I recently had a hair transplant. As it grew in, it was like having my old looks back. I needed to boost the growth process so I used some supplements. For the finishing touch, I used Jerome Russell Jet Black Hair Coloring spray. It has such a natural look, that it amazes people who know me. It is easy to apply now, but when first using this product, watch for over spray. It wears excellently, and I am quite satisfied with this product. I am planning a second transplant, and it should fill in the rest of my hair line. My thanks to Jerome Russell.
It works perfectly

I had a gastric bypass a few years ago and before that I had valve surgery on my heart. I tell you this because I not only had hair loss after the heart thing but after the bypass it got worse. I tried a few other products with not such great results. For my kind of hair loss (thinning on the right side and around the part and bang area) Jerome Russell's Hair Color Thickener for Thinning Hair is definately the most effective. It does take practice and it took me a while to really perfect my technique but the results are really fantastic. After washing and blow drying my hair I carefully spray on the Jerome Russell's Hair Color Thickener for Thinning Hair where needed, let it dry and then spray with hair spray. After that all dried it is stiff so you have to carefully brush the hair without scraping your scalp itself with the brush. I am then able to style it and have recently been using a waving iron as well. It is a long process so I usually wash my hair only twice a week but it really looks the way I want. It's a lot better than running around bald and wincing when people would look at my hair. I hope this helps someone who has known this kind of heartbreak themselves. C. G.
This stuff ROCKS!

I lost a lot of hair after weight loss surgery and I need this to keep me from looking bald now that I am skinny...I was using DERMATCH and that stuff was a mess, it wasn't good coverage and then I found this spray, takes 5 seconds to apply and stays until I wash it out. the only drawback is the price and the fact that my bathroom is covered in jet black dust constantly.
This stuff's great!

My hair started falling out after the birth of my first child (which is considered normal) Normal or not I was devisatated and needed something in between to hide the bald spots. This stuff works great and I have two huge bald spots on both temples. I hope my hair grows back soon, but until then, I will keep using this product!

Considering that thinning hair is probably a topic most people want to be somewhat secretive about, I strongly suggest that Folica make the can more discreet and stylish looking. As it is, the can screams: "I use hair in a can!" I'm sure Folica can come up with something more elegant.
Works great for compulsive hair-pullers

I am a female with shoulder-length hair. I have been pulling out my hair for decades and have several large bald spots. The hair I still have is medium brown and wavy, so by coloring in the bald spots I am able to completely hide them. This is how I do it: First I wash and dry my hair. Then I fold a tissue (NOT toilet paper -- it breaks down too fast when wet) and I spray the "scalp paint" on the tissue. I then wipe it on the bald spot on my scalp. It works best if the scalp is fairly dry. If you really "style" your hair, style it first and then color in your bald spots. I don't spray the stuff right on my scalp or it goes on too thick and wet. I don't swim much, but it seems to hold up and not run when I do. I find that a little comes off on my pillowcase, but it's not bad. If I were a guest in someone's house, I would put a t-shirt or something else over their pillows at night, just in case. This product makes my life a lot easier. I hope you have luck, too!

I got the "blonde/brown" and it is horrible. It is white and seems to have almost no color whatsoever. Even worse than thinning hair. I would give zero stars if possible.

This is a great product that blends in good with your natural hair. It does not leave a shiny spray paint look. The only drawback is that it can come off when it comes in contact with clothing or skin. It can also be a bit messy if you don't know how to apply it correctly. I would strongly recommend it over Top Coverage.
Excellent

I've used this product for more than 10 years. It is excellent; don't know what I would do without it. My bald spot is totally hidden, and the product blends well with my hair to given a fully look.
Get a darker shade!

I have always used ProThik and decided to try this brand. When I got it, the can was a third the size of a ProThik can. Second, I have dirty blonde hair, so I ordered the blonde/brown shade. WRONG!!!! I sprayed it on my head and it looked white. Luckily I still had some ProThik left to darken the spot. I always use light brown in ProThik, so I guess I needed to order medium brown, or maybe even dark brown. I don't know. These ads need to show what each color will actually look like. The product may look good and work, but if you have dirty blonde hair like me, DON'T order blonde/brown.

I like the product because (obviously) it hides my balding areas. The thing that I do NOT like is..... I have black "residue" all over my bathroom....it's on my blinds, on my shower walls, etc. and it just takes extra cleaning. Also, there is black residue on my pillow case each morning. AND, if you don't put hairspray over the color spray, it will smear all over your forehead.
Product is not what is advertised

I received my order of Folica and I am very disapointed. It smears on my fingers if I just touch my scalp or hair, it comes off on my pillow and is not even close to my hair color. This is the 4th brand of colored hairspray I have tried and this is the worst.

Due to medication, I have experienced some hair loss in front. Not good for a woman to have bald spots. But I tried this Jerome product months ago, and have just reordered. This is amazing stuff! It doesn't just color the scalp like the color sprays do, it looks like it adds hair. I use the medium brown and it blends it perfectly. I can't tell you how good it is to have a product that works so well...it has made me lose my self-conscienceness. Plus the shipping was immediate. I plan to stay with this company for as long as they sell hair thickener. My thanks to them.

I just tried this product on a lark. Liked the price, and was more impressed that this brand offered a "brown/blonde" color -- most of the products don't really cater to those of us who have blonde highlights.
The good news is that when you use this, your hair stays a completely normal, natural texture. The spray is very lightweight and your hair remains quite flexible, just with some added strength.
My only caution with this or any product when you're not certain which color would be best for you would be to buy two colors. I ended up using a touch of a darker shade around my front hairline, and it blended really well to give me a highlighted look.
Overall, the product is a great value. I'd definitely buy this again.
Great Coverage... A Little Messy

I have used this product for about a year. As a woman with thinning hair, I believe it to be the best "coverage" in the market. Of course not all products are perfect... you have to kinda test it out a couple of times, so you don't miss a spot or spray too much. I usually spray and rub it in. It also leaves your hair with a matte look. So I use a hairspray with a shimmer to it. A little messy but well worth it.
Not for men only, a woman rescued.

I bought Jerome Russels' hair color and thickener on just the slight chance my husband would use it on "his" thinning hair. I found it at a salon where my daughter worked the register and it was on sale this particular day to my delight! I bought all the cans there were just in case. I don't like regrets. Well, time wore on and no luck on the husband part. But, almost two yrs later, I found *myself* losing hair each shampoo! Before I even got around to asking my Dr. or local beauty shops what could be causing this sudden condition, my hair had thinned so much it was definitly noticable. I was heartbroken. I always had the thickest, longest dark brown hair around! I could see my scalp where my bangs were and it was really thinning in the mid section of the top of my head where my part was. I would put my hand on my head and it felt like I had no hair at all!. I was devastated to say the least. Till........... I remembered those cans of hair thickener. I had hope. I tried it and what an answer to prayer!! It hid the balding areas by matching my hair color perfectly thus disguising my scalf for hair and even gave it a "lift" so to speak because of the powder consistency to it. I love it! It has raised my confidence to go out in public without dread. I can go quite a few days with it also; those emergencies we encounter, and it absorbs the oil nicely in that case. The hair loss may be hormonal, stress related or a vitamin deficency, but the product is a miracle! I'm on a mission to see if I can regrow some or all of my hair thickness back, but till then..., Please accept my honest and deepest thanks for a product that has saved my life outside my home!
Does the job!

Make up for you head or spray paint

I have transplants and they really don't cover like they claim so I also use spray on hair to hide male pattern baldness. I tried hair pieces before and they suck. Having poor transplants and spray on hair is better than a hairpiece anyday. However I do regret the transplants because they leave painful scars.
Every morning you get up and spray this on your head, seal it with hairspray and then do your comb over and add more hairspray. If you do it right you will look ok and people will think you have more hair than you do. It looks best if you use one shade darker than your hair beause it creates that illiusion of what you can't see the mind makes up. If you have brown hair, black is the best color because it fools the eye the best. This stuff is used a lot in Hollywood by too many actor to name because it looks good on camera with the right lighting. It's not hair in a can, it's a trick, but sometimes that just what you need.
The down side is if you get into strong lighting it becomes more obvoius especially if the light is overhead and behind you. Also, it is hell on pillow cases, shower stalls, bathroom sinks and walls, (also hats, telephones or headsets). If your hair is wet or you touch it before the hairspray dries it can be a mess.
Overall this is a great product that you will find you can't live without but you can't find it either because it sells so little that stores won't stock it regularly. It can also be embaressing to walk up to the counter with several cans at once because it is hard to find. You can find it online but some places charge double or tripple msrp.

Switched to Dermatch... It worked but took TOO long to apply... Sprays seem to coat better and faster although they do get overspray on everything. Usually the next day you see the overspray as it takes time to settle. Besides that.. I moved on to ProTHIK. Simply amazing!! ProTHIK blows the competition away with customer service, price point, value/quantity and last but not least... Quality!! Excellent product. ProThIK has my VOTE.

I have thinning hair on the top and back (bald spot area) of my head. In lieu of getting transplants or a hairpiece, I decided to try this product. I really couldn't believe the results. Not only does it completely thicken the apprance of my hair, the stuff wears like iron. I've been caught in rain storms and workout the gym regularly (sweating heavily) and it stays put. No brown dribbles running down my face; which waa a concern when I initially bought it.
Furthermore, it doesn't rub off on my pillow. I spray it on in the morning and leave it in all day and all night. I haven't seen a hint of brown on my pillowcase since I started using it.
I suppose the only thing I would caution anyone on is swimming. When you get your head really wet, it will start to come off. However to do this, you have to drench you your head. So aside from the pool, it really does the trick.
