I think this product is more for people who have weak and unhealthy nails. Not sure if it accelerates nail growth or not, although my nails did seem to grow faster. If you have no issues with weakness, chips, breakage or tears, then you may want to use a buffing system instead. Buffing stimulates blood flow and increases growth rate. | Over Nail Polish?

One can still use healthy hoof cream over a painted nail and make sure you massage well into the cuticle. It will still nourish and strengthen your nails. Great all over hand nourishing cream which penetrates and does not just sit on the surface of the skin. | | Reply by Liz

I think the method the other poster mentioned is ok for maintaining nails after you have treated them for a while, but I wouldn't suggest using on cuticle only if you're just starting out. At present, my nails are grown out, and I make sure I have a day two polish free a week for treatment. | Split Toenails that won't grow
