this is my second purchase of the HAI ceramic flat iron. It works INCREDIBLY well!! I had my first one for 4+ years until my roommate in college threw a pile of books on it and stepped on the pile, which broke the joint of the two plates. EVEN THOUGHT THE JOINT WAS BROKEN, the flat iron STILL WORKED GREAT!!! I just had to maneuver the plates when I straightened my hair. I'm over trying to do that so I decided to just give in and invest in my 2nd HAI flat iron. Its a purchase well made, it will last you forever and give you the straightest, most soft hair ever. I reccommend it to all my friends!!! What I love most is using it on a friend with really really super curly hair who says "no flat iron, but a professional one, will make my hair straight with no frizz." Then to see the expression on her face when she sees her straight hair....its really a miracle!!!

I'm very disappointed in this product. I currently own a sedu and wanted something that works like the chi so after reading all the good reviews about hai i decided to purchase one. The first time I used it, it was okay, it didn't give up much shine but after giving it a few days I started to like it. Within only two weeks of owning it, it shut off on me while I was using it. I thought maybe it was the socket so I tried putting it in another socket. That didn't work. I didn't wind up the cord once since I've owned it like everyone else said not to do. No wonder it's affordable, You get what you pay for unfortunately for me, it lasted less than two weeks. I'm getting a Paul Mitchell instead, something that will actually work and I can depend on.
Power cord issues

I have purchased two of these HAI Convertible Flat Irons. I love their ability to straiten my naturally thick and wavy hair. However, they both had power cord issues which caused me to be unable to use them any longer. The first lasted about two years, which is why I purchased the second. However, the second only lasted six months!!! I didn't even use it every day! I was pretty disappointed, and will probably purchase a different flat iron this time around.

I love this hair straightener, however, I have had to replace it pretty often. I have purchased 3 of the same straightener in 9 months!!! At $85 per it gets pretty expensive. Just thought you'd all like to know.vst

Excellent product, I used it every single day for 2-3 years and it finally died. I went and bought the Solia to see if any better (b/c the heat on a Solia goes up to 450 degrees) but it wasn't worth it. So I went back to the HAI, glad I did. It is the best product by far b/c it straightens AND curls your hair at the ends if you want it to. With Solia the ends came out square and ugly! Plus the 450 degree heat took away any body your hair might've had. The edges of the HAI are much smoother and rounded so that you can flip your hair, curl the ends, or just bump it. Excellent product! Would purchase again in a few years! (Remember that's only if you use it every day...but lower the heat for daily use!) Hope this helps...

For those of you that claim the HAI does not last long, I beg to differ. I am now going on my fifth year of owning the HAI, and I am just now researching for other products trying to compare. After 5 years, it still works, however I think some of the wires inside have loosened, becuase I need to sometimes play around with the cord to get it in place to start up. Then it's fine. So for people that are claiming they've only had it for a month or so, that's just because you don't take care of it. I've had it for 5 years!

This the best flat iron I have ever used. I am a stylist and it is so sleek and does amazing flips and waves as well. The quality is unsurpassed, the temp settings are a big plus, something I like over the Chi. I highly recommend it!
Straight and Shiny

The HAI Convertible flat iron makes my naturally curly hair straight and shiny. I purchased my first one in 2002 and it lasted almost 4 years of using it almost every day! This product survived numerous trips and moves and never lost it's heat strength. It's definitely worth the investment.

I have used various cheaper irons from Target and have always been satisfied but not thrilled with the results. I recently moved to New York and was definitely unhappy with the effects that the humidity has on my hair so I decided it was time to upgrade to a better iron. This the one to get. Despite light to moderate rain, humidity, sweat, etc, my hair still stays straight and sleek. This iron is totally worth the money! It arrived quickly, is easy to use, and the results are wonderful. I highly recommend it!

I received my HAI iron promptly after ordering with Folica, this is the best straightening iron I have used yet!! My stylist uses this one in her salon . I previously purchased irons from a beauty suppy store, those do not compare to this one,This iron deserves a 5 star rating in my book, if HAI makes one better, I would love to get my hands on it!! My hair is very fuzzy, blowdried or not and naturally curly, the difference in my hair when I use this iron is,no more fuzz and friz, just flat behaving hair and I don't use any gels or products on my hair, just shampoo , condition and blowdry, and use this iron on clean dry hair, you don't need anything on your hair with a good flat iron,such as this one. The hair has more shine and a silky feel.

This flat iron is fantastic! In the past, I've used other flat irons and they leave my hair straight but with a little frizzy halo that never goes away. But not with this flat iron. It is amazing! Well worth the higher price. I can finally have straight hair again without all the frizzies (even in a humid environment).

I purchased this hairstraightener right before school so that i could have the perfect hair on the first day. When it arrived i was so happy, i plugged it in and it was hot in less than minute. After using it, wich took me half the time then using my other iron, it left my hair really straight like i like it, and extremely shiny. If you have normal to thick hair like me, it will take a bit longer to straighten and you wil have to put in on the highest number.

This straightener works great. It takes a short time for it to warm up, and delivers enough heat to make your hair sleek and shiny. The only drawback (as is with any flat iron), is that it can be drying on the ends of your hair. Overall, I would definitely recommend it at the Folica.com price! (We sell it in my salon for $129.00!)

I am a Black woman with unprocessed hair. I got tired of relaxing my hair and having it thin and lifeless and falling out all over the place. I just received my new HAI flat iron and it is wonderful. I received it within 2-3 days of ordering.(No shipping charges and a free heat pad/Pouch thrown in to boot!) It got my hair so straight and silky looking. I had previously been using a conair flatiron I picked up at Walmart. But this thing puts it to shame. It was so easy, I was finished my just below shoulder length hair in about a half hour. It has been raining here all week and my hair is still straight. My daughter is already trying to figure out how she can get it away from me. I wish I hadn't waited so long before ordering this. My daughter's hair is coarser than mine and her's came out silky straight also. Don't forget that you need to use some kind of silicon or heat protection product on your hair before flat ironing to protect the hair from the high heat.

This product really lived up to all of the reviews that I had read. It straightens really well and does not damage your hair in the process. Also, my hair really held up in the rainy weather much better than with any other straightener I have used before.

The strightener works well. However, two weeks in the red light would turn off when I swiched the temperture setting. So I returned it thinking maybe that one I had was a "bad one." The second one I got is starting to do the same thing. So in the end the strightner is okay...
