I have had this iron for 1 year and it has peeled, which in turn snags my hair and makes it frizzy and dry! So if you want something long term do not buy this product!
pretty good stuff

ive had mine for about 2 years and it has just recently started to become a problem. but right when i got it it was FANTASTIC. though i would only reccomend it for hair that is already partialy straight or wavy. Hot tools is a great brand and i am considering switching to the 1 inch flat iron next. only bad thing was the handel is hard to hold on to, as opposed to the CHI-like model.

I got this iron for christmas.. and it just kinda seems like it doesn't work as well as it did before and the purple paint stuff is chipping off... also every once in a while it pulls my hair... and you need to find a safe place for it.. b/c it burnt my carpet and desk and countertop... I would recommend this iron if you don't straighten your hair everyday and if so get a diff. brand and a little more expensive...
WORKS!

If only for the handle design which makes it easier to apply presure without getting burnt. I have had mine for over 10 years and it finally stopped working. I have spend more money on the latest and greatest flat irons only to finally find someone that still sells this model.
It Sparked and Melted the Cord!

At the base of my Flatiron where the cord leads in just sparked and melted and died on me last night. I have only had this iron for 6 months. It started acting up lastweek when the light was flickering on and off. I loved the job it did on my hair, i just wish it didn't go on the fritz. Another thing to consider if you are thinking about buying this iron is that the handle is kind of awkward and the plates round out the sides...which melted my carpet one day because i set it on its side. It gets nice and hot and makes the hair smooth. And going back to my old one inch made me realize that the hot tool is super heavy the 2 inch plates are not necessary. My arms would get tired with the hot tools flat iron because it was so heavy and i have thick hair. Hope this review helps! =]

This is the only flat iron that I have ever used. I got my first one from my aunt and had it for almost 6 years. I just had to get a new one because it started to short out. Some times it would turn on and sometimes it wouldnt. I hate my hair because it is sooooo curly, wavy, frizzy, you name it, ive got it and i HATE IT!! So this is the only flat iron that i would recommend to anyone. All of my frieds love it. They come over just to use it for a fun night out. The only other thing that i would have to say that i had a problem with was the purple stuff on the iron, started coming off, but it still worked like a champ!! All of my friends loved it as well. They would come over to my place just to get ready for a night out (of course to use my flat iron). So it wasnt just me that used it for 6 years, it were all the girl friends using it as well. So for a flat iron to last me 6 years is very impressive. I went to walmart and bought a $50 flat iron just to get my by until i could make it to town to get me a new Hot Tool Flat Iron. All i can say about that is it lasted me a week and the piece of crap decided not to turn on anymore. Needless to say i took the piece of crap back to walmart to get my money back. Overall i would definately recommend this to everyone. Love it!!!!

I love this iron. I just bought it and when I used it it made my hair so silky. I have very wavy hair and I haven't straightened my hair for a very long time and I decided to do it again because my friend's sister straightened my hair a few days ago and I loved it! This is a great product!!
Model # 1199 Ceramic Tourmaline Hot Tools Professional

I purchased this product after using a similar model at my sister's home and fell in love with the product performance, however her flat iron was not the same model I purchased and it was stated to be a newer model. I live in NJ and purchased the product in Delaware. I tried to use the product the next day at home, it got extremely hot and I became impressed, it worked well for the first 5 pulls. However, the flat iron burned my hair then, I could smell it. I looked at the iron, as it began to cool then died. The light was on; but it would no longer get hot. I put it aside after becoming frustrated and thought that maybe it justgot too hot too fast and would probably work later on. However I tried it later but it never worked. Now I am stuck with a product I paid around $50.00 for and never got to use. I am very disappointed about this and felt that I could not return it to the store I originally purchased it at since I misplaced my receipt. I remain disappointed and freusrated.
Just another straightener

this straightener works, but not super well. the heat is good, because it really gets your hair straight, but it has these things in it that catch your hair, and the only way to take yout hair out is by ripping your hair. because of this i have split ends and burnt hair. the paint chips off, and it burns EVERYTHING.
i recommend getting something else, something more expensive and better quality.
Not worth a penny!!!!

When i first got this i was very happy. I thought it worked the best out of the best. Weeks after i got horrible split ends, and my scalp started to hurt. I realized it pulls my head instead of gliding. The purple paint is horribly chipped even though i bought it less then a year ago. Also i always burned myself, because the ends are too exposed. Don't buy this product save your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CRAPPY Flat Iron

I do NOT recommend this AT ALL. This is a crappy Flat Iron. No doubt about it. I've had it for two years on the nose and finally got a new one. I thought it was really nice at first but then it started to pull my hair and the Ceramic PAINT started chipping and i realized it's just ceramic painted over metal. After that chipped off half way it started to fry my hair so I had to get it cut constantly. And it started to smell funky when it would heat up & I cleaned the plates constantly with Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol) & couple different Flat Iron cleaners I bought and i couldn't get the smell to go away so every time I straightened my hair I would mist it with parfume. Obnoxious. The only thing that was good about it was that it didn't burn out. That's it. Everything else about it was not worth the money. I would not opt for something cheaper. When it comes to Flat Irons you pay for quality, trust me, I've been through about half a dozen.
cheap & a waste of money!

i have not had my straightener for a very long time (probably only 6 months) and it broke! i noticed the plates didn't grip my hair well and i was just using it and one of the plates broke off! it also burnt my finger. this product is one of the worst hot tools appliances. this straightener also snaps out your hair and gives you lots of split ends.
i would not recommend this to anyone!
not so good...

ive had this flat iron for about four years. dont get me wrong it has last a lot longer than most and it isnt that expensive. but MY HAIR IS DAMAGED! i would say i take very good care of my hair but this flat hair ripps it out! its pulls my hair and snapps my ends off. i have soo many split ends i understand that you should expect some because you are putting heat to your hair but this one give more thn normal. i would suggest just spending a litte more money on a better flat iron.
It Sucks!!!!!!

I have had this iron for 3-4 years and I love it. I use it on my african american hair between once and twice a week and it gets it really straight and silky. I have had zero problems out of the product outside of normal wear and tear. I am shopping for a new one and I want the exact same one I already have cause the purple is chipping off my older one but at $60 every 3 years its a fair price. I think I only paid about $30 for my first one at an asian beauty supply store but it has since closed down and I can't find this exact brand anywhere else. Never tried Chi or any other brand and I don't want to.
Don't spend the money!

I loved this hair straightener when I got my first one about three years ago. I used it for about a year and a half and it just stopped working one day when I plugged it in. I don't recommend this because the purple ceramic paint chips after using it only a few times and your hair will be damaged!
well.

because the purple plate was on top of the heating element it would rip the hairs out of your head. I prefer the gold hot tools flat iron over this flat iron.
