At first I thought I liked this hair straightener, I was wrong. I doesn't straighten well and it definetly does last long once it is straight. Also, the design of this straightener is very poor.
Use this if you want to end up bald

This is the worst flat iron I have ever used in my life... it is not properly put together so therefore it rips your hair out causing major split ends... I hope no one wastes their money like I did.
This works great

Don’t waste your money! The iron really doesn’t work very well and by the time you do two or three sections you’re so aggravated and angry because your hair gets caught in the tool and pulled out strand by strand which we all know hurts like crazy! If you can actually get your hair out of the cracks it has broke the strand or in some way damaged it! Believe me I have tried everything… putting a narrower section of hair in so it won’t touch the sides, holding it in a brush so it won’t flatten and get in the edges nothing works.
The best straightening iron I’ve found is the Ceramic Tools 1 inch. I thought it worked great (don’t be afraid of the 1 inch, it gets closer to the roots and it curls well at the bottom) and it does not pull your hair out! But mine too stopped working. Its only $40 and I used it a lot over a year’s time so I really feel I got my moneys worth. Its lasted longer than any hair dryer I’ve ever owned!
I'm upgrading...away from this.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's hair gets caught in the cracks of this thing. I thought mine was malfunctioning or something. I haven't had any problems with chipping of the ceramic yet, but it pulls my hair and breaks it like everytime I use it. Therefore I'm about to buy a new one. Who wants their hair to break and pull everytime they use a tool? Certainly not me. It's worth more money to buy a better made product.
great for the cost

Everyone says the paint chips off of this iron, I experienced the same thing, however after i got over my inital anger I realized that it seemed to work exactly as it had before the paint came off, it may not slide as easily but it still straightens my hair perfectly. I naturally have VERY curly and thick hair so i use it about 4 times a week and on my last trip to the salon my stylist kept saying how healthy my hair seemed. Im sure there are other irons they may work faster and not chip but for the money this is a great product!
If I had the option, it wouldn't get any stars from me

Product works well, but the hair gets caught in the cracks between the ceramic plates and the body of the iron. Otherwise it works well and is easy to use.

This was bought as a xmas present for my sister and after using it she told me of how instead of sliding over her hair easily, it sticks and pulls her hair out. This is not due to her hair being dirty or having any solutions in it.

I just bought this iron, I have only owned it for a week and my old Revlon $25 iron worked better. It snags and pulls out your hair and leaves a dull finish.
I am returning it right away!

If you are serious about having shiny, straight , healthy hair then I urge any one who is condsidering buying this probuct not to waste money on this cheap thing! It doesn't deliver fantastic results and is pretty Damaging to your hair mine started to break after about 9 months of gentle use. Get Sedu instead it is the best I have ever found.

My daughter was going through that phase where you hate your hair--you know--if it's straight you want curly, if it's curly you want straight. Her's is kind of in between
curly and straight and she would prefer it straight. She had tried many products, tools and procedures and was never satisfied until a friend recommended Hot-Tools Ceramic products. I ordered the ceramic flat iron for her for Christmas and when she came downstairs with longer, smooth and shiny straight hair and a smile from ear-to-ear, I almost didn't recognize her!
Pulls Hair

The irons work well and are a good size. The disappointment is that the grooves between the iron and the body of the tool catch hair and break it off or pull it out. It is very frustrating to use because of this.
straightens hair but is awkward, heavy and hair gets caught in grooves.

I bought two of these for my daughters. Their long hair would always become caught in the groove where the heating plate meets the plastic part of the iron. They would have to stop and reposition the hair to prevent further pulling. The iron was also awkward and heavy to use. I bought myself the Solia for $88 (which we all love) and am now buying two more for my daughters. I will keep the hot tools for our vacation house since at least it does straighten the hair well- save us lugging irons back and forth.

after using my friends identical straightner i asked her for the same one for my birthday. i loved it at first and it worked well for a couple months. however it later started to ware out and the so called cermaic was chipping off. the places that were'nt coated with the purple ceramic completely burned, frizzed, damaged, friend, and killed my hair. I was forced to replace it and i found the SOLIA which i love now and reccommend. By this hot tools straighnter if your hair is wavy (like mine) but u dont straighten it very often and are on a budget.

I have had this flat iron for about a year now, it still works, but not well at all. Maybe a few months of use later the ceramic had began to come off. And after this soon followed numerous, numerous split ends along with hairs turning half-sized from before the use. I now have numerous fly aways, split-ends, and dry, coarse hair. The flat iron lasted for awhile, but next time I'll invest in a better product, one that will last more than a few months and leave me satisfied with my hair.
It Only Lasted Three Months!!

I am very disapointed with the Hot Tools Ceramic Straightner. After a few weeks the paint began chipping and then after three months it would not heat at all. It was a terrible investment. My sister also has one and the paint is completley worn away. It did straighten my hair great for the little while that it worked. If you are looking for a straightner that doesn't last long this one is PERFECT!

I recieved this for my birthday, I had it for only a 6 months. I have had to send it back, the purple ceramic coating started to come off, I contacted Hot Tools and they allowed me to send it back, and sent me a new one, no charge. However, within 4 months the plates came off again, it has not burned my hair, but that is because of the products that I use when straightening. I am so disappointed. I am glad to know that I am not the only one that has had this problem, I thought that it was something that I was doing.

Terrible iron! I paid 130$ (Canadian) for this, and all it did was (literally) give me a headache. It pulled out at least 50 hairs from my head, and burnt me. The plates are stupidly curved so that the heat actually can scald your head if you put it too close. Horrid waste of money. Thank god I was able to return it!
