I have used this product several times and have had outstanding results. For those who do not like it, switch to the foam product, it's easier than the liquid and does not smell nearly as bad. Also, the first week, dont wash your hair with harsh shampoo so much, give it a chance to begin working. I like it. Tried product for three months. Absolutely no reduction in gray hair observed. If used as a hair dressing and conditioner as suggested by the manufacturer, be prepared to live with the bad smell. Worse, never apply this product before exercising. You will get the formula in your eyes and mouth. I followed the directions carefully and used a whole bottle over a couple of months. Absolutely no change in color occurred (my hair is silver and still is). This was a very strange thing for me because the thought that it would not work never entered my mind as I had seen the commercials for many years. I even started out using a little less of the product the first few days because I was concerned that the change would be too noticeable to fast. Didn't need to worry about that after all. By now, you will surely have read the numerous comments on this website (and the internet at large) indicating that Grecian Formula gives you a head that smells like rotten-eggs. I disagree, so permit me to give my own description... Upon first application, it smells intensely chemical, which remarkably lingers for several hours(!). Somehow, I found this experience tolerable. However, this nearly benign scent eventually metastasized, gradually acquiring a sulfur-ish quality that to me, is more reminiscent of burnt match-heads than rotten-eggs. This delightful scent (mingled with the chemical stench) lingers for hours and hours (as in overnight!). The pungent aroma, along with my awareness of the dangers of lead-acetate, gave me the persistent feeling that my head was toxic. Whenever I touched my hair, the scent would transfer to my hands, compelling me to promptly wash them rather than risk digesting the chemical, or worse, touching my eyes. That night, I lay on my bed, with a plastic bag on my head and a cloud of fumes circling my pillow, contemplating the possibility of continuing this charade, while ironically being unable to have physical contact with another human being. I drifted off to sleep with a profound laugh welling up inside, mocking the lengths to which I will go to appear young. Upon waking, I immediately took a shower with a thorough shampooing and conditioner. The feeling after wards? Utterly liberating. Grecian Formula 16 Cream: 8.95$ Plastic bag: 3ยข. The powerful spiritual experience of placing your vanity in stark relief against your own mortality: Priceless. I followed the directions exactly for a month and am on my second bottle. I found my hair only got to a light brassy, somewhat unnatural color. Yuk. Almost a yellow tinge. My wife says it looks like a dye job that's partially washed out. Not good. I'm on my second bottle and wondering IF it will become darker, and therefore useful, which is why I looked up reviews to see what others had found? My Dad used original Grecian for 30 years and it seemed great. I think the new formula must have cut the lead acetate down to be legal (since it was briefly not allowed in California). My guess is that this has ruined the product for most. It doesn't seem to work for my hair.... Read all 48 customer reviews ...
