This is the worst hot air curling brush i've ever had. If you turn it off..you have to wait for it to cool down to start it up again. It tangled my hair so bad i almost had to cut it out plus it has actually burned my hair off in spots.
Wonderful for fine hair

This is my second one. I used the last one for 4 years and it finally wore out. I couldn't find one locally so I got on the computer and began looking. Thank a million for helping me locate the new one. I have real problem hair and this tool works great for me.

I have used this product for years. I have worn out 3 of them and can't find them in any of the retail stores anymore. I especially like the smaller 3/4" barrel and drying and styling at the same time. I'm buying 3 on-line this time -- one for use, one for travel, and one for a spare.
Bad Problems

Once you turn it on, you can't turn it off again and expect it to start back up until it cools down. So you can't answer your phone or take a sip of coffee or turn it off for any reason if you're in a hurry. Worse still, the removable hard-bristle pastic brush melts after a few weeks of use and can even melt into your hair. I have used a hot air brush for 20 years and never had these problems with any other brand. Too bad, as I did like the way it styled my hair.
Love It!

This item is so much better for your hair ... You can blow dry and style at the same time, just heating your hair once.

I have been using a Helen of Troy blower brush for over 3 years. I am ready for a new one and will be buying the same product.
not what I expected

After just a few uses the brush has started to get rickety, that is, parts of the brush are coming loose and it looks like it will get worse and worse. This is something I will be using on a daily basis and I did not expect this lack of quality for price paid.

This is an extremely great product - I would recomend it for the novice in doing a style. It is a comfortable tool to hold and produces great results.
The only problem is It shuts down too much!

I love the design and how it combs through my long, course, curly hair! I am rating it average because it shuts down too often (sigh). Don't use this product if you're in a hurry. It usually shuts down 3-4 in the course of one styling session. I don't believe I'd buy this product again because it is too aggravating (for me) to wait five minutes for it to cool down.
Understanding the Problem

I agree, the on and off again issue is annoying. I also agree that this is the best model for me, creating my favorite results. I learned that to keep my brush running all the time it requires regular cleaning. Here are the details: The brush has a protective thermal switch. When the dryer is clean, more air moves through the unit keeping it cool. However, as hair and debris collect on the units ventalation port, the air flow is restricted and the brush heats up. This causes the thermal cut-out switch to automatically shut the dryer down until a lower temperature has been achieved. If I don't have time to clean it and I just have to get it working fast, I blow my cool breath through the unit accelerating it's cool down time. Good Luck!!
Cool down before restarting?

Love this product except for the problem others note with it running continuously. I'm on my third one - but each one, after about a month of flawless performance, begins either shutting off during use or refuses to start back up if I turn it off, then turn it back on. If I let it rest for about ten minutes, it will come back on (but what a hassle when you're rushing to get to work in the morning!). It is an irritating glitch - wish it could be fixed because I have never found a comparable product for styling long hair.
HOT Brush Died

I loved the hot air brush when I first got it in August
of 2004, but it just wouldn't start up one morning in
January 2005. I expected it to last longer than this.
So I'm using my old Clairol hot air brush which is still
going after many years. Don't think I'll try HOT again.

So far, this has been the best product....combo curling brush and dryer. It's much better than other brands....and I bought a second in case there's ever a problem with the first.
Stops Working After a Couple of Minutes

I like the type of non-bristle hot air brush as it is easy on your hair, but it shuts down after a few minutes of use, even on bone dry hair that I was trying to style, not even trying to dry!! I have returned the product twice and the same thing happened with the third one. I am off to try another brand.

I agree that this is one of the best hot air brushes I've ever used. But it does increase the static in my hair. I live in the desert - so maybe that's why.

I purchased my first Hot Air Brush many years ago under the Gallery Series (from my beautician), which is now the Helen of Troy series. I enjoyed using it so much that I immediately bought my daughter-in-law one, and later introduced my sister to hers. My first brush finally wore out recently after years of hard use (the motor is still working); therefore the need to purchase a new one. I use it every day with ease and would highly recommend it to everyone.
