Product Rating: 3 ehhh, okkk but wouldnt buy it again
Reviewer: A. from Montreal  Mon Oct 29 2007

well i cant complain about how it heats up cause its quick enough and gets pretty hot, no problems there, however i find the barrel is not ceramic just coated ceramic, which i cant see lasting for long (the coating that is) when i curl my hair with it and slide the curler through my hair it feels really rough and brittle, pulling at it, so there is no way its ok for the hair, as we all know all heat damages to a certain extent but it feels as though this particular one really does a number on my hair. All in all once im done my hair looks nice, it curls well but for what cost?? curly hair with split ends is it really worth the hassle? I dont think i would buy this prouct again, if you have fairly thin straight hair i can see it being okay, but anyone with natural curls with thick hair looking for a different curl i wouldnt recommend it to you as it seems to be really drying damaging and down right painful when you slide the barrel along the hair. Reasonably priced for what it is. Remember just cause it says its ceramic may just well mean its coated and for a cheapy price chances are thats excatly what it is... Good luck :)

I bought the 1.5 barrell curling iron a few months ago. Just yesterday I accidentally dropped it from my counter and the handle (black part where the cord is) broke!! it came apart!! This was the first time I have dropped it. I am very disappointed. I previously used a revlon curling iron ($15.00) that I happened to have dropped more than a few times and lasted 2 years with out coming apart!!!

This is a good curling iron. It heats quickly (wish it would get a bit hotter, though), the spring feels sufficient (it comes with replacement springs! - a first), and the cord remains straight and un-tangled. The product is as described.

I have very curly hair that tends to frizz in humid weather. I have tried many brands of curling irons and straightners inculding chi, solia,....this brand works just as well as the more expensive brands without paying the big bucks..........I highly recommend this brand in the ceramic......I have the 1-1/2 inch barrel and can use it to staighten and curl. Because the temperature can be very hot it is a good idea to use a leave in conditioner to protect the hair. My hair will hold well even in high humidity. I am very pleased....Thanks Folica for the great service and for carrying a great product.

I have had my curling iron for about a month now and I don't use it that often but when I have it has worked very well. My bestfriend who is a professional hair stylist and uses the hot tools curling irons in her salon recommended it to me. It heats quick and easily makes beautiful curls. This brand obviously last a long time that I see from them using theirs in the salon, so hopefully mine will too.

Reviewer: Ellie from PA  Thu Aug 09 2007

I have always used hot tools curling irons since they usually curl my hair so I decided to try this ceramic one. I only had it a few months, and was doing my hair for my daughter's wedding and the on off switch came off in my hand!!! I have never had this happened before and of course the guarantee doesn't cover plastic parts. I threw it away, money wasted!

This is the best curling iron I've ever used. I have over four feet of hair and I can curl it easily with this curling iron. The price is less than Ulta, the shipping was very fast and so I have nothing but great things to say about the purchase and use of this iron. I bought the one inch model.

This product is just great. Everything about it from the long cord which is never in my way, the weight, it is not at all heavy, the heat, stays hot all the time you are using it, the tip is long enough that you don't burn your fingers. I have curly hair and I don't even have to use the flat iron before I use the curling iron and my hair looks soft and shiny. I've had many compliments. It's an awesome product and not at all expensive. I totally recommend it.

Product Rating: 5 LOVE IT!!
Reviewer: HappyHead from Gilbert Arizona  Fri Jul 20 2007

I just received this exact Hot Tools Iron in 1" and I am soo happy with it. I was afraid that I wouldnt be able to curl my hair myself without getting burn marks to go along with it. I don't have great coordination when working the back of my hair. BUTTT this iron made it easy because it rotates on the cord so your cord wont get all tangled up. I read someone complaining that the hole in the top of the tip would cause her finger to slip in and burn. I dont have a problem with it bc it is all plastic so if your finger slips in, it wont burn inside bc the inside is plastic too. The cord length is fine you can dance while you do your hair =P lol. I never write reviews but I felt that I needed to let all worried buyers know that this is definately worth your money! Thanks FOLICA!

Reviewer: Janelle   Fri Jun 01 2007

I have heard such great things about this brand. Overall the curling iron worked great and my hair looked great. However, i have had to return two consecutive irons because the ceramic coating comes off. Both times I returned the iron I was told I just got a bad one. Luckily, they keep returning them and giving me a replacement. My next purchase will probaly not be a Hot Tools because of the hassle.

I like how the cord doesn't tangle, however, it's a little long and cumbersome. Other than that it does the job well and is light-weight and makes good curls without kinkiness.

Product Rating: 5 Best curling iron ever!
Reviewer: Kim from New Jersey  Sat Mar 24 2007

I purchased this iron because I have another curling iron from hot tools that I love, the 1" gold spring iron and I wanted a 1 1/2" ceramic iron so I ordered this one and it is great! I'm african american with relaxed hair and I only use a curling iron when my relaxer is about 8-10 weeks old because at that point my hair is really coarse and wont hold a curl. I love the variable heat setting and usually use it on around #6 and it straightens and curls very well! I'm very happy with this purchase and delivery was very fast. I use this iron almost like a flat iron too, it works well that way also. Buy this iron you will not be disappointed. I love hot tools!

I love this curling Iron. I have tried alot of different kinds and my curls usually dont hold up very long. My stylist recommended this one to me, and I tried it, and my curls within seconds and hold up very well. I highly recommend this product.

Product Rating: 5 The Best Curling Iron on the planet!!!!
Reviewer: Natalee Brown from Lubbock, TX  Fri Mar 09 2007

I never leave reviews but after I bought this curling Iron, I figured I needed to spread the good word. I have not ever had a curling Iron that would hold curl for more than an hour or two at the most. I use the 1" barrel and it is works fabolous on my long pretty staight hair. I can honestly say that I will never use another curling iron again.

I bought one of these from a local salon where I live, and it worked pretty well, but the ceramic coating started peeling off after just few uses. I have very course, thick, curly hair and it did for the most part make it smooth and shiny but the flaking was a problem. Also the high heat setting that I needed for my texture of hair often ended up making my hair smell burnt and damaging it- a problem I don't have with higher quality curling and flat irons.

Product Rating: 4 It's Hot!
Reviewer: susan pasake from New Jersey  Wed Feb 28 2007

I purchased the 1.5 curling iron and boy does it get hot! I have coarse, wavy hair and this is exactly what I needed to smooth it out, yet also add some lose curls. This curling iron does the job and is very affordable.
