I have really long frizzy hair, but when I flat iron it, it looks great. My husband and I were having a little get together at our home, so of course I wanted to look nice. Took a shower, dried my hair, plugged my Hot Tools flat iron in and...............................nothing. It was cold as ice. I bought this iron from a salon so I figured it would work forever. Wrong. It's too bad I bought it out of state and don't have a receipt any more. DON'T BUY THIS IRON.

I bought this straightner on ebay. I figured why not good price. After 3 weeks of great use, it stopped working. So I sent it back to Hot Tools and they sent my another one free of charge. It worked great for about 5 months now. Then it just completely stopped heating up. I don't know why this product has such a problem, but it does. So do yourself a favor and don't buy it! I recently bought a Vidal Sasson straightner at Target and I love it. We'll see what happens in 5 months.

Within 6 months a piece fell off the hinge, the letters wore off, and it won't heat up.
I will never by another Hot Tools product again.

My current flat iron wasn't working as great as before (used it for 4 years),so I went and got this one. Worse piece of tool. Made my hair frizzy. There is a gap between the two plates making it really hard to get it right. I am returning my flat iron tonight.

My friend owned it and did my hair for me. I was amazed that it could straighten my hair because I have extremely curly hair. I was never able to get it straight no matter what products I tried. This finally did it for me. So I buy one for myself and I just stopped working halfway through doing my hair. DON'T GET IT! I JUST DOESNT LAST.

My mother bought this as a gift for christmas. I had wanted a ceramic flat iron for some time so I was very excited to get one. I plugged it in, and it heated up in a few seconds, but then it got cold again. I tried it numorous times after and nothing. I took it back to the store, and exchanged it for the new one that I would think work. The new one worked once, and then the second time it worked for about 15 minutes and then stopped. I can't believe what a piece of junk this thing is and I wouldn't recommend this to anybody.

Unfortunately I didn't go through the trouble of checking reviews before I bought my straightener..... now one month after buying this one it has stopped working. I didn't drop it nor keep it on while not in use so I don't really know what happened. Regardless, it now just doesn't work! Don't buy this product, it's not worth the trouble.

I used this product twice and it broke on the third time. Do Not Buy This Product. Or any other Hot Tools Products. I didn't listen to the bad reviews, but I hope you listen to this one. Find another straightener of a higher quality because this brand totally sucks.
Broke after 3 weeks of use...you do the judging.

I got this iron new through Ebay. I was so excited how it straightens my hair in 10 mins. I decided to use it daily. Upon using it I noticed some deficiencies:
1. product is new, upon turning it on I smelled a burning smell through the plastic iron and a little smoke. But it disappeared after a few minutes. So I thought it was ok/normal. But it turns out, this may be a foreshadowing of what is yet to come.
2. while using it, the plastic surface of the iron does get hot. So better be careful! I also noticed the logo "Hot Tools Professional" on the grip are already fading out/melting away with usage.
3. After only 3 weeks, both the plates stopped heating up. Maybe some fuse got burnt already?!
4. I am still in the middle of corresponding with the manufacturer Helen of Troy, as far as sending it out through warranty. I am still checking if they cover Canadian shipping.
5. I am not out of a flat iron! I will be getting another one from my stylist instead. Something that at least he could swear by the quality.
BOTTOM LINE: I don't think this is of the best quality flat iron out there, Made in China, Plastic grips, handles, and surface. You may want to consider other brands.

This straightener works so well! I used to have a Conair and it took one hour to warm up and 2 hours to straighten my thick medium length hair. Finally, I decided to buy this straightener, and it works marvelously. It only took 10 seconds to heat up pn the highest heat setting. I straightened my hair within 10 minutes. I suggest you buy this straightener if you want perfectly straight hair.
Hot Tools 2" ceramic flat iron

The two plates do not completely touch each other, creating wrist strain to keep the plates pressed closed. The unit gets very hot in the hands on the higher settings forcing me to use the middle setting. It did however straighten my hair well and was easy to turn on(quick heatup) and easy to use(aside from aforementioned). I liked the rounded edges on the plate to allow for a "flip" haristyle if desired. It's a good iron for the price, but you get what you pay for.
