I have had this iron for over 3 years and have never had a problem. It has been dropped, used overseas and is still going strong. I have thick wavey hair and it does a great job smoothing it out.
Loved it but it broke after 2 months :(

I loved my HAI 2 Ceramic Flat Iron but it broke after 2 months. I have no idea how to contact the manufacturer. I need another one now! I bought it from asontv.com and they were less than helpful. Should have bought it here; seems like the customer service is accessible.

This is a great product. I have had it for a couple of months now and it is working great for me. I have very coarse hair and it is thick and this product works wonders at getting it straight. Now if I could just move somewhere where it is not so humid.
ok, broke after 1 year

I have tried numerous hair straighteners from the cheapest to the most expensive but none compare to this one. It leaves my hair completely flat and it lasts.

I have voluminous hair that is curly and frizzy. This straightener has worked wonders for me. Even in rainy weather where my hair will go frizzy regardless of how much i straigthen it, it will usually still keep its straightened shape. As well, it heats up quickly and straightens my hair in a short amount of time.

on switch was on

When I received the product the on/off switch was in the on position. When it is brand new from the factory the switch should be in the off position. I was concerned about that and never received a response when I wrote in. I also posted a review and was never notified that it went through. Otherwise so far so good. It seems to be an excellent iron. And it is easy to use. I thought it might be heavy or hard to handle but it is not at all. I really like it and hope that it is not damaged because of that switch and that it will last.

I've had the same Hai 2 straightener for 4 years...I LOVE IT...it never breaks down, it heats up in an instant, and makes my hair so straight and silky. Also, I've been straightening my hair everyday for 4 years and it keeps it soooo silky and my hair isnt dried out at all, and i live in florida where its humid!...it truly is amazing.
It's pretty good for AA hair, nothing spectacular.

It's okay, not the greatest...

This was my first time purchasing a professional ceramic flat iron so I was excited to use it since I discovered my "Hot Tools" iron from Sally's was not a professional iron. Although it did work better than the Sally's iron, I didn't get the straight results that I was hoping for. I have very very curly African-American textured hair in which I have gotten my hair as straight as a caucasian person (but only done at a salon by a pro, lol) so I know from first hand experience that my hair can get pretty straight if the right products are used. But unfortunately, not this product, at least not by itself. It's a good iron, don't get me wrong, but if you are AA and hoping to replicate that same straight hair results from the beauty salon, I suggest you use the ceramic iron and blow-dryer or hooded dryer. You have to double, triple up the straightening process to get the salon results that you desire.
1. Shampoo/Condition
2. Wrap hair/sit under hooded dryer until hair is dry(they sell them here too).
3. Use blow dryer to get any missed parts still wet
4. Hai flat iron
the best!!!!

Want the salon look daily? this is it! I live in hot, humid Florida. I used this once without any product in my hair. It lasted all week!!!! I had 5 min of touch up daily (during hurricane season!)to get my hair soft and sleek. My natural hair is curly and frizzzy esp. at this time of year. What a fantastic time saver and beautifier! I am so pleased!

So far I have only used this flatiron once. I was a bit unsure if I made the right choice, considering there is the Sedu and Solia and the Bion, but I remembered what my cousin told me with similar hair, about her cheap ceramic iron, that despite it being cheap it still works, and that it all depends on how much I want to spend. Also, I found more reviews written by women with ethnic hair for the HAI2, which makes/made a significance difference in choosing HAI2 over the other, "more popular" brands.
That said, I don't have the kind of hair that you could use this one once it's been air dryed. I still need to brush dry with a blowdryer (although I no longer do roung-brush drying, I started using a paddle brush after watching my stylist do my hair. (As far as products are concerned, I like to deep-condition before I do any serious heat styling, use Lanza Urban Elements Leave-in, and then BioSilk's Silk Strate.) And then the fun begins. . .
Bceause of some of the reviews about the heat burning/singeing their hair, I decided to start safe -- since my hair is very thick and coarse, 340 degress was what I started out with. I like to see a little steam, and I didn't notice any burning. I went as high as 370, and I don't think 400 will be necessary. (But once I get the hang of it and want to become more efficient, who knows?)
I parted my hair into quads, and in each quad straightened out bits no wider than two inches and no thicker than a half-inch. By the way, if you take a look at a rule two inches is not that big, but the plates on the HAI 2 are BIG! And I like it that way. Yes, you will need some dexterity if you cannot handle big plates. But I also have hair that goes well beyond my shoulders, to the middle of my back, and 1 or 1 1/2 inches is not going to do anything for me.
Although I've read some girls can straighten their hair "in one pass," I find that I need a couple times to run it through -- maybe it's because I didn't make it hot enough, or maybe it's because I'm a bit obsessive about straightening it out. I may have to revisit this portion of my review at a later date.
My hair did not end up flat-looking as it did when my hairdresser flat-ironed hair, but I remember another reviewer who stated her hair improved the next day -- and mine did too, strangely enough. As a matter of fact, it's day 5, I even took a spinning class last night (all I had to do was blowdry w/a comb attachment at my roots), and my hair is still straight, smooth and not gummed up with products (which I think helps: use a great product in the beginning, but no need to keep piling it on during the week!) It's soft, swingy and I love it.
Previously I was using a BabyBliss Pro, with the metal plates, until my hairdresser told me the steel would wreck my ends. . . but we'll see. I have to admit the steel plates made my ends look super frizzed out and I could never get them smooth. . . unlike my ceramic iron!!!
Oh and one more thing: I was planning on buying a UNIL flatiron (which is what my hairdresser used) but after reading what a hard time people were having contacting the manager, I decided against it. That fact, the $105 price tag, and the 2" plates easily swayed me in favor of the HAI.

I purchased this flat iron with high expectations. I have really thick curly, course hair. Overall, HAI 2 is a good purchase, but I had to go over my hair several times in order for it to take to my hair. Next time I'm going to do more prepping--more time blow drying beforehand.

HAI 2 Great for Mid to Long Hair
Reviewer:

I love my HAI 2. I used it on my mid to short length hair and on my daughter's very curly super long hair (like Nicole Kidman's used to be). It worked great on my hair, but I should have purchased the regular HAI for my hair length (3-6") as the 2-1/4" plate is very, very wide. I tried it on my daugher's nearly waist length hair. It took me quite a while to flatten her thick curly hair, but then I found out she had used CURLY mousse and then a fixative hairspray, which is why it took so long. But even with that working against us it flattened very nicely. The second time we did it with product made for straight hair and NO hairspray. Done right it came out silky smooth in no time at all. I recommend clamping the plate over the hair and sliding the iron down the hair to the ends several times instead of going slowly to flatten the hair. This is what my hair dresser does and while you have to pass over the hair more often, it actually works faster and doesn't fry your hair. Also, use a comb to lead the iron and you'll flatten those super curls super straight. For those with long hair this one is great, for hair shorter than 6" go with the regular HAI. You can get closer to the roots with the regular HAI. The HAI 2 is heavy so if you are older or have weak arms, go with the regular HAI. That one will also do long hair. And while some reviewers comment on the cord tangling. I didn't find that to be a problem. I loved the extra long length and professional grade. Finally, this iron puts out a lot of heat, so watch your ears!

I have had my HAI2 for almost 3/4 years...and it works great. My hair is long, thick and really curly. Once you straighten it, it will remain straight until you wash it (or it gets wet). If you have not ever straightened your hair before, you will be amazed at the difference it makes. I have used it on my family members and friends and they have also been impressed. One more thing...I have been looking for another one and Folica has the cheapest prices.

i bought so many hair straightners so that i could straighten my hair pin straight and for it to be silky smooth . but none of the other straighteners would work on my hair until i found the HAI.it works so good for my type of hair [which is curly and frizzy if i dont put alot of hair products in it] but now that i bought the HAI my hair is silky and smooth and doesnt take 3 hours to straighten like the others. this only takes me 25 min. I LOVE IT!!its worth every cent.

I bought the straigtner early this year, my teenage daughters love it. I had to blow dry my hair and use the cheap straightner which used to freeze my hair later. My family and friends noticed the difference, how soft and beautiful our hair looked after using this product. Five of my family members went and bought it and now their friends are buying it too. We are all in love with this product. So you all, dont think, just go buy it if you want beautiful silky hair.
