray dries it can be a mess.
Overall this is a great product that you will find you can't live without but you can't find it either because it sells so little that stores won't stock it regularly. It can also be embaressing to walk up to the counter with several cans at once because it is hard to find. You can find it online but some places charge double or tripple msrp.

Switched to Dermatch... It worked but took TOO long to apply... Sprays seem to coat better and faster although they do get overspray on everything. Usually the next day you see the overspray as it takes time to settle. Besides that.. I moved on to ProTHIK. Simply amazing!! ProTHIK blows the competition away with customer service, price point, value/quantity and last but not least... Quality!! Excellent product. ProThIK has my VOTE.
Great stuff

I have thinning hair on the top and back (bald spot area) of my head. In lieu of getting transplants or a hairpiece, I decided to try this product. I really couldn't believe the results. Not only does it completely thicken the apprance of my hair, the stuff wears like iron. I've been caught in rain storms and workout the gym regularly (sweating heavily) and it stays put. No brown dribbles running down my face; which waa a concern when I initially bought it.
Furthermore, it doesn't rub off on my pillow. I spray it on in the morning and leave it in all day and all night. I haven't seen a hint of brown on my pillowcase since I started using it.
I suppose the only thing I would caution anyone on is swimming. When you get your head really wet, it will start to come off. However to do this, you have to drench you your head. So aside from the pool, it really does the trick.

I have used jerome russell hair thickener for about 6 years now and I can not do without it. It is a wonderful product and it makes me more confident when I go out. I use it on the crown of my hair to cover bald spots and no one is the wiser as my natural hair covers up where I have sprayed on my scalp. I just put hair spray on to hold it and it stays on fine and I do not have a problem with it coming off. It is my secret and no one needs to know.!

Even my hairdresser was amazed. I have a very thin area of my crown and have been using this product for years now. When getting a haircut recently, my hairdresser commented that she couldn't tell even up close and agreed it was an excellent product. As long as you select the right color and use as directed, you won't be disappointed, plus it lasts and lasts.

I've been using this stuff for about 7 months and I couldn't do without it. I have thinning hair in the front and wear my hair up a lot. Just a trick that I do to make it blend in with the hair and look natural is wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo. When you get out of the shower style your hair the way you like it, then spray on the Jerome Russell, then rinse out your hair lightly under the faucet. The Jerome Russell will stay on the scalp and rinse mostly out of the hair blending the hair over your balding area. Just restyle now, looks really good and I do it everyday. The only problem I've encountered with this product is that after about 12 hours of wearing the spray my scalp itches and breaks out. A+ on looks though!
Does the job... And does it well.

I'm now a bit interested in dermatch, but haven't tried it yet... I have the thinning hair upfront and NO male pattern balding. So it's really used for bad thinning in the front... Major receding hairline in other words.
I wear my hair up and spiky for clubs/weekends etc, as well as down an conservative for work etc. And if done right, this product makes my hair look SUPER thick.
It's NOT messy and it does NOT drip??? I have no clue to why people say that... It's a very dry spray. BUT, it does give off a 'flat' look vs. gloss... and I only spray it on the trouble spots... but the surrounding hair seems to pick up the spray which inturn, gives the dull look when the remaining hair is shiny. I add hairspray to shine it up... But NO go... the product doesn't accept gloss sprays too well.
Main reason I'm interested in dermatch... Is for direct scalp application.. without worrying about overspray etc.
Secondly, I read something about someone swimming with dermatch and the product held through???
Jerome Russel will stay on... But if you use a bit, it will be on your pillow in the morning when you wake... And it does take a good lather to rinse from the head... So it holds up kinda' well. And it can make combing/brushing a bit tough for it's like spray paint in the hair... Very dry/glue feel.
If you put this product on... And don't wash your hair going into the second day... It will look even better!! Everything dries out and it looks super natural.
Good stuff!

If you have a balding or thinning area on the top of your head this product is a quick and good looking fix. The only draw back is that it leaves the hair with a "matte" finish which requires a good amount of hair spray to give hair a natural "gloss" as if your hair is "gelled" not recommeded if you want a natural "dry" look. Great for "spikey" or the "slicked back" look. One can gets you through about a week.

I had a tough time getting the right color for me. Other than that, I rate this as Average because I've had better (i.e. Top Coverage and Sprayonhair) and I've had worse (the spray from the Toppik people).
color is too dark or too light

i have been using this product for over a year. i have very thin hair at the crown and the product does cover it well, along with making the thinning hair much fuller. however, my hair is a dirty blond and the medium brown color is very dark and the brown/blond color is almost white! i have just ordered 2 other products to give them a try. in the meantime i am using the med. brown although it darkens my hair alot!

This product is nothing more than spray paint in can. Its unnatural, dry leaves you with a painted scalp with fuzz around it called hair. And its messy. Horrible product.

I am a balding woman, especially on top. This is a nightmare. However, this product has enabled me to keep my baldness a more-or-less a secret. If used carefully by someone who is really motivated and needs it, it is great. I use medium brown and mix it by spraying on the hair either silver gray or blond/brown. Several times down through the years, my catalog sources have stopped carrying this and I nearly panic until I find somewhere else it is available. I am so glad to find the Jerome Russell website.

When I first applied this on my scalp I thought it was great until I wipped my forhead ~ then decided to wipe my counter........This stuff was everywhere. Not only that I had noticed that throught the day it seem to be more noticeable around the hairline. I did not like this product and it is a BIG MESS to use.

This product goes on and dripps and runs. It hardly stays on and when it rains and the coverage disappears, it also gets on your cloths on doesn't come off. It's not vary dark.
