I was expecting a much better iron since I spent fifty dollars on it, but after about 6 months, the ceramic plates starting peeling off the purple telflon and it would tend to fry my hair sometimes. The real kicker was just a few weeks ago, one the plates just stopped working. Ohh I was mad. My husband took it apart and said that it had burned out the wire that tells the plate to get hot. So, for Christmas, I'm getting a Chi.

I have hard-to-style hair. After relaxing and air drying, styling my hair with a curling iron would leave my hair frizzy at the ends. So, I stopped using heat products and began pulling my hair back into a pony tail. My cousin, whose hair always looks great, told me about using a ceramic iron. I bought this one three weeks ago -- I LOVE IT! My hair has never looked so good, felt so soft or looked so smooth. It's a great tool to use between touchups. After allowing my hair to air-dry, I use the flat iron to straighten and curl my hair. Also, I like the temperature settings so there's no chance for frying my hair. I've told other people about this product after they commented on my hair. Now there are more happy customers!

i bought a Wigo straightener, but it snagged my hair so i bought this one and it worked great! it never snagged my hair and makes my hair look shiny and smooth. i have wavy, thick, course hair so this was a great helper

if you have uncontrollable hair, you should get this straightener. it's for a reasonable price and it works well.

Product Rating: 2 It just stopped working

I bought my Hot Tools flat iron in June of this year, and this past month (September), the purple paint on the plates has started chipping off. And now one of the plates just stopped heating up altogether. It worked fine for a couple of months, but I should have bought a better quality one, because it would still be working now.

This iron seriously fried my hair. There was melted hair build-up on the edges of the plates and then one day, it just stopped heating up. I don't recommend this straightner at ALL.
Spend the extra money for a CHI or Sedu, they are so worth it.

I have recently been looking for a ceramic flat iron. my friends had been using them so i wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. SO one day i was haning out with a friend and we we both straightned our hair. The straightener we were using used to be her mothers. her mom used it for years and then gave it to her daughter. her model wasn't exactly like this but was very close. i was surprised how beautiful my hair looked when i was done. i have waving and thick hair, so seeing it this was was a pleasant surprise.

One of the things you should look for in a straightnener is the watts. that is how hot it will get. that is one of the most inportant things. so now that i am looking for a straightener, i no what to do.

This is not a good purchase. It only has 10 heat settings and the plates will pull your hair out! Do yourself a favor and buy a CHI.You will be glad you did.

A friend who is a stylist picked this up for me at a supply shop. It was fifty dollars. I had just started straightening my hair and loved the look I got with this iron. It did a great job. Then, within six months of purchase, one side just stopped heating. After reading all these reviews and seeing what a common problem this is I am annoyed. I was going to ask "how can a company put out such an inferior product" but I, like another reviewer, did not submit my warranty, so I have no recourse. And as another reviewer pointed out - they exchange - not replace. So I guess they make their money since they don't give ours back. Bad purchase.

Went to a salon and my hairdresser straightened my hair with a chi iron. I did not want to spent that much on an iron. I looked around and bought this iron. Just spent a while trying to straighten my hair. It's a litle straighter, but bushy. I am taking it back in the morning.
I thought about getting the chi since I looked great when I left my hairdresser( and for 3 days later.) But looking on the net it seems as though more people rate the sedu Ionic higher. Thats my next iron......I will let you all know.

Product Rating: 5 Really Great Flat Iron!!
Reviewer: Kristen from Lufkin, Tx.  Fri Apr 01 2005

This flat iron is sooo great! I have short layered hair, and its thin & strait, but it curls and flips out in different directions, so I need a straitener to control it. I had been using a Vidal Sassoon straitener for about 3 years, and it works ok, but I would have to use a second iron on it, plus a curling iron to get it under control. Then my dad recently bought this 1" Hot Tools ceramic flat iron for me, and it does wonders for my hair. It heats almost instantly, and the temp dial is very convenient, and since the on/off switch is on the inside, there's no accidental switching off. I love what it does for my hair, my hair looks so great now, and I only spend 2 minutes straitening it. I also used it on my sister's hair, which is very thick and wavy, and the results were amazing. This is a wonderful product, I definitely recommend buying it. It's awesome!

Product Rating: 2 Spend the money on a better iron
Reviewer: shanna from Richmond, KY  Wed Mar 16 2005

I bought this straightening iron online several months ago. When I first got it in the mail I loved it. My hair was so smooth and straight. Even the humidity did not bother my hair after I would straighten it. My hair would stay straight until I washed it.

However, these results faded quickly. In a few months, I began to notice that the iron would not get as hot as it once had and as a result I would have to go over my hair several times to achieve the look that I wanted. I have fairly straight fine hair and usually I can run an iron over my hair just once and it will be very straight. This iron also does not heat evenly.

Overall I am very unhappy with the product and am now on the market for another one.
