For the record...the hai website says this has a 3 year warranty, so use it & don't complain like so many people did in the reviews. That's a long warranty. And paying for S&H for a brand new straightener is a lot better than purchasing another one for +/-$100.

Try placing an ionic paddle brush in the freezer before ironing your hair. As soon as you're finished with each section of your hair, run the cold brush through the warm strands of hair once they've cooled down slightly. It'll help seal your hair to prevent curling or distortion. Cold air of any sort helps as well.

If you are getting frizzy hair when using this iron try this: submitted by: Elizabeth, Wed Nov 22 2006

I most definitely recommend only using the suggested temp. for your hair type given in the instructions for the HAI Convertable Flat Iron. I foudn that when I turned the temperaure up thinking that my hair would be straighter, it only made my hair really frizzy. When I used the recommended temperature it straightened my hair more efficiently and kept it from getting as frizzy. So use the recommended temperature only!

Highly recommended when travelling or storing straightener "DO NOT" whined up cord around straightener over time it will wreck cord and you'll loose electric connection of heat source on iron, which happened to me. Try and keep cord untwisted."YES" i agree with other users of this straightener the cord is NOT a durable one. If it was this straightener would be a "10"!, Take proper care of tools and they will last.
About the less frizzy submitted by: HAI girl, Thu Apr 20 2006

If you straighten your hair when it is still damp it will fry it. It might not show the first several times you do that, but it will eventually fry and break off your hair. My sister learned the hard way so make sure your hair is completely dry before using any straightener except those designed for wet hair usage. This is a very good straightener that will not break your hair. I've tried others but this one works better than any other!!!
Less Frizz; Straighter Hair. ~ submitted by: Sanaz., Sun Apr 17 2005

If you would like your hair to frizz less and be much straighter, try this:
First you should take a shower and shampoo, use conditioner very well, and apply any hair creme when your hair is wet, but not soaking. I have tried L'Oreal Viva creme, and it is very satisfying. Blow-dry your hair until it is damp, not wet. Before you iron your hair, seperate it into sections on the top, bottom, adn sides of your hair. Start on the bottom half, and then the sides and top. When you iron your hair, hold it with a round brush and pull down so it is straight while you iron your hair in that position.

The HAI Convertable Ceramic Flat Iron is a squeeze-sensitive iron, meaning that a tighter squeeze will direct more ceramic heat to the hair.
