The iron worked excellent for a while, a couple of months, but after a few months the blue coating started peeling off of the paddles, I have tried contacting the company for a replacement quite a few times but nooone ever responds to my e-mails. Would I buy it again, not really too expensive and poor customer service.

Buy this straightening iron! For the price it is reallllly good. It's the least damaging of any straightener i've tried. I've had it for almost a year and a half and it's still working really well. It heats up so fast. Make sure you have good products in your hair to make the results last and look even better. Hope i helped! :)

My daughters and I were happy with the flat iron, but for the price I feel it should have lasted much longer than four months. Now, I'm in the market for another flat iron and it will not be a Hai product.

All of my friends suggested that I get the HAI - It's reasonably priced and works great. I was pleasantly surprised. I have thick long hair and it still works great. I suggest anyone buy this flat iron.
2nd one in 2 years to break! BUYER BEWARE!!!

I bought my first Hai in 2004 and liked it. It worked well with my blonde wavy hair. It broke a year later due to a bad connection in the cord, so basically I was stuck and had to buy a new one because they only have a year warranty. I bought my next one with Priority Shipping in late 2005 and it just broke! I was just ironing my hair and same thing happened, something in the cord is no longer maintaining a connection. My sister has gone through 2 Hai's as well, I'd be careful with this hair iron. Not the best quality considering the money you spend on it. I went and got a wayy cheaper one and I'm just as satisfied. NEVER AGAIN FOR THE HAI! And the Customer Service Department at HAI is AWFUL! :(

There is no hair pulling, snagging with this product. I am a first-time user of flat irons. I initially bought the Solia 1" and returned it. My hair did get caught in that and it's much quicker using a 1-1/4" flat iron. I'm addicted. I took it with me to the Caribbean and used it every day. My hair usually frizzes out, but after using this every day, I had great hair. I would definitely recommend this product. It also is easier to use the more you use it.

i bought this flat iron in june and i work at a hair salon so i know how it works. it worked extremely well...so i bought one after i broke my chi flat iron. well surely enough like other reviews it broke after 1 month. so i waited to buy another one.i bought one at the beginning of october and the first time i used it it turned off and wouldnt turn back on.so i spent $55 to send it back.i just received a brand new one and i tried to use it again for the first time and now it wont even turn back on!!!i love this flat iron but i just keep getting broken ones.

I gave this iron 3 stars because when it DID work it was average. I own a small salon so it is not used a little more than the average person. I have been using my CHI for 5 years and the cord went bad so I tried th HAI because of the great reviews. It is not as efficient as my old CHI. It is not as smooth either.
When I tried to turn my HAI on this morning, it would not turn on. I will be returning it.

I noticed that the plates don't line up when they are closed. There is a lot of sideways movement which makes it difficult to control.

My hairstylist let me borrow her straight iron and it was wonderful...I had to buy it!! I had a ConAir one forever and it kind of did the job. I never knew that my hair could be this straight! I love it!

soo i bought a HAI straightner, actully this one and lemmy me say IT DOES WORK GREAT!
buttt i only had it for a year and all the sudden it would be pluged in, andi would set it down and the light would turn of and not heat up, after one year i thought wut the hell you know? but as long as you take care of it ( whitch i addmite i did drop it a few times) i think it will work for long. it got me to school earlie and made hair time cut WAYY much.i have naturly frizzy curly hair and its amazing (: im buying another one

I am an african american female with shoulder length permed hair and prone to hair loss. I was getting tired
of a wet set which did worst in humidty so I decided to try a straighter look. Aftera shampoo and deep conditioner I blow dryed my hair on cool to slightly warm settings.
I then sprayed my hair with a silk infusion product and sectioned hair. Ilike the variable heat setting and found that a temp about 300 worked perfect with one pass of the iron through each section of my hair. It really straightens, without any burning, popping, or smell of burnt hair/damage, which I attribute to the variable heat
setting which allows you to find the right setting for your hair. I also used this on my 13 year old daughters hair which is longer and thicker than mine and she was happy with the result.This product is definately a hair straightner and will not allow you to curl or bump the ends. I think I will still have to purchase some sort of ceramic/curler even to curl the ends under slightly. Also
time will tell how the straightening holds up on humid/hot days or how it looks after several days. But I still think
it is an easy to use and a safe product. I am not a beautician. I would definately recommend this product.
