My fiance' bought this for me and I love it! I have never had a flat iron that worked so well on my hair, it was totally worth the buy! My Aunt told me about it and I would reccomend this to anyone who had frizzy, wavy hair!!
I'm very satisfied!

Worst Design EVER

Hot Tools sucks

Don't buy this iron...worst design ever. The hinge is right against the hot plate...so HAIR ALWAYS GETS STUCK IN THE STUPID HINGE!!! Don't know who thought of this stupid design. And the handle is so thin it's impossible to hold properly. I used it for a couple of weeks thinking I'd get used to it, but eventually returned it and bought the Paul Mitchel which is flawless. My first Hot Tools broke after a couple of years, and this was my second and last ever. Oh, and the ceramic looks and feels like plastic...so either they lied about it actually being a ceramic tile, or it's like 1% ceramic and the rest plastic or something. Spend the extra 50 bucks and buy a straightner that's worth it...you're going to keep it for years and your hair deserves it!
Okay at first...but then it melted!

I bought this flat iron a little over a year ago because I wanted a ceramic flat iron and it was a good price. I liked it at first...it was much better than my old drugstore flat iron...it is lightweight and is much faster. Now that it has been a year, and the warranty has run out, it has warped...somehow one side has melted and the plastic has buckled. It pulls my hair out..one section is all broken off. I do not recommend this flat iron if you want something that will last....I guess you get what you pay for!

The iron works excellent for the price, but, like many other complaints, the hair gets stuck and it pulls and hurts.
it was alright

i got this straightner like 6 months ago, i droped it like once, but thats it, i LOVED the straightner and it kept working after i droped it, but then like 2 months after i droped it, a crack started to appear, and it just got worse and worse, untill one day it was so ghetto, that the plate snaped, and hung off from a wire, and almost burned me. it was wicked bad. i would recomend something that has a diffrent handle, but hot tools works pretty good.
it straightens... but it stinks!

i've had this straightener for about two years now and it still works fine. i always got compliments on how straight my hair was. it only takes me about 10-15 mins to straighten my hair. i like how it gets really hot. the only thing is that the paint all scratched off and it pulls my hair. my hair gets caught when im in a hurry. and the worst thing... it smells bad... and it has since day one. im always scared of straightening my hair at other people's houses because of the smell. i think it might be the paint on it or something because i just bought a T3 wet/dry straightener and i doesnt have a smell. this straightener does get your hair straight... but it smells!
Its alright ?

Well im an experienced "flat-ironer", and this really didnt meet my standards. Im 15 and ive been through just about every flat iron there is. I got this flat iron for christmas after my chi broke... ( dont buy a chi please ! poor craftmanship) and It was alright.... i was mainly using it to fill in until my parents could buy me the Sedu that I wanted. It makes hair silky for the first 5 trys but the heat is nowhere up to a quality flat iron. It really has 3 big problems:
1) The heat is lousy.
2) the plates chip which is just proof that this iron is cheap.
3) and the handle rips out hair.
this iron is okay for a person who doesnt want to spend alot of money and doesnt have thick, curly hair. It just wont do the job. Invest in a Solia or a Sedu ! please !
hope this helps.
Easy to use!

This is the first iron I have used, and I love it. The iron is easy to handle, does not pull on hair, the heat adjustment is great, and the price is right. I highly recommend it!
i've had better

i have super curly hair(like shurly temple) and it is so thick. This straightner doesn't work well for thick hair. It works but it takes longer than usual to make it straight. It does though make my hair very shiny.
great product

i love this hot iron. I just got my hair cut in layers and i also got side bangs. It real makes my bangs look great. It takes me 45 minutes to iron my hair and with this new iron it takes only 15 to 20 minutes and i have very long hair. I would buy this product it really works. It also makes my hair fell very smooth and silky.
got this late december

Hey, i love this straightener! it heats up SUPER fast and straightens my hair smooth and soft to the touch! the only thing thats got me nervous is the paint looks like its scrapen off alittle bit.. but it does such a great job on my hair! i straighten my hair every week night and just LOVE this straightener... i dont know what i'd do if it ever broke... without my straightener my hair is a frizzy, dry, split ended mess! =P 1 to 5 i would rate it a 4 and a half... For the price... and it does a nice job ... If you are interested in a straightener thats not too expensive... i would suggest this striaghtener IS for you.. except BEWARE.. it has a bit of a stench... it sorta smells like food when it runs through your hair... this is the only thing that you would have to put up with.. but it leaves your hair looking silky, smooth, and shiny straight hair.. just like on commercials! Good Luck!

I used this from another stylist that used to share stations with me. She had the Tan plated ones... so I don't know if that makes a difference, but all I do know is it was average... it calmed down the hair, but didn't flatten the hair at all like most of the other irons i used. It was ok, but I would never buy it or recommend it.
Its OK

I am happy with the way the straightener works, but this is the second one I have bought and the handle broke in the same place as the first one did. They both lasted for about 6 months before yet again, it is time to buy a new one.

yes, this straightener sure did make my hair nice and straight but boy did it take forever. I have had two of these straighteners because the first one I had, after about a year, the handle broke off. The second one I had broke in the same exact spot after about a year as well. The paint started chipping off of it after about 9 months of use too. I have extremely thick and frizzy hair that i get relaxed and thinned. My hair is about an inch below my shoulder. With this straightener it takes me about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes to straighten my hair. However, i do not have this kind of time to waste every night with homework and all that. I recently ordered the Sedu-hopefully that will take off some of the time its taking to straighten my hair.

I have only had my Hot Tools 1 1/2" ceramic flat iron for about five months. I have recently realized that the ceramic plate(purple part) is starting to chip away and the metal from under the ceramic is starting to show. I have used Hot Tools products before and have had no problems but this is one I may not recommend to anyone else.
