micro-mini curling brush
Why are manufacturers ignoring those of us who love our hair short? I cannot find a 3/8 inch curling BRUSH anywhere! After 10+ years, the brushes on my Windemere gave up the ghost and I can't find new ones even in a thrift store! Question posted by Muriel Ponder Fri Sep 05 2008

I'm in the same boat. I can't find one either, and I've googled the entire web for one. All I'm coming up with is a 1/2 inch.

I was just wondering if you had had any response. I am in the same boat you are-I'm using an old Helen of Troy 1/2" one that just doesn't do the job. I have been online looking for another Windemere a couple of times with no luck. I've gone the Goodwill store route, too.
what's difference between curling brush + hot air brush?
Can anyone tell me the difference in results are between using a hot air brush and a hot curling brush? I have curly/frizzy hair and have been trying the hot air brush...but I get a straighter but still frizzy look. Will this item help me? Question posted by Linda Thu Jun 19 2008

Yes, I spritz my frizzes with a spray water bottle and then use the curling brush for smoother ends.

A hot curling brush is more hot than a hot air brush (which seems more like a blow dryer). The curling brush acts more like a curling iron, but not as hot. I use a hot curling brush to make waves and curls, and it does smooth out the hair. If your hair is longer, I would go with the jumbo size to smooth out the hair and make only minor waving.

A hot air brush is essentially a ROUND BLOW DRYER WITH A BRUSH OR TEETH/TINES.
A curling brush is essentially a CURLING IRON WITH TEETH/TINES.
The former tends to get EXTREMELY, and I mean EXTREMELY hot while using and will tend toward more damage to your hair.
The latter, a curling brush is used AFTER the hair is dry, just like a curling iron but it doesn't sit in the hair like a curling iron and fry it. It gives you MUCH more control than an iron and is far easier to use.
Some models feature a "barrel unwind" button on the handle so that you just push it to unravel after you curl rather than do that "clink clink clink" thing that you do with a curling iron.
Some models also feature steam (use distilled water or bottled or softened (but NEVER Reverse Osmosis)water.
Minerals/iron from tap water will make your hair crunchy and bleached hair yellow AND shorten the life of your curling brush. Minerals are essentially pulverized rock and who wants to bake pulverized rocks into their hair???
Reverse Osmosis water will get way too hot and you can get a very serious burn from it. That's why you never ever should use R.O. water in a microwave. (I worked many years in the water treatment industry and have heard horror stories)
Another nice feature that I have on mine is heated tines (not really teeth, they're more like little triangle shaped metal "tines". It's super quick. I have bleached very curly hair about 3 inches past my shoulders and between my ceramic tourmaline wet~dry dryer~straightener and the curling brush I'm good to go in about 10 minutes. And NO, I'm not kidding. Been livin' a LONG time with this hair and I've got it down to a science and it wasn't easy!!! LOL!
Hope this helps!
No matter WHAT brand you choose when choosing a curling brush if you choose to do so, make SURE it has the quick release button on the handle to "free" your hair with each curl. Elsewise it is absolutely inevitable that one day you WILL get a snarl that you can't get the brush out fast enough to save your strand of hair's life!
I have a hot air brush too. Rarely use it. Only very very very rarely on my bangs. It gets way too hot to do much else with.
the tip gets too hot
does anyone have an idea as to what to do about my curling brush burning too hot to hold on to when i curl my hair? Question posted by dolly canfield Sun Feb 03 2008
Will it straighten and flip ends?
I have an old perm that I blow straight with a dryer and round brush. The curls sren't super tight, so I am wondering ... Can I use this curling brush to straighten my hair after it has dried? Can I make my ends curl under or flip out? What I want is to be able to brush my hair with a curling brush and brush in waves, curl ends, flip ends and possibly brush out perm curls to create a new style. Can I do any of this with this curling brush? Please let me know. Thanks in advance for any answers! Jennifer Question posted by Jennifer Sun Dec 16 2007

I'm confused because people seem to use curling iron and curling or hot air brush interchangeably. A curling IRON heats up and makes beautiful curls in DRY hair. A hot air BRUSH blows hot air and dries WET hair.

how do i curl?
How do I curl my hair with this brush.I recently received it but it doesn't seem to work.Do I wrap the hair around it like a regular curling iron? Just rolling the brush under my hair doesn't seem to work as my hair does not stick to it. Question posted by kay Sun Nov 12 2006

don't wrap your hair around it, i've tried it my hair just got tangled around it.
i also have no idea how to use it, i suppose you put the iron under a section of your hair and sorta turn it slowly as you glide the iron down and it should give you some volume and curls at the ends of your hair.
