I like the iron, it is like any other iron I have owned. It gets my hair stright in a fast manner, and it heats up fairly fast as well. The only thing I was bitter about was the delivery. I got it one day ordered, and it came four days late. So if you are looking to get an iron for a wedding or vacation, order in advance or you will look bad.

I My hair is naturally curly, and frizzy. My hair has been through relaxers, coloring, bleaching, and much more, so my hair is terribly fried.
Before i bought this iron i had been working with those cheap flat irons from walmart for $10. I had originally planned to buy one of the more expensive brands from this site, like the Sedu, or the Wigo. But money was low and i found this iron for a low price. i used it the first day i got it, and i thought it was wonderful. This flat iron gave me the straight and shiny look that would take me hours with my old flat iron, in less than 15 minutes. I guess i havent had much experience with multiple types of flat irons, but this one was my first "professional" one, and i loved it.

I used to have a CHI flat iron and it worked very well. I used it for about a year and then it died and when i did have it the heat would go on and off. My friend's neighbor had a hot tools straightner and it worked well so i decided to buy one. I figured 40 dollars was cheap for a straightner but they didnt have the one my friend's neighbor had. So i thought this one looked good and i didn't care there was no store credit. I came home with it and was very sad to find i had to go over my wavy, thick hair 5 times before it was even CLOSE to being straight. It also rips out my hair when it gets causht under the plates. DONT BUY IT!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE SATISFIED AT ALL!!!!!!!

I liked this straightener... sometimes except when my hair gets stuck in the end of the plates!.... and sometimes it seems like this straightener is kinda drying out my hair! but im still not really sure!

Product Rating: 2 Not for you curly headed kids!!!
Reviewer: Robin from Oklahoma City  Mon Jul 11 2005

Me and my best friend both had this flat iron and both of ours warped after about a year. The paint also started chipping off and it left our hair even more damaged. Whenever we went out in the rain, our hair would get frizzy and huge. It barely even straightenend my frizzy, curly hair in the first place!!!! So, I would highly reccomened saving up a little more money and buying a more expensive, salon flat iron. Trust me, they work SOOOOO much better. Chi's work great on my hair and keep it stick straight for 3 days, but they have some bad reviews. So -- my point is, buy a salon one, and don't waste your money on cheap imitations! It's like buying a Ford instead of a Porsche!!!

Product Rating: 3 not the best
Reviewer: Mikayla from Seattle, WA  Wed Jul 06 2005

The one thing I hated about this straightener was that my hair got caught at the end of the plates. The handles are also weird and takes some getting used to. I've had this for about 2 years for daily use and it still heats up pretty well. But I'm looking for a new one because the cord end has started sparking... scary(!) Also about 2 month ago the product doesn't heat up if I lay it on one side vs. the other. Definitely a product that may be useful if not you're not going to use it everyday.

Product Rating: 3 Not too bad...
Reviewer: Nancy from Santa Monica, CA  Tue Jun 28 2005

I have purchased 2 hot tool flat iron and both had to be replace with in a year. The first one broke after only 3-4 months that had it. One side stop heating up. The second one, the purple stuff started to chip off. It still works, but now burns and snags my hair. If you straighten your hair often, i woul recomend you buying a better iron. If you only straighten it every so often, then I think this one is ok. I personally just bought a SEDU and so far I love it.

the scissor action of the handle makes it extremely easy to use. My daughter has a much more expensive iron - but prefers to use mine when she is home. Mine has lasted about 1 1/2 years - and finally one side of the iron has quit heating - so its time to get a new one.

Product Rating: 4 Worth the price

I got this iron for the first time about 2years ago. I'm about to buy my fourth one in two years. My first one lasted about 8 months, thats when it still had the gold plates. My second one lasted about 6 months before the coating chipped off. Now my third one took only 4 uses before the coating started to wear out. I decided to try a more expensive one and went with the sedu, I got the same results however, surprisingly it took longer. So I'm sending it back and trying something else. I love this iron, I just wish it would last longer...

Reviewer: DeAnne Martinez from surprise arizona  Tue Jun 21 2005

my hot tools flat iron recently broke. It still heats and if I hold it together it will work, but the bottom cracked right off. It looks like the elements heat got to it and over use slowly cracked then broke off completely. I can't find my box so I don't know how to go about replacing it.

Product Rating: 5 Hot Tools Ceramic Flat Iron works great
Reviewer: Connie from Normal, IL  Tue Jun 07 2005

My daughters actually ordered this product. They both love it and say it works a million times better than their last hair straightener. I will probably have to order another one when the older daughter leaves to go back to college.

Product Rating: 1 Ceramic doesn't last long on this product
Reviewer: lwilson   Mon Jun 06 2005

I have had this flatiron for less than 8 weeks and already, the ceramic has worn off and the heat is distributed unevenly as well. Pass on this one and invest in a better product.

Product Rating: 1 Extremely Bad Hair Straightner
Reviewer: Sophia   Fri May 27 2005

I have hat this hair straightner for about one year. At first it was perfect it did the job perfectly and even four of my friends bought it after I did. A couple months after one of my friends bought it she said it snapped. I didn't think much of it until mine broke yesterday the EXACT same way and place hers did. Also it seems like this product kills your hair after awhile. This is a horrible investment and a horrible waste of money. Take your money and spend it some where else with a better warranty!

Product Rating: 2 falling apart left and right
Reviewer: Vanessa   Fri May 13 2005

okay. I got this straightener a year ago. I thought it was great. . . until 4 months later, as everyone else said, the purple stuff (the only ceramic part on it!!) started chipping off, and the plates wont touch. AND IT WON'T TURN OFF!!! The thing to turn it off is completely jammed. It sucks. Don't buy it.

Product Rating: 3 Not excellent, not horrible
Reviewer: A hair conscious 13 year old from NJ  Wed May 04 2005

I'm also happen to be in 8th grade. At first, I had one of those metal conair straighteners. Honesty, my only problem with it was it was time comsuming and didn't get far into the roots, but my hair looked really shiny and soft! So eventually I got this one, the first time I used it I thought it was amazing in comparison to the conair. I straighten my hair about once a week, and as time went on (about 5 months) the results weren't as good, and my ends were getting crisp. The ceramic coating started chipping off and it ends up ruining and damaging your hair. I have pretty thick curly hair, I would recommend this for someone with just a little bit of wave to his or her hair, not curly and straightens occassionally. I'm now thinking of getting either a sedu or solia, possibly chi.

Product Rating: 3 Great at first... Poor as it ages
Reviewer: Megan from Philadelphia,PA Yumm CheeseSteaks!  Wed May 04 2005

I had gotten this straightener in late December. It worked Excellent at first. 5 months later.. the purple paint is literally melting with big blotches of melted paint. The heat is literally burning the black plastic around the handle leaving these ugly white streaks and scrapes from the heat. It now is leaving me to go over my hair 4 to 5 times to get it completely straight. It doesnt take away frizz and my hair still does get fly-aways. At first is was excellent. If you were to use this product everyday , you would notice how cheaply it is made. If you were to buy this , i majorly suggest using it maybe 2 times a month or not too long. I wouldnt suggest everyday. I am planning to buy a Solia Profession Ceramic Flat Iron in the summer. Im currently in 8th grade and after june 14th when we get out of school. Im DEFINATELY throwing this thing in the trasher. It is only worth it if you are gonna keep it for 2 months. TRUST me, if you just bought this thing... you will absolutely love it, but its annoying also how it pulls your hair out! leaves your hair dry the next day... the straightness does not stay. its better then Conair but im just saying keep it if you dont plan to use it too much.

Product Rating: 4 Does a great job at first....
Reviewer: Lynn from PA  Mon May 02 2005

I LOVED it when I first got it. No frizzies, stick board straight and made hair silky smooth. In a little less than a year though, as the other ladies have stated, the plates don't touch anymore... it does pull your hair...and the cord gets tangled, as it is not a swivel cord. It got to be TOO much work to straighten. Worth forty dollars, but I think I might try something better.

Product Rating: 2 Don't bother
Reviewer: Gina from So Cal  Sat Apr 30 2005

One of the worst flat irons I've ever used. #1 problem is that the plates do not touch (lay flat against eachother) when the iron is closed for straightening. I don't recommend this iron. Spend the extra money and buy something better. Just bought a HAI which I absolutely love!!

Product Rating: 4 grgrr

Maybe all you pl who 's straightener is falling apart didnt take care of it. Or you have horrible unruly hair. I have thick wavy hair and it works for me so ..but i admit that it does pullout hair sometimes..but my friend has a chi and it pulls out my hair!
