First get almost all the moisture out of your hair before you use the hot air brush. It does it's job on almost dry to dry hair. Also I have noticed it burns up more when used on the lowest setting, so use the highest setting. Also for hairstylist, you can take the barrel off and put it in quats to disinfect, then dry well. These do burn out, but I have found it well worth the investment. Mine usually last about 7-8 months with several uses a day. I've had 4.
