Wax on, wax off, hair gone.

I used this kit with the Gigi numbing spray. I'm not sure if it was the numbing spray or the type of wax itself, but i honestly found this product to be less painful than getting my eyebrows waxed! I think the secret might be the pre-epilation oil. It keeps the wax from sticking to the skin, but the wax is so hard it really adheres to the coaresest of hair.
In the past i've tried Nads (messy, painful, EXPENSIVE, doesn't remove coarse hair, or really much of any hair), and another stripless wax (dear god, extraordinarily painful... but i didn't use it with a pre-epilation oil) with little success which lead me to believe that i was incapable of waxing. But then, I tried this product.
I should mention, I tried this product at 1 am, while i wasn't even in my right mind. But even so, I found it incredibly easy. Indeed, I had to microwave the wax more like 2 minutes than one. The secret to using this wax is to apply it in well planned little strips (with the little spatulas) and waiting for the wax to cool completely. I found I could even apply several small strips before going back and pulling them off. It took me a while to get the hang of this, so for my first time i just waxed the normal bikini line, because i was too tired and getting sloppy, missing a few hairs. No matter what product you use, i think waxing requires attention to detail, something one doesn't have trying a product for the first time at 1 am! But really, i'm simply astonished at how much it didn't hurt! I'm soooo sensitive. I think the lack of pain was mostly the wax, and not the numbing spray because I went to pluck a couple stray hairs with tweezers and that HURT! I'm equally astonished at how well the product removed hair. Even on my insanely coarse hair, it removed everything in it's path.
I love the cloth free system. No more fussing over the exact tempearature and consistency of the wax, no more using 1000 linen strips for one little bikini job, and no more waiting for the exact right moment to pull off the strip.
My only complaint with this product is that i wish that it came with a better post-wax lotion or gel. The provided lotion did remove the excess wax, but it doesn't provide much to calm the skin. I applied a little calamine lotion and aloe vera gel as it was in my cabinet, and it did the job quite nicely. The slow-grow lotion is sort of a waste. But hey, the pre-hon cleanser, the pre-epilation oil, and the wax itself make the product well worth the money, so i can't complain too much.
The only other bummer is that because this is a microwavable wax, you have to reheat it every few minutes. But, it's a cheaper investment this way. I loved this wax so much i think i might go ahead and get warmer and the metal canister version of this product.
I would recommend this product to anyone, especially the waxing incompetent, with a low pain tolerance. I love it, well worth the $15. I will definitely be using this again.

I just have to say that if you're looking for a wax kit that actually works this is it. For the price you pay you just can't go wrong. Once you figure out how to put the stuff on so it's not all over the place it's as easy as cake. It's the initial pain that you've got to conquer. I was a skeptic but this wax kit is awesome.

Better than most products I have tried. It is a little hard to get off sometimes, but it does remove the hair. I will definately use again!
Not as painful

I was doubtful but the other posters are correct, it is less painful than other waxes I have tried.
Sometimes it was a little hard to get a good grip on a piece since there were no strips. I recommend putting it on thick, it makes it easier to grap. I would recommend this product.
Buy the numbing spray!!!! :)

I have been getting brazilian bikini waxes for the past 4 years and have spent anywhere from 20 dollars(Miami) to 85 dollars (Chicago and Michigan) to get them done. Seeing as I am a graduate student now, spending that kind of money for something necessary is pretty steep, so I looked for other options. I tried NADS(worthless waste of money) and Sally Hansen Sugar Wax (painful as all get out and does not work that well). I bought this Gigi Brazilian wax a few months ago but was too chicken to try it. HOWEVER, after reading a zillion of these reviews, I took some advice and went ahead and did it. This wax works but you must follow the directions and be very familiar with the products provided in the box. After getting waxed for 4 years and always taking a Motrin or tylenol beforehand (which I do not think works well at all), I was shocked to know that there is a NUMBING spray you can use. At Sally Beauty Supply, I bought myself this spray called "Anesthetic Numbing Spray" by Honee for about 9 dollars. Wow. I could barely feel any pain at all. Please take my advice and buy this little 9 dollar can because it made the waxing process so much easier. I also bought at Sally Beauty Supply the Gigi "After Wax Cooling Gel" to apply after the wax. Not only does it help remove wax residue, but it feels good too. You need to make sure that you are patient and that you don't mind needing to re-heat the wax every few minutes or so. When you mix the wax to get the "caramel" consistency, gently raise the stick out of the wax tub and turn it around over and over to "reel in" the wax. That will avoid any wax strands (imagine eating spaghetti and twisting your fork in a circular motion to wrap the noodles around it to make it easier to eat) from floating around. Make sure the wax stays on your skin for about 30 seconds or so (tap at it to make sure it's not too gooey, but still sticky so you can pull it off). Always hold skin taut when waxing as well. I'm so glad there is an at-home remedy for hair removal that will keep the hair gone for weeks. AND...don't forget to do the waxing in patches. Start with the outside and work your way in. It'll be much easier to make sure you remove most of the hair.

Do not use this product without someone else at home to hold the tissue for the tears you will encounter. lol... There is something special to say about the people that can take such pain...I can guarantee that I will NOW only use for eyebrows from now on!!!! Be careful on stirring the wax for the first initial time. Good luck and have fun!!

I don;t know why some people are having problems using this. I am a first time waxer and had no problem the very first time and I waxed it ALL off. This is a great kit and not messy if you take your time.

This product really was the best waxing kit i've ever bought. I tried all the kits with the cloth strips and they were either too painful or didn't work as well. Its something about the consistency of this product that really makes it adhere to the hair and pull it out. I actually found that it wasn't as painful as regular wax with cloth strips. Obviously the closer in you go with the wax the more sensitive the root of the hair is, so its gonna be painful there no matter what, but this product atleast got all that hair out. Other wax would just stick to that hair but not pull it out, so I'd be left with a painful clump of sticky hair. So I would definitely recommend this to anyone who does regular brazilian waxes and doesn't have the time or the money to always get one professionally done.
My advice is that you follow all the directions and necessary preparatory steps, and have hair that is atleast 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch long. Mine was fairly long when I did this, but not too thick, so it pulled all the hair right out. I gave it to my sister to try out before she bought it and she liked it too and will be buying her own soon. Great product! 4 stars!
It works and worth the price. :)

Hair no more!

I have a tendency to get pretty bad ingrowns with bad scarring in the bikini area after the ingrowns and rash heals. So, after reading the reviews I purchased this product and was very satisfied with the results. The wax literally gets out EVERY single hair, with barely a tug, but it does hurt. I think the product is worth the pain though, because it goes away quick after you pull. I suggest buying the "Tend Skin" to appy afterwards to prevent rash/ingrowns (that product works too).
Positives:
1. Gets out ALL hair in the (bikini area only)
2. Worth the pain, hair grows back slower.
3. Great product for gals with course thick hair down south.
Negatives:
1. HURTS!
2. Messy/Sticky
3. Only works in the areas that the label advertises (Bikini area). Does not work for facial hair, and arm pits.
Taffy on taffy off

This is the worste I have tried from Gigi. I am a waxer and have been for years and this got one star because once it touches your hair, the hair WILL come out of the follicle, but the time it takes to try to get the hair with the wax off of your body is a whole other matter. I gave this a good college try. I waxed my husband's back once, my bikini twice, and all three times had the same results. I tried thin, medium, and thick consistencies and still, it was not easy to rip up. It was a taffy consistency and never really "hardened". I would get little pieces up at a time. Back to cloth strips and my gigi wax machine...this bikini wax belongs beneath the beach.
Not like a salon visit, but still pretty good.

My experience with this kit was over-all pretty good... had a great time laughing hystericlly while my girlfriend helped me with area's too hard for me to see or reach (like my butt-crack)... and i found that it worked as it said, with the exception that...after ripping the wax up, i would look and see how much hair it got up, and it never seemed to get ALL of the hairs. I found myself having to go over spots again (despite the direction not to)... and still... not all of the hairs. I found the whole process took a lot longer than i thought it would (took almost two hours, where a salon did it in like 15 minutes), but i might get faster over practiced use. The good thing about it, was that i am a red head/fair skinned girl who has very sensitive skin, and every time i've gotten waxed professionally, i've broken out in little pimple bumps from each folicle... very painful and ugly (kinda like a plucked chicken)... anyway, this waxing kit experience did NOT do that to me... in fact, i had no reaction at all! After, i waited a day and then followed up with an electric epilator called an Emjoi, (which is good for between waxing).. .and that got almost all the remaining hairs the waxing left...seems to be a good combination. Oh!.. i almost forgot... also used a new product called "No Scream Cream" half hour before waxing, and it worked!... very little pain in comparison to usual.... it's a lotion with pain killer in it, designed for brazilian/bakini waxing.... look for it on line. For those of you not grossed out by the idea of your own hairs floating around in the wax, i discovered that you can just re-heat the wax you've already used (since their are no muslin strips) and keep re-using the product.. great money saver!
Best stuff I've ever used!

I was a little uncertain at first. I have tried shaving and so many shaving products and I have really sensitive skin and I just end up with really irritated skin and ingrown hairs. I have also gone to salons and tried getting a bikini wax and it just ended up being painful and once again my skin was irritated. So I thought I could give this product a try. Of course waxing is going to hurt, but just take a few IBprofin before and ice afterwards and follow the directions (it does take longer to microwave than the directions tell you) and you should be smooth in no time! I find it easier to do larger strips rather than small patches of wax. The first time I used it I was smooth for a week and a half and with continued use, you are smooth longer. Just be sure to exfoliate occasionally to keep the area smooth. This is the BEST experience I have had with waxing!!!
Definately worth it!!!

If you use it on between 1/4 - 1/3 inch hair this works great. I had absolutely no problems with the wax after I figured out the pattern my hair grew. As for using on my legs, why would I bother, it doesn't say for legs, it says for bikini. Must use the wax, as this comes off so smoothly with it, and use it at the taffy stage. I figure, if it cools, it can be heated back up. I am doing this in the privacy of my home, and at my time. There is no wax heater. The microwave will heat it real quick. Spend $50 each time, or this kit, I will take this kit and reheat the product.
This is as good as having a professional at home.

I have had my bikini waxed professionally for about a year. Then I decided that I should try doing this at home. I was reluctant to try this at first, but since it was such a reasonable price I gave it a whirl. The results are amazing. I did not expect an at home product to work so well and so easily. I just follow the directions and the hair is gone with minimal mess and pain. I will continue to happily buy this product.

It was not difficult to use it was a little messy, but that was when the wax was no longer warm. I thought it would hurt really bad but after the second time i got use to it and i felt very comfortable using it. I wax about a week ago and it's still smooth. Before I had to shave at least every other day. It has save me time and no more razor bumps.

As a guy who's been shaving for years, but finally got tired of razor bumps, I thought I'd give waxing a try. Granted I was a total waxing rookie so I had a lot of trouble figuring out the temperature and thickness. I agree with the comment about the taffy like consistency, and I'm still not sure how exactly not to make a mess with this stuff (someone recommended twirling it first on the stick- but that seems like an excercise in futility). I didn't plan to go playboy, but this stuff is pretty hard to control and the second even the slightest bit touches your hair; it's not coming off. Definitely don't forget to use the oil, huge painful mistake. It only got about 90% of my hairs so either I needed to let it grow out more or get my technique down. I also only got about 2 1/2 uses out of this small container... really wish they sold more wax as I can already foresee a collection of these little lotion bottles amassing each time I buy the kit. The effect overall was perfect though, no more bumps. I got to say the male anatomy is probably a little trickier to wax, but there's no way I'm going out in public to have this done, so I'm buying another batch and going to get good at this or die trying. Best of Luck.

I was reading some of the reviews on this product and I have to say it sounds like some people just don't know how to use it properly.
My advice is to find a salon/spa that uses hard wax for "special area" and pay close attention to how it's done. There is a technique to using hard wax and once you've gotten some pointers and a demo or two then you should be fine at doing it on your own.
it works well if u know how ot use it

you HAVE to use that oil before hand. I see alot of reviews that complain about the wax hardening and having to pull if off in little piece: that is beacuse you didn't follow the instructions!! I forgot to use the oil once and boy was it a mess. Also, don't hesitate, just pull it off!
Absolutely worth the time and money!

I've been going to salons to get Brazilian waxes for the past 2 years, but it was getting a bit expensive. I found this product after researching online and it seemed very similar to the wax my salon had been using. I tried it out and I think it works great! It does take a little longer to do it myself than if I went to the salon, but I think it's completely worth it, especially since I used to pay $50 per wax and this kit probably contains enought to do 3 waxes. There were some bad reviews of this product, but I believe those individuals were either using it incorrectly or did not let the hair grow enough before waxing. It really does help that my salon was using a similar wax and I've seen it done professionally. It helps to have a fan nearby to help it dry quicker. And if you have a hard time with removing it, I suggest not picking at it, but use your index or thumb to quickly "flick up" the end, then use that end to get a firm grip to pull from. I find that less painful and easier. The great thing about this kit is that you can do it whenever you want! No need to make appointments or schedule around your salon. The extras in the kit are also really great...I find that the pre-epilation oil works wonderfully in keeping the wax from sticking to skin (which is the most painful things about normal waxing). I am definitely going to buy this product again and will recommend it to friends.
