Product Rating: 2 Disappointing!

I got this iron as as gift (an upgrade from a Conair model). It worked pretty well for the first few months (I really didn't use it all that often though) but now 6 months later, it takes forever to heat up and I have to run it repeatedly through the same sections of hair to get acceptable results. After a few hours the results are gone, which is really annoying too. And my hair is basically already straight, I just use this to get that really stick-straight look. I am disappointed with this iron! I just ordered the 3/4" Solia, hoping that it will do the trick. (for the $$, it ought to!) I'll be reviewing that one after a while. It can't be much worse than this!

I have had two of these irons, the first lasted 3 1/2 months, the second lasted less than 3 months. They just don't heat up. I am the only one in the house using it, and I take proper care of it. I would buy a different brand.

Im in cosmetology school and we recieve these flat irons in our kits. It worked alright on my hair for the first few times i used it, but my hair is fine and wavy. It's horrible on thicker curlier hair.It helps to straighten a little but it doesnt smooth what so ever. I'm definately going to have to replace it by the time i graduate

Product Rating: 5 i love it
Reviewer: Michelle from New York, NY  Thu Feb 23 2006

i love this thing. it doesn't damage my hair, heats so quickly, and straightens and makes my hair really soft really fast.

Product Rating: 2 Eh...okay.
Reviewer: Amy from Cali  Wed Feb 22 2006

I got it and at 1st i was really happy with it,but then after a while it starts to wear off and doesnt work as well and then the little spring thing broke =/. If i could go back i would have got something else.

Product Rating: 2 It's okay
Reviewer: Carrie   Sat Feb 11 2006

I've had mine for about 6 months and the first month it worked really well....but by the second month it just worked okay. It takes a long time for it to heat up and the purple coloring on the plates is chipping off. However, the price is right so I guess I got my moneys worth.

Product Rating: 1 the ceramic chips off.. dont waste your money.
Reviewer: Kayla   Tue Jan 31 2006

when i first bought this straightener it was pretty good. i have REALLY frizzy, dry, wavy hair and it never made it soft or shiny but it straightened okay i guess.. took about 1hr- 2hrs. then the ceramic coating started chipping away & now its just junk, it makes it even drier (which i thought was impossible) & pulls out my hair! i guess its not that much money but $40 would be a waste on this, honestly.

Product Rating: 3 Not Great for Mulatto Hair

I got this as a gift, and it did "straighten" the hair, but it didn't smooth it, if you know what I mean. I have really thick and curly hair,it's soft & coarse at the same time, but not kinky. My hair just studk straight out. I've tried pulling my hair down, and closer to the scalp, but it just didn't work for me.

Product Rating: 2 Waste of money
Reviewer: Maria from Minnesota  Wed Jan 25 2006

I bought this flat iron it worked great for about 3 months then it started over heating and the spring broke, so there is no longer a tight clamp. I would not buy this product! By the end of the day my wave was back, it does not stay stright for very long and I dont even have extreamly curly hair, just a slight wave in back.

Product Rating: 4 GREAT , LONG-LASTING !
Reviewer: christina from austin, texas  Wed Jan 04 2006

I bought my straightner about 1 year and a half ago. I still have it and there has been no chipping on the plates , it does not overheat , and it has worked WONDERFULLY on my hair. I thought that because i bought it for pretty cheap it would not work very well . . i was wrong!! I am still using it and have used it almost every day for 1 year and a half. Also, i have thin, wavy hair. I'm not sure if it works as well on thicker or curly hair. I would encourage anyone to get this if they ahve the same hair type as me.

Product Rating: 1 Cheap and poorly made
Reviewer: Jenn from canada  Sat Dec 31 2005

This iron works well... when it turns on! It is cheaply made and after using it maybe 50 times max it simply won't heat up.

like the person below me i purchased mine in february. Mine also overheats and damages my hair, on the side my hair oils are building up which means this is making my hair very dry. Also i have very thin fine hair and the plates are beginning to scratch.

**WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS**

Product Rating: 3 Paid Too Much
Reviewer: Des from Kona, HI  Sun Dec 11 2005

I actually paid $140 for mine because i got in from hawaii in a salon and i had the same problem of the purple ceramic stuff coming off. I dont know if it because i leave it on too long and it just melts away or what. But other than that it straightened my hair really well.

Product Rating: 4 so far so good
