i absolutley love it. it works great on my hair which is a true acomplishment. i have banana curlz and this think just ringed them out. it works really well. it not a wet hair iron so if you're looking for it to work when your hair is wet this is not for you it makes a wonderful sizzleing sound when your hair is even the slightest wet. other than that AMAZING! i definitly recommend it. it works just as well as those high end $200 irons.

Like many of the other reviewers, I had good luck with this straightener at first, however now, it does more bad to my hair than good. Mine lasted about a month before the thick cord started getting tangled. About 4 months later, I had to throw mine away because the cord stopped sending electricity to work the iron. I bought a new one, thinking that if I take better care of the cord this won't happen. Mistake, don't buy the hair straightener, please.
It worked great but it broke easily!

I have thick wavy hair, and it worked great, yet it took about 45 minutes to finish. I had it for about a year, and it snapped in half. I liked how it worked on my hair so much that I bought the same one again. Yet again, the second one i bought also snapped in half.
Not Great

This flat iron was disappointing. When I first bought it, it smoked for a few days. It often snags my hair and the "convenience clip" gets in the way. More importantly, it does not stay hot. My hair is not even curly, and it would take me a long time to straighten it. I would recommend this to anyone who has thin hair or is just looking to add sheen - if you actually need your hair to straighten you may want to invest in something else.

I love this product. I have had my flat iron for nearly two years and just now had to replace it. I use it at least 5 days a week. I have real course clurly hair and this does the trick. (It does get really hot, so be sure to turn it off after use to aviod burning surrouding items.)

i guess if you dont straighten everyday it would be ok.
HOT TOOLS FLAT IRON

I have had multiple hot tools irons and none of them I was extremely pleased with. Although they get the job done semi-quick and i have really curly hair, as soon as i go out side it completely curls up again. I feel as though the time I spent the night before was wasted. I have used other products like the CHI and they have locked in moisture better and have not curled my hair up at ALL. Also, the purple paint has wore off in the inside leaving me with an ugly metal and burning smell. Although it is a less expensive solution, i do not suggest getting this ceramic flat iron

I have had my flat iron for about three months, the purple paint is almost completly off and my hair gets tangles in it often, it also burns easily, doesn't sit well no flat edge to sit it on, overall very unhappy with the product. Trying to find a way to retun it to the manufacturer.

It's okay. It's not the best ever. I have really frizzy, curly and thick hair and this striaghtner would straighten it but it wouldn't stay straightened for the whole day. It actually frizzed out after about an hour. I recommend this straightner to someone who has manageable hair.
Be Aware, It Snags!

This newer design does not work. I had an older model and it worked fine, but it only lasted about a year. This new one snags my hair a lot and I had to return it. My finger got burned also.
severe burn risk from this model

This particular model gets way too hot, and because the heat plates wrap around the edges, the danger of burning your forehead or neck is real -- my daughter and I have both burned ourselves severely.

I enjoy this product, although I did read many of these reviews before I purchased it and I AM nervous that it might not work that well after a few months... mine has worked out very well so far. I think for the price this is a very good straigtnener. My hair is fairly curly and frizzy and I have had really good luck so far, I just hope it lasts longer than some of the reviews I have read here

This product is amazing! I use it almost every day during my cosmetology classes! It is by FAR the best straightner I have ever used. The sides do get a little hot so it is rather easy to burn yourself, but as for the effect it has on your hair, I give it two thumbs up! I always go to school with my hair being a bit frizzy, but by the time I get out of cosmetology, my hair is SUPER straight and looking AWESOME!

I bought it on EBay...good price but it pulls and breaks my hair when it gets caught in the plate area...I would not recommend it at all...I returned it to a store for a refund.

The One Year Itch

I loved this iron when I first bought it about a year ago. I've always had frizzy hair, and the Hot Tools iron worked well on my long hair.
Recently I cut my hair short (5 inches) and this iron was too big, and no longer hot enough to really straiten my hair or keep the frizz at bay. I switched to a 1 inch Solia, and the difference is phenomenal.
For the money the Hot Tools iron works very well (about 100 times better than any Conair product I've ever used).
The only downsides are:
- it stops getting hot enough (to keep hair frizz-free in humid weather) after about a year
- it does damage (dry out) the ends of the hair
- the "European designed" handle causes you to squeeze way more than you have to with normal V shaped irons. It is sufficient to say that I didn't appreciate the hand cramps.
