Product Rating: 3 i wouldnt recommend it
Reviewer: Casey from Texas  Mon Aug 16 2004

i wouldnt recommend this product. i recently started school again and i see all these girl with super straight hair and i wonder how come my hair cant be like that?! it is a so-so product. it is really humid down here and my hair frizzes up after i have spent like 30 minutes doing my hair! urg! i hate that! and it doesnt stay straight as long as i want it to. i am searching for a new one on this sight and i wanted to see what some other people said about it...i need a flat iron that doesnt frizz up when its humid. stays straight all day and makes my hair shiny!!!! e mail me if you have any advise! Product Rating: 2 Cheap!
Reviewer: Bob Wallace from Atlanta, GA  Mon Aug 16 2004

I purchased this for my fiancé. She only straightens her hair twice a week a best. In 5 months the ceramic has completely worn through. I think that is a little quick, that comes out to over $1.25 per use.

Product Rating: 3 ehh its okay
Reviewer: Lauren   Sat Aug 14 2004

so i have to agree with almost about everyone..it does work very well the first couple months but now it gets my hair caught in the edges and the ceramic is scorched and not to long ago one of the sides cracked off! luckily superglue fixes everything and for now is saving me from having to make a decision about buying a different straightner.

Product Rating: 3 Be Careful, it breaks after so many usages!!!
Reviewer: Sue Wang   Mon Aug 09 2004

The iron does work really great but I've already had to purchased two irons within a year because it breaks due to pressing the handle in order to cramp.

Product Rating: 5 this works great!
Reviewer: Andrea   Fri Jul 30 2004

This straightener is the best one out there! Heats up fast, has different settings, and works awesome! Definitely worth every penny.

Product Rating: 3 depends
Reviewer: Jeanne from New York  Thu Jul 29 2004

This is a really good iron...i've depended on this iron for a long time now and its worked okay...i have long curly frizzy hair and it takes me a while to get it as straight as i want. If your patient and willing to spend a lot of time on your hair...then this iteam is good for you. If you do your hair everyday and want quick, and easy straight hair, then switch to something else.

Product Rating: 4 four stars =)
Reviewer: Ren from Brooklyn  Thu Jul 29 2004

i disagree with most of the negative feedback on this product. i've had mine for over a year and i just started to have problems with it. i agree with the fact that during the first few uses this iron has an odd odor, but that goes away within a week or two. the only reason my iron isn't still usable is because my younger sister stepped on it. other than that my only issue with it was that the plates began to scortch after about 11 months of use.

Product Rating: 4 great iron!
Reviewer: liz   Thu Jul 15 2004

ok i don't own this iron but used my friend's iron. First let me say that my hair is avg. frizzy and wavy but it still gits on my nerves because it is also very thick (i have to get it thined). My hair before using this product was in good condition and still was afterwards just straighter. I did not want my hair board straight so this iron was great it got the waves out with out making my hair look like it was a sheet of paper (that is an all to common and unflatering look in my opinion). This iron made my hair look natural not fake. I am now concidering buying one of these irons because i was so happy with this product's performance. Just my two cents and yes i know i can not spell but do not let that fact distract you from the review. (the only reason i did not give this iron 5 star was because i have had only one experince with it)

Product Rating: 1 Don't buy this product
Reviewer: Margaret from Toronto  Mon May 31 2004

I bought this flat iron about a month ago and as of two days ago it won't heat up. Both plates are broken. It worked great at first, my hair did get a little caught at the ends but I was overall pleased, now I'm completely disappointed. Don't buy this flat iron.

Product Rating: 2 Not so great
Reviewer: Alex from WM, NJ  Sun May 23 2004

T-R-U-S-T M-E! do NOT buy this straightener!! The first time I used it, I thought it was simply amazing and worked great the first few times, but isn't working as well anymore. Plus, my hair is so dead and i have split ends everywhere and makes your hair smell horrible!! If your not willing to spend a lot of money though, this straightener is worth the price... a crappy $40 hair straigtener!! =[

This iron was the best. It got my thick wavy frizzy hair strait in about 20 min. But my hair would sometimes get caught in the corners between the metal plate and the plastic, and that hurts!!!!

Look at some others before you decide to ge this one. And buy the worrenty. It''s cheaper than having to buy a new on e in six months.

I got this straightener as a Christmas Present... I LOVED IT, It would straighten my thick wavy course hair in about 15 to 20 minutes, and it looked great! Usually when it would rain, my hair would frizz up, but with this straightener it stayed perfect... even if it was humid!! i was so pleased with it and i used it often... after a while i noticed that my hair had become very dry and damaged, I've always taken good care of my hair and this straightener was drying it out SO quickly, i deep conditioned often but i found it very difficult to restore. Eventually i stopped straightening my hair. A couple weeks ago I took my straightener out of its box again to straighten my hair and one of the plates wouldnt heat up. I tried to use it anyways (and it didnt really work) but while atempting to straighten my hair it cracked! one of the straigtening plates cracked off and was only behing held on by one string, the other string was broken (im guessing thats why it wouldnt heat on that side) i couldnt send it back because id lost the recipt and when i emailed them they were going to charge me 32 dollars to fix it. i would reccomend this straightener if you dont straighten your hair often, because it had great results, but it had a very short life

Product Rating: 5 My best friend
Reviewer: Amy from Oklahoma  Sat May 01 2004

I have very coarse, long, curly hair. I have owned other non-ceramic flat irons in the past and this one beats them all. I simply brush out my hair and run it through twice for shiny frizz free strait hair all day. I've had mine for almost a year and it has proved itself durable. Best of all, it works just as well as those super expensive irons at half the price.

I paid $60 for this iron. I doesn't get nearly hot enough. It never get my hair straight. This is one of the worst purchases I have ever made. I bought it at a salon.

Product Rating: 5 hot tools
Reviewer: marcella   Sat Apr 24 2004

this one is the only one to get!! it leaves hair so amazingly straight and shiny! the price is really good too because it is defenitely worth it.. hot tools is really the only one that makes really good hair irons!

Product Rating: 5 My Hair is Now Straight!!!
Reviewer: Lindsay from Seattle, WA  Sat Apr 17 2004

I have really frizzy hair that goes all over the place, but then I bought the Hot Tools iron. It's cheaper than a CHI or HAI, which I wanted, and it does the same thing, too! The iron smells bad sometimes when you use it, sort of like burning food or something, but that's what a can of air freshener is for. My hair is now flat, and pretty shiny, and I don't even use a blow dryer on it! I can even straighten my hair the night before and sleep, and my hair will still be as straight the next morning! I would suggest this to someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money. If you do have a lot of money, though, I would say to buy a CHI or something like that.

Product Rating: 4 Curly Latin Hair Made STRAIGHT!
Reviewer: R from NY  Mon Apr 12 2004

I have never used a flat iron before.(I had been afraid of the damaging effects)At first I was a little annoyed because my hair was not that pin straight that I had hoped for. I think it was because I was ironing on way too damp hair. But in time I learned that I needed a higher setting (an adjustable feature that I love on this iron) and almost dry hair to get the disired effect. I think paired with a good straightening cream that this iron can work on anyone. It is a good alternative to the more expensive irons. And no, there has been no damaging effects (as I don't iron everday). Ladies don't be afraid to be your natural curly selves either!!!!

Product Rating: 4 Humidity Hawaii
Reviewer: Paige from Hawaii  Sun Apr 11 2004

I live in Hawaii where the humidity is just a daily thing I have to deal with. I have coarse, thick hair with a little wave. I had two Thermal conditioning done on my hair before. I got tired of spending the money on thermal conditioning straightening which cost me $300 each process. I own a Conair steam Iron before I got this Hot tools. At first use, this iron wasn't as good but when used with a comb or brush, it got my hair really straight. I recently purchased a FHI but that didn’t work as good as this one surprisingly. The FHI was heavier and the plates didn’t touch each other so I couldn’t get my hair pin straight. With this hot tool, I was able to press the plates firmly together to eliminate the frizz and my wave. This is a good price for a good deal.
