This Flat Iron Is A NIGHTMARE!!!

Before I start my review, I shall introduce my hair type to you. It goes 4 inches past my shoulders, a bit frizzy, and kind of wavy.
I ordered this from Folica without reading any of the reviews a couple weeks ago. Hey, I didn't know anything about hair. I thought that this iron would work just as good as an expensive one. Boy, was I wrong.
After a couple days of waiting, it came in the mail. Excitedly, I washed my hair, conditioned it, blow dried it, and plugged in my Gold'N Hot Iron. I waited for it to get hot, but even after 5 minutes, it didn't.
I started to think that maybe it was handled roughly at the Post Office and maybe broke. Biting my lip, I made sure that it was plugged in correctly. Then I noticed it started to get a little warm. But it wasn't warm enough.
I tied my hair into a ponytail and went downstairs to watch TV, leaving my flat iron plugged in. After watching a 30-minute show, the Gold'N Hot wasn't hot enough yet.
I decided to open a book and read a bit, checking my Gold'N Hot after finishing each chapter. Finally when I got to chapter 9 (I was reading The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants) it was ready.
I took a small section of hair and ran the flat iron through it. And ran it through again and again and again. I was frustrated because it was taking me 10 minutes to do just one section of my hair.
While I straightened my hair, I noticed the iron pulling and snagging my hair. I also got 3 blisters on my fingers and had to take a break halfway through because I had blisters, my scalp hurt, my arm was getting tired, my hair smelled awful, AND the heat started to go away!
Frustrated, I gave up. I thought that maybe I had been sent a defective iron. I washed my hair again and went on Folica.com to see how I could return it and get another one. I chatted with the live operator and sent in for another one.
When my second Gold'N Hot iron came in the mail, I was happy. I washed my hair, conditioned it, and blow dried it again. Plugging it in, I noticed how it still did not heat up.
I was furious! After talking with the Folica Live Operator again, I figured that I had wasted my money on a CRAPPY IRON. Grr!
I then decided to save my money for a Sedu flat iron, so that I will never have to go through this nightmare again! Right now I have 80 dollars so I'm partway there. Anyway, if you need a flat iron, don't settle for a cheap one. Save for a sedu or one that is highly ranked.
DONT waste your money on this piece of junk. Seriously.
Sincerely,
Debrasche Pelman Ancker

My hair is long, dry, brittle and a bit frizzy. I bought this iron from Dollar General just to try it and it RUINED MY HAIR!!!!! It singed a chunk off and pulled and snagged so much of my hair. I was literally crying. Instead of straight hair, the only thing I got out of this flat iron was frustration, blisters, and tears! I am so angry!
YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! Superly duperly YUCK!

Don't do this to yourself. It STUNK UP my hair. Snags & Pulls hard. The worst iron EVER! If you are thinking about buying this, you should buy a Hot Tools iron instead! It's almost the same price and works a lot better! This one is absolutely horrific.
Waste of Money!!

OK even though this thing has a very cheap price, it also has very cheap quality. It took 1 hour to heat up and gave me 5 blister on my right hand. Also the straightness went away like 4 hours later. YUCK.
Worst Flat Iron on the Face of The Earth

This thing is very crappy. It takes one hour to heat up, and I had to run it over my hair TWENTY-FOUR TIMES to get it straight. Then after 20 minutes of straightening, the heat went away. AND the straightness went away 5 hours later.
Crappiest Iron I Ever Used. Seriously.

My hair is thin, frizzy, and wavy. I decided to buy this iron from Wal Mart last week. When I got home, I plugged it in and waited. And waited... and waited... and waited... and waited. Finally after about an hour of waiting I tried to use it, but the heat was gone after using it on 2 sections of my hair.
When I was done, my hair was damaged and fried. I would not recommend this iron to anybody, unless they are willing to waste their money and damage their hair.
0 stars is my rating.
Worthless

Yuck. Never buy this. My hair is thin and a bit wavy and a little frizzy. I bought this straightener from CVS and used it.
1. I took about 45 minutes to heat up.
2. When I started to use it, I noticed a burning smell.
3. When I was done, my hair looked like fried straw.
4. Only has two temperature settings.
5. The heat goes away after about 10 minutes of using it.
6. I had to use it on a section SEVEN times before it became straight.
7. It pulled on & snagged my hair.
8. It doesn't stay straight for that long.
Sucks..

I bought this iron from CVS or Sally's can't remember, worst $20 spent ever. Doesn't straighten my hair and only has two heat settings, high and low. && It takes forever to heat it up, && once you start to use it on your hair, the heat goes away. How dumb.
dont ever buy this

i had bought a gold n hot flat iron because i thought that it would work. it took at least half an hour to heat up and you would have to straighten the peice at least 4 times to get it sort of straight. and the heat settings sucked!!! and every time i turned up the heat it didnt feel like i was really getting everything that i had payed for. NEVER BUY A GOLD-N-HOT STRAIGHTENER. they're just a big waste of money

This is the worst straightening iron that I have EVER used!! My hair broke off and smelled burned all of the time. After having my hair professionally straightened by Vincent J in Ft. Lauderdale, he recommended the Chi. I purchased the Chi iron and my hair has NEVER looked better. It moves freely, it is shiny, it stays straight in the humidity, and better yet: It doesn't have that burned smell. Any hair appliance results in damage, however, the damage is so minimal that if you have regular haircuts (or trims) it is near non-existent.

Initially when I used Gold Hot flat iron, I was happy,
but soon the the gold on the plates was flaking off and into my hair!
Within about a month most of the Gold was gone and the plates have begun to snag my hair.
Cheap.

I have had this iron for 3 years and it is ok but not very good at all for straightening hair.My hair turns wavy quickly after a few hours and this iron just is not good at all in hot weather.I don't even use this iron anymore,I bought the Cedu iron and it is seriously the best iron ever and I'm so glad that I don't have to use the Gold n' hot iron anymore.I don't recommend this iron for thick and hard to manage hair.
this product has a defect

This product I feel has a defect of some sort, they work okay once they are heated, but they have a tendency to crack and break at the base of the flat iron. It takes nothing but for you to hold it the wrong way for this to happen. It's a cheap product and don't buy one !!!!
good but not the best

i have a bad habit at loosing my straighteners.
this one was cheap and works good if u have about 20 min. i have medium, slightly wavy, brown hair. all but the tips of my hair normally get completely strait. the tips flair out and look cute but if you hold the iron on a lil longer on the tips, it straightens out perectly!
Horrible product

Put it this way, it took me about 1 hour to make this iron heat up. Its not worth even $20. It did nothing for my hair, im very upset.

Purchased one at Sally Beauty Supply over a year ago and it still works. But it seems, with each use, it loses its power. I must first blow my hair straight THEN striaghten it and it is still frizzy. It seems to be durable but not good for wavy or curly hair. I would reccomend looking for one of better quality. I am planing on buying a new one very soon.
great
