better than the others, go for the hai. i've tried chi (doesnt last) sedu (doesn't work) and solia (poorly made). i've been using my hai stik for over 2 years and it's the best iron EVER.

I bought this particular HAI Stick a little over 2 years ago. I absolutly love how it works, but it does easily dry my hair out. Any flat iron will do that to you hair however since it uses so much heat. I love the ability to change the temperature and it heats up in only a matter of seconds. However, recently, as other reviews have noted, the light began to short out, signaling the flat iron turning off. It has only done this occasionally, but I am afraid it will more than like bring my wonderful HAI to an end shortly. Great product, but not for an extended period of time.
Ok, but there are better options for ethnic hair

I have chemically relaxed and dyed african-american hair (shoulder length), and I've been doing it on my own for over ten years. I decided to upgrade from my old Gold N Hot flat iron for this one, but I am going to return it. This flat iron does a decent job on my hair, but I still feel like even my old G&H did a better job. Although the Hai straightens my hair, it does not feel as soft, smooth and “pressed” as it has with other flat irons. I know there are other options out there to meet my needs, so I’ll be exchanging this one to try another brand.
Pros of this flat iron:
-Fast heat up, multiple temps to choose from
-Flashing red light lets you know that temp. is consistent
-Smooth plates, no hair pulling
-Seems ideal for users with curly/wavy hair, or slightly frizzy hair. Also ideal if you have fine to slightly coarse textures of hair.
Cons (at least for me):
-Highest temp. was not ideal for coarser textures of hair
-Hard to reach the hair roots to smooth entire hair shaft
-Had to re-iron over the same small sections of hair more than twice to get the effect that I wanted
-Will do a minimally good job for medium or very coarse hair, but may not satisfy all users with very frizzy/ textured/ ethnic hair.
I would never buy anything else

My hair is naturally quite straight, but I've been using a curling iron to even/smooth out the length and then give some bend at the ends. Someone told me to try a straightening iron instead as it's actually easier, quicker, and more effective. After way too much research, I finally settled on this iron since it was a relatively reasonable price and had good reviews. I can see why! It takes me less than half the time it took me with a curling iron, heats up so quickly I barely have time to comb my hair out before it's ready, and it can even straighten out a crimp from having my hair tied up, etc. I haven't had it long enough to know about longevity but if it's reasonable, I see no reason to ever buy a different flat iron.

I was introduced to the HAI flat iron by my stylist. I was amazed at how quickly she straightened my otherwise wavy hair. It heats up quickly and retains heat. I was dissapointed that I did not get my FREE pouch as advertised though. Also, it would be nice if it had a auto off/on. I am constantly having to check myself as I am always in a hurry!

I love these flat irons. They let me work quickly when I am in the clinic in school. It heats up so fast. I would definitely recommend them to others. The price is just right also...

This is a great straightener and i would recommend it to anyone. my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and sister all have the same one and we all love it. i get comments all the time on how soft and smooth my hair looks and it is because of the straightener.

I just started using the HAI on my relaxed African American hair and my daughter's very thick natural hair. It is wonderful! No snags and easily straightens both textures with the right temperature setting. Those with relaxed hair should be careful not set the temperature too high.

I have very curly hair naturally. With other irons, I'd have to make sure my hair was mostly straight from blowing it out, and then do the last smoothing bit with my iron. With my Hai Stick, I'm able to loosely dry my hair and not have to worry about taking so much time to smooth it all out, since this iron does most of the work. I usually just put a little Biosilk in, dry quickly and then straighten in layers. I've also used the larger Hai, but I love that this one is small enough to get right at the roots, especially because I have bangs, but it's also powerful enough to still straighten all of my hair. I love love love this iron :) I get compliments on my hair all the time.

My daughter uses one and her hair seemed so healthy and shiny plus it takes 15 minutes to curl her long hair; So I purchased one several months ago and now I can effortlessly straighten my hair; I used to blow dry my hair and it would take me almost an hour; with this iron it takes me 10-15 minutes tops and I have long hair. My hair is so much healthier. The price 1/2 the cost of ones I saw in the mall.

I love it. I was nervous to buy something other than a chi but this is just as good if not better. I have really thick curly hair and you would never know after I use it. Enjoy.

A really great iron.... My hair is really dry and the iron works like a charm. Though I do need to put a bit of serum in my hair before drying and straightening.

I am so thrilled with my new flat iron. It heats up in literally seconds and stays hot the entire time I do my hair. I love that it has a button for adjusting the temperature as well. That is a great feature. I had another flat iron and it would take me an hour and when I was done it still didn't look the way it does at the salon. Using my new flat iron it takes me 10 mins!! and I have long thick hair!. I love it! Absoloutly - no question about it. I would recommend this product to anybody.

My hair dresser use to use this flat iron on my hair before he switched to the chi flat iron (which I hate!!!!). So because I disliked the flat iron, I bought my own hai from here. I love this flat iron...It keeps my hair straight but it looks flexible at the sametime...some flat irons make your hair pin straight to the point that it looks limp...I dont like that...I recommend this flat iron to anybody...I even bought one for one of my friends. Also I have extremely curly coily hair. I use to chemically relax my hair but ever since I started using this flat iron I havent had to relax it again...

i have had this straightener for almost a year now, and it works wonderfully. this is the best straightener you could buy for $75!!!! this straightener is also pure cermaic and good for your hair. i promise you will loveee it.
