My husband took apart the part that plugs into the wall and resautered the wires together. It's given me an extra 2 years (5 total!) in the life of my HAI covertable.

WHile running the iron through my hair, he uses a fine-toothed comb to run through the ends of my hair before the iron passes through. I thought I'd be too uncoordinated for this, and I even used a regular-toothed comb, but it helps!

Also, I only applied BioSilk's Silk Strate before blowdrying my hair -- I didn't use any more product until after I was done ironing my hair, because through experience I've found the more product you pile on the less likely you can keep your hair fresh-looking, and it starts to stiffen up and lose its swingy-ness.

However, that said, upon completing the ironing process I rub a dollop of Redken Outshine Polishing Milk throughout my hair as a defrizzer and light maintenance cream. I was a bit curious and decided to run the iron through the front portion of my hair afterwards, and whoa! It turned out superglossy! It may be a reason why it didn't frizz out as it normally would have after my spinning class (mind you, my hair's been straight for five days at the time of this posting). It's light enough that you could do a quick run-through of it in your hair - if you're obsessive about keeping your hair straight. . . which I admit, I am.

This isn't really a tip, just an observation I have made about the HAI 2 Ceramic Flat Iron. I iron my hair and it looks really nice and straight, but it becomes really silky the day after. So with the HAI 2, you do not get the best results immediately, but wait until the next day. Your hair will look silky gorgeous!

Now I have long curly hair and this iron works great; but make sure that after washing hair, blow dry your hair completely dry, then let the hair cool down before using the Hai flat iron. The iron is HOT and your hair will straighten faster with less passes and be straighter even over those rough patches that can't seem to be get bone straight. :)

A lot of people say this ceramic flat iron heats up quickly, which is true. But I find that the iron works best when you give it a good ten minutes to heat up. Wait patiently - trust me, it's worth the wait. When you use it on your hair, it will be steaming. Be sure to use a protecting product to protect from heat damage.
