I've had this product for about a year now and I'm still pretty happy with its peformance. It was my first expensive flat iron, but it absolutely does its job. I'm an african american and i'm still impressed with how smooth it leaves my hair, plus I love that I can control the temp settings. The only downside is the on/off button broke, but not sure if thats my fault or the products.
Best flat iron by far; better than Sedu

I just used both...the Sedu on one side and HAI on other. The Sedu is light weight, but took much, much longer to straighten hair as it doesn't "grip" the hair and it doesn't seem to get hot enough even on the highest setting(mine is shoulder length, and very frizzie/curly; I wear it straight, and no one even knows I have curly hair except my hairdresser). The HAI grips the hair, allows you to pull it down and always smooths and straighten the first time through, thereby allowing to finish quicker and look better. It's is heavier than the Sedu. But I'm putting away my Sedu and sticking with the HAI for sure!!

I use this to style my hair when I do have the time, which is not often, and I thought it was the greatest thing ever invented. I haven't used it more than 30 times in six months, so it's still in GREAT condition, yet all out of nowhere, it stops working. The light does not turn on and it does not heat up at all. Don't waste your money, find another flat iron.
Best I've used, and I have crazy thick hair!!!

I have used many methods, products, blow dryers and yes straigtners. Some people have even assumed I was of ethincities like African-American because of the kind of hair I have. Although I am Hawaiian and have extremly frizzy hair, my hair is a combination. Its curly/kinky in areas and soft and wavy in others, but overall FRIZZY! I have had and used the HAI Stick almost daily for about 4 years now (on the highest setting). I have never been so pleased or happy with a straightner. Unfortunatly, I think the people that have had theirs die on them, either did not take very good care or had bad luck. Maybe I was blessed, but my HAI stick has been a heaven sent. I have with out persuasion seen at least 5 friends purchase the HAI after I did their hair, and they are very pleased. I would recommend this product to anyone. I have personally used a CHI and feel that it makes my hair greasy. It also pulls at the sides. I have had bad experiances with hairdressers because they are not sure how to deal with my hair, agian I have A LOT!!!! and it is extremly frizzy. Even at some of the nicer salons their flat irons dont works as well as the HAI, enough said, but I would buy this one! Good luck :)

THIS FLAT IRON MAKES YOUR HAIR LOOK SILKY AND BEAUTIFUL, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, I BOUGHT ONE, 1 YEAR AGO, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RED LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE FLAT IRON WOULD JUST NOT HEAT UP ANYMORE.... I LOVED THE RESULTS OF THIS FLAT IRON SO MUCH THAT I WENT AND BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE JUST A MONTH AGO.. WITHIN A MONTH... THE SAME THING HAPPENED!!! I AM SOOOOOOOO MAD!!! ALTHOUGH I REALLY LOVE THE RESULTS OF MY HAIR... I'M GOING TO HAVE TO LOOK FOR A NEW BRAND!

i've had this product for about a year, at first i was satisfied because i had a horrible straightener before. But after having it about a month, my hair was frizzy, and my hair only stayed straight for about an hour, then it went back to the way it was before, curly and frizzy.
but my friend has a CHI it works great on my hair, and it does on most other people's too, so i would suggest paying an extra 10 or 20 dollars to get a better product, and don't waits your time or money on this one

I recently traveled to australia and it fried within 5 days even with the correct adapter and converter.
...
so I don't really recommend it for travel at all.
Anyways, another thing which wasn't so pleasant was that after 1 year product would build up and due to the design it was really hard to clean. My hair would sometimes get caught in it and the plates are covered on the outside so it's easy to burn yourself.
Pros-
It heats up INSTANTLY. I would turn it on, apply my hair gel to the rest of my hair, then straighten my bangs. Literally it would be hot enough in 20 seconds to do that job.
As far as straightening my entire head.. i wish i got something wider than 1 inch as my hair grew down my back. sometimes if you're flimsy you can really easily flip the bottom of your hair and that was pretty annoying. this iron is really helpful for medium long to short hair. i'd go for thicker if it's past your bra strap in the back. anywho, for curling this product worked really well. however if i did the other side of my head it sometimes wouldn't go through my hair a smoothly. (remember, this iron is THREE YEARS OLD)
QUALITY PRODUCT, and with only having those problems in the last year, I'm extremely pleased.

I have had it for six months and it stopped working - the red light will go off while I'm using it because the cord is in a particular position. It takes forever to use now that I have to keep the cord perfectly positioned and the heat still turns off. I will be buying a different brand of flat iron now.
This is a waste of money.

After I received this product. I plugged it in and it did not heat up. I've also heard this happened to someone else I know with this product. Too bad because my other HAI stick (the larger version) has been great.

HAI did a great job with this product! This iron heats up quickly and gives a result of stick straight hair. It's a consistent product. It's a great iron to use if humidity is a factor for your hair.

I purchased this product on the recommendation of my stylist. This is the same flat iron she uses and I've always been impressed with the results. It gets hotter than an other flat iron I've purchased and doesn't damage your hair in the process. Nothing but shiny completely straight results without having to pass over the same area of hair more than once. The cord doesn't get tangled and I love the heat dial...great for controlling how straight you want to go - or curly for that matter, you can bend, twist and curl your hair with this iron as well. I could have purchased this on another site, but the heat proof pouch is well worth it.

It is light weight and easy to use. I have mastered straightening and curling my hair. However, the iron has to be turned up to the highest setting and my hair is of medium thickness and curl. It doesn't do much for shine but that's not why I bought it. It's a good flat iron. If you have thick, coarse hair a wider iron is better.

Have long, frizzy and coarse hair. Does a good job smoothing and defrizzing after blow drying. Easy to handle. Temperature is sometimes inconsistent but all in all a good product that I would recommend.

I have been an avid fan of the Hai Stick since I was introduced to it my freshman year in college about 5 years ago. It changed my life! The original had dark red plates and heated up to a temperature that could not only smooth out the toughest, curliest, frizziest of hair, but i'm almost positive it could have caused 1st-degree burns upon touch... It was AWESOME!
This newer version is good, but it takes a couple of times going over the hair to get the result of the original. I'm not sure how it comopares to other hair straighteners, but it gets the job done and it's a decent price.

My original flat iron broke. So I ordered the new on- line. Like the company product but really loved my previous Hai Stick. The Ceramic was red and seemed to make my hair shinnier and smoother.

I am a 53 year old African American woman. I have longed to wear my hair in a natural non-chemical state most of my life, without having to revert to an "afro." Thanks to the HAI Flat Iron, I am now able to do that. It is easy to use, a dial on the handle facilitates safe temperature setting for all hair types. My daughters and I share this product. This Flat Iron travels with me wherever I go.
Although moisture in the air is a constant threat, all I need do is cover my hair with a scarf or hat when walking outside on a rainy or humid days, and my hair will usually remain straight and bouncy. The HAI flat iron is easy to manipulate, so I can curl my hair (which is shoulder lengthed)or straighten it out to a sleek straight style. My daughter is a licensed Cosmetologist, and she recommended the HAI to me after I expressed frustration with regular commercial flat irons. The HAI is best.
