Terrible...

I work at Trade Secret (part of Regis) and every time I have ever sold one of these it's been returned for a Chi. The Chi also has a lifetime warranty. So it's like only buying a flat iron once. Im about to open three of my own salons and I know that all i'll be using are the Chi Nano flat irons! Never Hot Tools.
big tool for small price

This is my third time purchase this product, and it's the best out there. I suggest if you have very curly or coarse hair. straighten small portion of the hair, and you'll get extremely silky straighten hair.

I've had this flat iron for 4 years and it has never let me down!! Until recently, the light goes out which means it goes off. I have tied an elastic band around the handles and now it works again. I would recommend this product to anyone!
But I must say, after hearing everyone rave about the Sedu (even though I already know this one is great) I'm tempted to buy a Sedu. We'll see, I have to figure out how to purchase it from Canada. :o)
great value

For the price, this one works just fine. I've had Hot Tools for about three years and it hasnt broken or anything, I use it about once a week and it gives good results, not as good as a chi, but for the price, its effective!
WORKS GREAT

JUST BOUGHT THIS IRON. I'VE USED THE SOLANO ONE BEFORE AND THIS PRODUCES BETTER RESULTS. IT LEAVES MY VERY THICK CURLY HAIR LOOKING SOFT AND SHINY. SOLANO WOULD DRY OUT MY ENDS! ALSO A BARGAIN AT THIS PRICE CONSIDERING I PAID $90 FOR THE SOLANO!
its ok

I had this flat iron for almost 3 years, it was amazing. My hair was flat and straight, I was so happy with it! At one point, it just stopped working, the light flickered on, but both plates wouldn't get hot. I guess that is what you get after 3 years. I am def. going to buy it again!
not too good

this was the first straightener i had ever gotten, and i loved it... but about 4 months after i got it, it stopped working, i would pound on it, until the light came back on, but it would only heat for a minute then it totally cut out... i ended up buying the same straightener again, and about 5 months later, the same thing happened. The only way i would recommend this product, is if you plan on just trying it out, for the cheep price, and invest in a better one in the future.
Great Iron for the Price

I bought this iron about a year ago, and it still works pretty well. I use it every day. It's great for the price and much better than Conair. Right now I've got short, layered hair (straightens in 10 minutes) but it also worked well when my hair was longer. I'm looking for a new one, though, because it's built up some strange rust-like residue on the plates. Overall, it's good for the price.
Works Great!

I've had my Hot tools straightener since September 2005, that would be 7 months. Mine works as good as it did when I first got it. I dont see how everyones breaks so quickly. It still heats up great, and it makes my hair very straight. I use it every-other day for about 30 minutes, and my hair always comes out perfect. I dont have curly hair, but i have wavy, thick, & long hair. Ive done my friends hair which is extremely curly, when it was wet, and it worked pretty good, but not perfect. My suggestion is if you have very curly hair to blow it out, and then use this straightener. I think its worth it, its works quit well, and it very affordable.
not very good

I have had this product for about 2 years i believe(it was like 50 or 60 dollars when I bought it)and it is excellent! I have never had any problems with it and my hair is truly very very hard to get straight. There is no other way I would do it then using hot tools hair straightner!
Won't heat!

I've only had my hot tools for about 4 months and it COMPLETELY stopped heating! The light comes on as if it were on and heating but nothing happens- My roommate just had this same problem last month and she bought a new Hot Tools but not me- I'm finally gonna put the $ out and try a Solia!
this is the best!!

i bought a straightener from a local store and hated it. i got this straightner from my beautician and it's the best. it gets as hot as you want it to and works very well. i have very thick hair and this one is fast and very nice to use. i highly recommend this straightner. most stores aren't carrying this product anymore so better order it online! way worth the price =)

It already fell apart not even after a month,, only used it a few times, it came apart on the bottom handle, the plastic broke. The only thing holding it together is the wiring. I would not recommend it.
