First of all, to all those who wrote mediocre reviews on this product, you shouldn't have! This is the most amazing straightener for the money! My hair has never looked more amazing. Everyone who borrows my straightener askes me where they can buy one! I have coarse, curly and EXTREMELY THICK hair! It straightens it in 15 mins. It does NOT frazzle or damage my hair AT ALL and that is key when you are getting your hair colored a lot. IT HAS ALSO LASTED ME 7 LONG YEARS!

My hairstylist talked me into buying this flat iron after she tested it out on my hair. I have used so many ceramic flat irons...the Chi made my hair dry and brittle and other high-end irons didn't even straighten my hair. As an African-American, it is extremely hard to find a ceramic iron that straightens to bone straight status without making your hair brittle. I have had this iron since 2005 and it still works perfectly. It has variable temperature control which for course 4A-B hair is a must. Also, I advise you to get the CHI Silky Infusion oil, CHI Shine oil sheen, and the Chi Iron Guard. These products along with my HAI have been wonderful in helping to keep my hair healthly and straight even in humid weather.

I have straighten my hair for the pas 6 years. I've used Hot Tools for the most part, but when they kept breaking I decided to invest in a HAI.(Mine is the orange one thats a little more expensive) The very first time I used it, my hair was sOoo straight I couldn't even style it. i've had it for about 2 years now and it still works great. I'm thinking I should start searching for another one in case it decides to go out soon. And for the people who said theirs died after a few uses, this has happened to me twice, and you bet i cried too. But rather than throwing it out, I tried again a few days later, and TAdA, it worked again. Anyway, this is the best flat iron i've ever used on my thick Puerto Rican curls. I can go from a total boricua, island look to a sleek and sexy straight look with no trouble. Whether you want to have it pin straight or you want spiral curls, you'll love your results I HAIly recommend this flat iron.

This straightener has been the best i've used in my whole life...I mean almost everyone i know owns a CHI and either their hair gets full of split ends or it stops working. HAI instead gives a soft and smooth look not only does it work excellent but it also makes my hair healthier.My hair isn't curly but kind of straight and everyone is always asking me why I still straighten it..well for the simpliest reason that i have the best straightner in teh world..I've owned this HAI for almost a year 1/2 and I am getting my cousin one for her birthday since she has rough and curly hair and she has uses my HAI and if the straightener works with her hair, then believe it on not, HAI works with any kind of hair!!!I'm so glad I have it and i wont change it for anything!!!!!!!!!

This was my favorite straightener. it worked really good but one day it just stopped working. i was soooo sad and had to live with curly frizzy hair for two weeks.
Judging from the other reviews- it works good for about a year then dies out.

I'm an African American woman who keeps her hair natural, but I also like to wear it straight sometimes. We'll whenever I went to the salon to get my hair done, it looked fabulous. However, whenever I tried to do it at home, it never looked quite as good and sleek. I've tried the Marcel hot comb, Marcel straightening iron as well as the Maxiglide, but neither ever gave me the results that the HAI, have given me. Ilove it.

I LOVE this flat iron. I naturally have really frizzy, poofy, wavy hair that is seriously unmanagable! I would do nothing but put tons of gel and hairspray in my hair and put it up everyday for so many years, until this flat iron saved my life.. literally. I can't live without it! I constantly get compliments on my hair on how healthy and soft it is. I also curl my hair with this flat iron! It's amazing, I prefer curling my hair with this rather than a normal curling iron. I flat iron my hair so often you think it'd be dead, but it's not! I love this flat iron and I would recommend it to anyone.

My first one became out of order after 4 yrs of usage -- the cord was shorted. I just recently bought another one, realizing it's so much more powerful when the plates are brand new (hence clean). Now I clean mine once a week with rubbing alcohol. I've surveyed around and I think you get the best price on this page. I even use it to curl my hair (I have straight hair) it's so versatile!

I have been straightening my hair for about 13 years now. I'm Portuguese, and have incredibly coarse, curly, frizzy hair. My sister is a hairdresser... We have tried them all and this is what we both use. This is an amazing straightening iron. There is one downfall to this item and you can see that in all these reviews... it eventually stops working... who'd of thought that an electrical device, that heats up to 200 degrees celcius, that you use 3-7 days a week for 30-60 mins a day might actually eventually stop working??? Let's not fool ourselves.. these aren't magic. Of course they'll stop working eventually. Now, if it stops working in a few months... it's defective. Someone complained that after 2 yrs hers went out and the customer service reps at Hai weren't nice... Are you kidding???? A lot of items have warranties, but people are just ridiculous! I've owned about 5 of these in the last 8 yrs... not bad. You can pay up to 150 in department stores. I get mine when a local store has them on sale,... or on other websites. I usually pay between 60-90... 60-90 dollars to have my beastly hair straight for about 300 days a year isn't too bad... people need to stop being so cheap and give the item the credit it's deserved. The convertable has what I like to call, shocks... the plates feel like they're on springs... so it's not two pieces of metal ripping out your hair when you squeeze the iron through...Hai also makes a Stik and a Hai 2, but they have solid plates, or did when I used them. This one is much easier on the hair. all in all, it's amazing. don't be fooled that 15 people out of millions in the world got the defective ones and decided to complain about it.

This straightener is okay, when I first got it I was so excited, it worked great but I was noticing that after awhile it didn't work as good. It's been 5 months now and when I put it on a lower temperature it automatically turns off, and the plate covering is all chipped off. So basically I am going to have to buy another straightener due to I can't use this one anymore or it will chip even more. If you are planning on buying this product, I highly recommend you take extra good care of it or it will definitely break soon enough. I am going give the sedu a shot!

I was recommended by a friend to try this product, and I decided to give it a try. The first time I used it my hair was so straight and smooth, I love the temperature adjustment especially because it is so useful. I definitely recommend this to everyone. Best straightener I've used and it takes me 10 minutes to do a decent job of straightening all of my hair. Absolutely amazing.

I love my HAI straightening iron! It was recommended by my hair stylist and I love it... this is the second one I buy. The first one got messed up due to an electrical outage & I didn't think twice about purchasing the same one. It is very good on my hair and it doesn't damage it. It's the best one I've owned. It's very affordable and the product is worth it!

I've been through it all! It took me from 45 to an hour to straighten my course, nappy, frizzy (you name it!) hair using cheap store-bought and beauty supply store bought flat irons. What a waste of time and money! After tragically having gone through several of these things for years, I decided to spend a little more money on a better quality product. It was ALLLLLL that i expected and more! (my first product bought online!) I've had it for about 2 years now, and it goes everywhere with me when I travel. Unfortunately, it stopped heating up randomly today and I almost cried. =[ Despite that, I would *HAI*ly recommend this to you ladies (and gentlemen)! It works wonders! Everyone who's borrowed it from me says it's the better than their own! It's super affordable too! =]

When I first bought the Hai it was great and worked really well, but after like 4 months, not even using it every day, as was said in other reviews, the wire came loose, and it wouldn't heat up. I paid for it with a gift card and threw out the receipt when i moved. i had to buy a new straightener after only 4 months of using that one, but now i know to always keep receipts.
It works great!!!!

I bought Hai Flat Iron because I used to own a beauty salon and this kind of flat iron rarely gave us trouble on the contrary it always work perfectly, there were times we used to flat iron like 30 people per day all year round and it continue working and giving great results as the first time. I really recomend this product, you won't regret it!

I have been using this HAI flat iron for about 3 or 4 years now and it STILL works just as well as it did when I first bought it! This flat iron is AMAZING!!! I have VERY curly, frizzy hair, and in about 10 minutes, my hair is impossibly straight! Where I live it's pretty humid in the warmer months, and, even in the rain, my hair still stays sleek! This iron is truly amazing! I totally recommend it!

I was looking for a "good" hair straightener and I really liked the one my hairdresser uses. She uses the HAI Convertible and my hair always looks great! So now I have my own and can really see a difference from the cheaper iron I was using. I'm growing out my relaxer and going natural. My hair is very thick and wavy and this one does a great job!
