Product Rating: 3 Disappointed
Reviewer: Sharon from Newport Beach, CA  Wed Dec 20 2006

I had heard by a couple of different sources that the Hai Convertable was supposed to be the best. However, I have thick long hair and in order to get my hair even somewhat straight I have to go over it several times with this flat iron. It also does not curl very well. I am going to try the Solia and hope that I have better luck.

This flat iron only takes practically a few seconds for it to heat up. And for a person with not a lot of time or patience to wait for a flat iron to heat up (I have an 8 month old son), it's a dream come true. Great for touch ups when you're in a rush. And works very well.

Product Rating: 5 good stuff

i just got my HAI straightener today, and i must say... it is very good! i have long, thick, wavy hair, and it straightened it out pretty quickly. my first straightener was from walmart, and after it fried my hair, i thought it was time to get a good one. i had originally thought of getting a CHI (my friend had one) or a SOLANO (my mom has this), but i figured i didn't need one that was too expensive. when i saw this, the ratings and reviews were good and the price excellent so i decided to get it. i am very happy i got it!

Product Rating: 5 HAI verses CHI
Reviewer: Maria from Chula Vista, CA.  Mon Dec 11 2006

I have had a 2 inch HAI for more than a year now and love it. Never had a problem with it. I recently ordered a 1 inch CHI and right away had to return it. I could see that there was no difference in quality. So many people say that the Chi is the best but honestly, the HAI is just as good or better and CHEAPER. I did not like that the CHI did not have a temperature control knob, the HAI does.
My recommendation to anyone, is to buy the HAI over the CHI.

Product Rating: 4 Good inexpensive straightener.
Reviewer: Jen.   Tue Dec 05 2006

Although most of the reviews i have read said that the hai would only last about a year, mine lasted almost four. But when it started breaking, the red light would flicker on and off, and eventually the plates fell out. But until its final days it was very good straightener, it took me ten minutes to do my hair with no blow drying. It does not cost must so i recommend this straightener to people who are looking for a good, inexpensive straightener.

Product Rating: 5 It Really IS As Good As I Read!
Reviewer: Linda from Ohio  Fri Dec 01 2006

Ever since having children, my poker-straight hair has all kinds of flips and waves in weird directions. I just wanted to be able to make it all go straight or all under or out. My store-purchased Conair straight iron never did the trick and I knew it was burning my hair. After my last good cut to remove any bad ends, I purchase my Convertible stright iron and WOW! It really IS worth the money. It only takes going once through the hair and it stays all day and beyond until I wash it again. I have to say I am quite impressed. I just didn't think it could make as much of a difference as it ended up proving. Most impressive is being able to have my hair go under on a day and not have one side decide to start flipping out a couple hours later...just doesn't happen if I use this iron! I glad I made the decision to buy a good straight iron.

Product Rating: 5 perfect and I even saved $25.00
Reviewer: S. B. from Irvine, CA  Tue Nov 28 2006

The HAI Hair products in my local beauty supply store sells for approx $25.00 more than on the Folica web-site. Folica'f follow through w/confirmation and delivery was perfect. I would definately tell a friend and also use Folica again

Product Rating: 5 Naturally curly hair
Reviewer: Lara Rivers from Tennessee  Wed Nov 22 2006

I have thoroughly enjoyed use of this flat iron. I am a professional stylist with natural curly hair, so I have been exposed to several different professional products to style my hair straight. I didnt want to use any chemical services for the straight look, so I borrowed the same flat iron from a fellow stylist and I was hooked, bought one for myself within days and have worn my hair straight ever since. No damage to color treated hair, especially highlighted hair, because it uses moisture to lock hair cuticle. I would highly recommend to anyone with natural kinky, curly hair.

Product Rating: 3 thorough opinion, please read if on the fence: CHI, SOLIA, HAI
Reviewer: Elizabeth   Wed Nov 22 2006

Well I, like many of you had a hard time decided between the CHI, Solia, and this HAI flat iron. I had used the CHI before and thought it was great and I would buy one. But seeing the reviews for that iron saying that it fell apart or broke after only a year I turned that one down. Then the Solia, which I'm sure is a good iron, was too expensive. So I went with this HAI convertable flat iron.

Overall it is a pretty satisfying iron. Though, it does take a few times going over the hair to get it straight and my hair is already pretty straight as it is. I do not recommend turning the temp. control up higher than the instructions suggest just because you think it will straighten your hair quicker and more efficiently. I found that when I did this, it made my hair really frizzy, but on the recommended setting it worked pretty fine.

So overall this item was good for the price. It straightens my hair (which is what you'd call "relaxed" type hair) in less than about 10 min. It heats up quickly and so far I have had no problems.

Hope this helps!

I have got to say, this is the best flat iron ever! I have very curly hair and this flat iron does the trick. Simply blow dry your hair first and the flat iron does the rest. Well worth the purchase.

I love my flat iron. I was sooo confused on which one to get I knew that Hai and Chi were to be said to be the best hair straightners and originally I was going to go with the Chi but then after I read the reviews I decided to go with a HAI. Also the guy who does my hair has one and so I KNEW it would be good. Alot of my girlfriends are hairdressers and have CHI's and say they love them and havent had that many problems but after the reviews I just felt better getting the HAI and figured its cheaper so if it brakes i wont lose out on as much money. Im SO glad that I chose the HaI. Its great and you can set the temperatures to where you want. Which helps people with thin and thick hair. I see on a lot of the reviews that there are cord problems...and so I just do not wrap it up. It also came with the holder and I LOVEE that as well. I can just throw it in there and throw it in my drawer and not worry. Its great!!! I would suggest trying this straightner first before spending too much on one that may just brake on you.

It is wonderful to have this item.
I love it. It is really easy to use and to make your hair really straight.

Reviewer: Kim from Texas  Mon Nov 20 2006

I originally purchased a HAI straight iron about three years ago and loved it, however I damaged it traveling. So, I tried several other "cheaper" irons and came back to this one. You can't get a more professional look than this straight iron provides. Once I got my new HAI, everyone kept asking what I did differently. I told them about this product!

Product Rating: 5 Great flat iron...just don't drop it!
Reviewer: Kristina from Louisiana  Thu Nov 09 2006

I have very thick hair AND I live in south Louisiana (a recipe for frizz!). I purchased one more than two years ago and I love my HAI. The only problem I've had with it is that I've accidently dropped it a few times on my bathroom floor, and now one of the plates has broken off. But I'm back on Folica ordering another one because I loved it so much! If I wouldn't have dropped it, it would still be working perfectly!

Our family (girls) have used this particular flat iron for the past couple of years and find it superior to any other flat iron on the market.

my friend owned the same brand and the same iron and it just seemed to work better than mine...Oh Well!

There are two things that I do not like about my Hai Convertable Flat Iron. 1) My hair always gets snagged in the lower plate and gets pulled out, which is quite bothersome. 2) There is a lot of static electricity whenever I straighten my hair. I have to say though that I don't know if it's directly from the Hai. However, it hasn't happened with other straighteners I've had.

Product Rating: 5 Holds up well
Reviewer: Kim from San Francisco, CA  Thu Nov 02 2006

I bought this flat iron almost 4 years ago, and it still works. I've dropped it, traveled with it, and left it on for hours at a time (accidentally of course!). My roommate in college used it everyday (in addition to my everyday use) as well for about a year, and it has held up so well. I hear a lot of comments about these irons braking and not lasting very long, but for me, this straightener has been amazing. It has outlasted many blowdryers, and although it's not great for your hair, I feel that compared to cheaper irons, it does less damage.

Product Rating: 5 LOVE IT!!!
Reviewer: Amber from Riverside  Fri Oct 27 2006

This is the absolute best straightening iron I have ever used!! Unlike other irons that require you to go over and over the piece of hair you're working with, this one takes only one swipe and the hair is perfectly straight!!! Which when it comes to straightening your entire head of hair, it takes half the time and looks tons better!! I will only buy this brand and this iron and form this website!! Thank you so much!!
