Product Rating: 5 It's a miracle!!!!!!!!!
Reviewer: Ingrid from Richmond, VA  Thu Feb 05 2009

Wow...I got mine 2 days ago and i used it this morning...amazing, I straighten my hair EVERYDAY, and it is dry with lots of split ends...with my old straightner you could really tell how damaged my hair is plus i had to run it twice through my hair so it would stay straight. This morning i had the best experience with the HAI, I only did it once and it was shiny and straight i couldnt believe all the reviews i read were real! i am sooo happy with it, its the best i've ever tried and i've tried them all since i straighten my hair everyday for about 10 yrs now! You cant even tell my split ends are as bad as they really are and my hair does not look dry today! i am sooo excited! sounds a lil childish but females understand! guys here are work think im crazy but i love to take care of my hair and look good at the same time! I definately recommend anyone who wants straight shiny hair with the least damage possible to buy HAI Convertible it is so light and small, very easy to manage plus works wonders!

Product Rating: 1 BREAKS IN ONE DAY
Reviewer: Martha Hanson from California  Sun Jan 25 2009

This straightener worked great for about a day or two. Then it just stopped working and wouldn't heat up! I was so sad because on the first day it worked very well, then broke. I bought for $120 so it was very expensive to and I cannot get my money back. DO NOT BUY THIS STRAIGHTENER!

Product Rating: 5 3 Years and still going strong
Reviewer: Jenn K from Los Angeles, CA  Thu Jan 22 2009

I absolutely love this flat iron. You can straighten, curl, flip, everything with this iron! I have mine on 300* and it makes my hair super shiny and is the least damaging iron I've tried.
I've never had a problem with the cord. If you wrap the cord around the body of the iron that's what's causing the damage from twisting and pulling at the base, thats how they break.
I've dropped mine twice on my tile and it hasn't broken so I'm lucky that they make these pretty solid. Folica's price is unbeatable. If mine ever breaks I'll be purchasing here.

Product Rating: 5 Reliable with excellent results!
Reviewer: Desiree from Los Angeles, CA  Tue Jan 13 2009

I have had the HAI for about 5 years. I bought it off of my stylist in Beverly Hills. I love the wide temperature range; it lets me do my bangs at a lower temp on a daily basis without damaging them, but also I can turn up the heat to straighten my very thick, coarse, curly hair. It heats up in just seconds. I have never had a problem with it and when it does finally give in I plan on buying another one.

Never knew I could get my hair so straight and shiny. I have unprocessed very very curly hair.

Product Rating: 5 AMAZING
Reviewer: Micaela   Sat Jan 03 2009

i have had this straightener for like 3 years already and it still works great. although i might take care of it more than others, it is still wonderful. the only thing i can think of that would make it bad is if you beat it up and throw it around all the time. but it works great and its good for me because i have really un-managable frizzy and poofy hair.

Product Rating: 2 It's OKAY
Reviewer: bailey from california  Mon Dec 22 2008

My friend has this flat iron. It works the same as my 40 dollar one my friend got for me from wal-mart. I was pretty excited to use it but when I used it I wasa little dissapointed. My hair didn't stay straight for very long (like half an hour, with hairspray too!), and my hair isn't super wavy or anything either. I wouldn't recommend buying this :/

Product Rating: 1 I don't like it.
Reviewer: Lady Rhonda from Charlotte, NC  Sat Dec 20 2008

I have this flat iron when I was transitioning from a perm to being natural. Even then I worked ok but it was no better than my ceramic gold n hot which was on $29.99. If you are a natural like I am now this flat iron does nothing for your hair. I think in the middle broke within a week and I'm quite gentle with my stuff. Just to give you an idea of what my hair is like...I have really curly hair and when I used the iron I will have to run it through 5 or 6 times and it was on the highest setting. I don't think it's worth the price even if it is on sale.

Product Rating: 5 My precious baby died after four amazing years :(
Reviewer: HAI enthusiast from Houston  Tue Dec 16 2008

Yes, it died. BUT I will gladly purchase another one! In fact, I have been switching off between two straighteners over the last three years: this product, and the CHI 2-inch turbo. Let me tell you -- the CHI gets it straight, but dries my hair out. This HAI product REALLY does seal in moisture.

It did break, though. Just like so many other ladies are saying, the cord on mine got loose. BUT -- I admit, every day when I finished using it, I let the cord hang from my bathroom counter top. I would recommend making sure that when it's not being used, the cord and base of it are lying on a flat surface. Gravity was never good for anything!

Also, my hair type is thick, coarse and wavy. It stayed straight even in the humid, gulf-coast environment I live in.

Product Rating: 4 Good but I like the Chi Better
Reviewer: Lindsey from Long Beach, CA  Tue Dec 02 2008

I think this is a good straightening iron but it does not seem to be as efficient as my old Chi. It does seem to dry out the hair and not have that much of a "smoothing" effect. I would not reccomend it to someone with very curly/wavy/frizzy hair.

Product Rating: 3 Dies Out
Reviewer: Holly   Tue Nov 25 2008

I've had this flat iron for a 1.5 years. It worked really good at first and I loved it. But only after six months, I noticed my hair had a lot of damage (I don't wash my hair everyday) and was bummed because this was supposed to have that magic cermaic technology. In the last six months it has also really died out. It takes more effort with this iron to get my hair straight. I think if you're going to spend some money on a flat iron, get a really good one, like a GHD. Make it last!!

Product Rating: 5 i'm a hairdresser
Reviewer: nicole from dalton, ga  Thu Nov 13 2008

i have used all the big name flat irons, and this is by far my favorite! every hairdresser friend that has tried it- buys one, and all of my clients love it! plus you can't beat the price!

Product Rating: 5 lasts a long time!
Reviewer: Ali from CA  Sat Nov 08 2008

I have had this one FOREVER (probably around 7 years) and still hasn't died. It works great... I would highly recommend it!!

Product Rating: 5 Well worth the money
Reviewer: Lauren from PA  Sun Nov 02 2008

1 1/4" ceramic coated, "floating" plates allow for quick & easy straightening or for a little flick out or under at ends. You can even use the iron to give you curls (more like feathering curls that curling iron curls). You really don't need to spend any more than this amount on a good flat iron. I have a lot of hair, with a natural wave to it....I can flatten it out & make it look sleek & sexy in minutes. Temperature control allows you to decide how hot the iron should be (up to about 400 degrees) and the swivel cord allows for you to place it down in any position and turn it around in your hand without tangling up the cord. DON'T wrap the cord around the flat iron, though because you'll ruin the delicate wires inside. If you straighten your hair every day, you'll be able to get about 1 good year out of any flat iron. Very durable, but don't iron your hair in a room with ceramic tiles, b/c, should you drop it, the plates will most likely break/fall out & you'll need to get a new flat iron! I know from personal experience! Has nothing to do with brand, but the fact that plates are also ceramic.

Product Rating: 5 Awesome... unless you have thin hair
Reviewer: ewfjkwhfkjwfd   Sun Nov 02 2008

I love using my moms HAI because we both have super thick hair. If you have thin hair DON"T USE IT YOU SHOULDN"T BEUSING ANYTHING THAT 300-400 degrees! My sister fried her hair so badly with this because she has super thin blonde hair. So buy it only if you hve thick or super curly hair!

Product Rating: 4 It's good but The cord sucks!!!
Reviewer: Sara   Thu Sep 18 2008

I have had two of the exact kind.. It's awesome straightner.. But i have had both of mine for about two years and the cord on both of them has decided to not work.. So now i am on number three.. If i even buy one.. I wish they would make the cord better... and i would have given it 5 stars!!!!

Product Rating: 5 Great product!!
Reviewer: Kim G   Sun Aug 31 2008

I have had my Hai straightener now for over 5 years, so I feel lucky, based upon the other reviews that I read. It just bummed out on me last week, so I of course came back to the same product. It doesn't burn my hair or cause split ends, it just leaves me with this nice silky smooth head of hair without chemicals and expensive trips to the salon. If you do the math, $80/5 = $16 a year, waaaaaaaay less expensive than going to a salon even once!

Product Rating: 4 i've had this straightener for 5 years....
Reviewer: So~Cal girl   Mon Aug 25 2008

i've had this straightener for 5 years, and i now crrently do hair, i wouldnt say this is the "best" but it does work really well. i personally want to get the GHD mk iv straightener, but for anybody who doesnt want to alot of money on a straightener this one works really good especially for this cost, i have no regrets of ever buying it.

Product Rating: 5 From a salon's Senior Receptionist's POV - Great Buy!!
Reviewer: Kristina from OC, CA  Mon Aug 25 2008

This is a terrific steal - I am Senior Receptionist at a hair salon and would definitely recommend the HAI Convertible! I have fine, wavy, frizzy hair that was difficult to straighten, and for years I was using the irons that were not getting hot enough.

I have had the iron for over a year and have never had any second thoughts about getting a different one...I had gone through about 3 irons previously!

The iron is used by stylists in our salon and is a great recommendation for all types of hair. The adjustable heat setting lets users determine their necessary heat levels, and the width of the plates are just right. I would recommend this iron to girls with medium (hair an inch above the shoulders) to long hair - the iron plates may still be too wide for girls (like me!) with short hairs in the back of their head that are hard to straighten. For that, use the HAI Twig....

Overall, AWESOME buy and FANTASTIC deal!!!! BUY HERE FROM FOLICA!

Product Rating: 3 Broke after two weeks
Reviewer: Alison from Orange County, CA  Fri Aug 15 2008

I bought this on July 3rd and used it about 3-4 times a week for two weeks. It did work great and gave me smooth, soft, shiny, straight hair for the first time in my life.

Then it stopped working. It still heated but not high enough, the hair didn't get hot enough and didn't fully straighten.

It was after two weeks from the purchase date so the store would not take it back. I sent it back to HAI and I'm waiting for a replacement. They were perfectly nice about replacing it but require you to send an $8 check for shipping, plus you pay to ship to them and your time and effort, so you have to pay at least $15 for them to replace their defective product. Not good. If I had used it two years and it broke, I would just buy another and be glad I knew it worked, but after two weeks, that's not acceptable. And it seems from the reviews it could happen any time - after a few weeks, months, or a year.

They do have a one year warranty, anyway. Hope I never have to use it again.
