I like this product, I used to have a crimping iron from Hot Tools in the 90's and I liked it too. The only thing I am not to thrilled with is if you leave it on too long your hair, actually my hair gets a slight burnt smell to it, but overall I like it alot!!!
I love this iron!!

I have really frizzy, damaged, dry, puffy hair that can't be tamed. Usually after straighting my hair it will get puffy and frizzy again in a few minutes. This iron seems kinda cheap but it's the best one I've ever used! In my opinion I think this one is even better then the solia, and the price is even cheaper then Conaire or Revlon. It also works way better! This iron heats up super fast and it's super hot, which is really good because it makes my hair stick striaght without even putting in any anti-frizz products. It makes my hair super shiny and soft too as you can see in the "after" picture. I would highly recomend this iron if your hair looks like mine.
SUPER GREAT

This gets super hot super fast!! It would be well worth more than the current cost if it wasn't so cheap. I had mine for about 5 mos when it began to break down on me. Still gets super hot, but the plastic has broken off, exposing the gold plate's edges and now the iron pulls at my hair and breaks it off. And so now I'm super sad. BUT, I was compelled to write something b/c it's the hottest (literally) product I've found. My hair takes and needs lots of heat and there's no way I'm paying more than $30 for a flat iron that may pull at my hair. The ceramic ones that I have used in the past pull. This one does not. I'd buy this once a month if I had to because I love the heat. I'm purchasing two now since I'm unsure of how long the $15.99 price will stick, plus I want to take advantage of the free shipping for over $25 or whatever it is. Oh $19.99. If you need lots of heat, and you're mixed or african american, or have hard to control, thick bushy hair - get it! And don't be offended at the "mixed" and "afri.amer." terms please b/c its what I am.
I love hot tools!! I'd give it a 5 for the heat alone, but the cheap plastic breakdown makes it lose a point.
In the pictures where my hair is shirley templed-curled, I had to straighten it first. I in all pics I did my hair myself.
VERY GOOD...

I have naturally wavy, thick hair, and it gets more curly in the back. (it takes forever to dry) I used to have a conair flat iron, which is a complete waste of time and money. I had used this flat iron a few times before because 2 of my friends had it, and it worked wonders. I just went over my hair once it was totally straight and thinned out! Even in the morning and throughout the day it stayed that way! The good part is, it works on most wavy to slightly curly (especially thick or if you have a lot of it) The best part is, it was only 20-30 dollars AND folica.com ships really quickly! (I got mine in 3 days) The only down side is that I've been reading reviews that it doesnt last long but just take good care of it and it should last past warranty. I did not use any serum on my hair since it leaves it smooth and shiny. You can also do your hair no problem if you have any product in it, like hair spray or gel.

I have long, curly, frizzy, ethnic hair and I could either style it "stick straight" or flip out (or in) the ends. In the picture, I had styled it the day before. I did not have time the morning the picture was taken to style it, so I just ran my fingers through it and ran out the door. You can see it still looks very straight.
One time I let my hair air dry for about an hour and a half, but since I have a lot of hair (the equivalent of three people), it was still quite wet. I applied the usual products to protect the hair and then used the iron. It took longer than if the hair was dry, but it worked perfect and no damage to the hair. I would do this only in "emergencies" though.
I bought this flat iron two and a half years ago and used it almost daily. After traveling constantly with me, it broke recently. I went to buy the same one but they had raised the price at Ulta - $59!!! I decided to buy a different brand with a similar style, but it proved to be the worst, less than a month and it broke, it literally fell apart. I will go again tomorrow, return it and buy this Hot Tools iron again. It heats up fast and has constant heat.
When you style your hair, remember to do small sections of hair, I noticed that a lot of women try to do big chunks of hair at a time and it doesn't work that way (no matter what brand you use).
great!

This iron is great for all types of hair, especially thick curly hair. I highly recommend this product because it's good for the price and it works GREAT on my hair.
The down side is that this iron has a short life span depending on how often you use it. I've went thru two hot irons so far, replacing them every year and a half to two years.
I love it

About 4 years ago I purchased this flat iron from my salon for $55.00. I have used it almost every single day for the past four years and loved it! The power cord started to bend so the power would go on and off, I love this iron so much that I would prop it up and bend it just to make it work. My salon now sells it for $65. Since you can find anything on line, I decided to look for it and found it on your website. I ordered it on sale for $14.95!! And got a free pouch!! It came in just days and the power cord is improved!! It is the best flat iron I've ever used. I live in Florida where we have heavy humidity and when I use the flat iron the humidity doesn't frizz my hair. There's nothing like it. I love it. And I'll continue to shop with Folica.com!

Okay so let's look at the bad first. It last around a year give or take. It all depends on how often you use it, and also how it is treated (dropped and such). Here comes the GOOD....it works SOOO great. I have naturally ringlet curls, and I can make it super flat super fast. If I have to spends a mere 20 bucks each year, so be it! IT ROCKS !

I have this one although I didn't buy it off this site. It fell on the ground and the plastic parts broke but it still works. It worked decently well but it broke easily. It straightens your hair well for the price. If you need something cheap and good this oens for you, but be careful with it, turn it off right after you use and put it away so u don't break it. My hair is very curly and frizzy. I use smoothing serum, heat styling spray and straightening creme with this straightener.
one of the best

I have really thick hair and long hair and straightens well. I just got my hair cut to my shoulders and it still straightens my hair well. My sister has the same straightener and her hair is thin and kinky curls and it holds the straightness to her hair even in hot weather.
good but it damages

this straightener lasted six years. and would have lasted longer if.. i didnt snap it in half lol. thats how bad it was. after six years it took like more time to heat up like 5 or 6 minutes and the hinge was getting loose so it wouldnt close right on top of the 2 irons.it made my hair shiny and super straight! but it did soooo much damage to my hair even with a heat protector since its only gold plated and gold plates are known for snagging and leaving hot spots. it doess snag owwie! but itss ok if your hair is so thick that it doesnt get damaged!
love itt

Good...for a non ceramic standard cheap iron

I got it five years ago...was the biggest hit with everyone I knew because it definitely was way better than all the drugstore irons like Conair. This was before ceramic irons were popular and known about well, at least in my crowd. It did do a decent job straightening especially with heat protectant/ironing spray and straightening shampoo and conditioner. But you basically get what you pay for-it gets very hot and is way better than Conair or other drugstore irons. But since it is non ceramic, it gives some frizz, plus I hear it ripping my hair as I iron. It needs more touch ups the next day than with a ceramic iron.In addition, it is 2 1/4 inch-monster size plates and also the iron is clunky and heavy...not exactly easy to hold. And my friends say that theirs broke. Mine still works after five years but that is probably because I didn't use it frequently. Bottom line is you get what you pay for-it is way more effective than Conair or the other cheap brands. But it doesn't work as well as a ceramic, plus has the cons of a non ceramic such as frizz, damage, less holding power and is kind of clunky. You get what you pay for.
Awesome. Period.
