Lemme tell you, I bought this lousy piece of nothing for only $30, and it made my frizzy, very, very, VERY curly hair look like a witch's wig that u would wear on halloween. i am 12 and i am telling u DO NOT PURCHASE THIS STRAIGHTENER. It is a waste of time and money. The ceramic plates are horrible, and it takes me at least 2 hours to straighten it. Not to mention curly hair does get frizzy, and this suckish thing just made my hair frizzier and unnatural. Once again, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS STRAIGHTENER. It is a waste of time, money, and EVERYTHING. It SUCKS.
are you serious?

my aunt had bought the straightener for me. when i got it i was soo excited. the first time i used it i loved it. but as the more times i used it, the less satisfaction i got from it. the heat settings are really bad, and you would have to straighten the section over and over again to get standard results. the gold-n-hot straightener is not the type of straightener that you would use if you have very coarse or curly hair. after a while the straightener started not to work and it gave of a horrible stench that stunk up my room. and the cord was always curlin up making it difficult to straighten your hair. save your time and your mone, DONt EVER BUy A GOlD-N-HOt StRAiGHtENER. EVER!
Don't last long Enough.

When I first used the GoldNHot I used it at my friend's house, and I was amazed with the results it was flat and amazing. But when i purchased mine, the gold plates blackened with time, and as it heats up it smokes and the smoke smells to me like copper or fish. My hair smells like burn and metal and people tell me often that it smells like i haven't showered in monthes. Don't get this flat iron it's not worth it. It's terrible.

I did not like my gold n' hot straigtner, I did not get hot enough and the plates didnt even touch all the way when you pressed them together. I recommend ceramic tools 1inch, it gets really hot, and its light weight and skinny so you can get close to your roots- i think it does a great job!

I used to use Gold N Hots way back in college. Unfortunately, I was too young and cheap to buy anything else or know any better about the quality of the product. When I cut my hair I moved to a curling iron and lost the old Gold N hot. Once my hair got longer, I decided to purchase a new Fold N Hot flat iron. I got the smaller one b/c it had the temp control. Waste of Money. It took forever to do the job PLUS my hair would constantly get snagged on the plates.

I have extremely curly and frizzy hair, but when I use this Gold n hot straightening iron, my hair is sleek and strait. I do not believe it makes my hair smell like metal, but it works wonders and its much less expensive than a Chi or Sedu straightener - which i have used before. I believe the Gold n Hot is amazing and it's DEFINATELY a better bargain!

I've had my GOLD N' HOT for about 2 years now, it does good, but it makes your hair smell like metal. I've used the CHI and I would definitly recommend this over the GOLD N' HOT. I guess the GOLD N' HOT is good for the price, but I hate it when I go out and my hair smells like metal. Also, I have Curly hair, which gets frizzy. This iron pulls at the little strands of hair(ouch!!!) It takes me about 10 times to go through one strand of my hair, and I'm not exaggerating! With the chi, u go through once, and it's straight. Like I said, I've had this iron for about 2 years, and it's already gone out a little, it takes about 30 min. for each side of my hair, and when it's humid or rainy out, forget about it! Even if it's not, my hair will go back to wavy in anout 45min. and curly in about an hour or two.I know that a lot of people don't have that much money to spend on an iron, but I would definitly invest on it. When I go out my hair stays straight, and my hair smells like the shampoo I use, not metal! I would stick with the GOLD N' HOT until you've saved up enough for the CHI!

The mini Gold N Hot flat iron works wonders on my hair. I have supper curly long hair and i can never find anything that will straighten it wihtout leaving little waves in it. I tried the chi and it also workerd very well but i couldn't pay that much for one, so then i went to sally's and i purchased this gold hot, and it its amazing, it even straightens those annoying frizzies that pop up around your hair line, the price is incredibly low, the quality is incredibly high, and your results will last until you wash your hair. I just purchased mine recently for only $29. 95, now COMPARE that to the $112.00 Chi. Now ask yourself....whats the better bargain?
Very Good purchase for the price

I have used this iron for the past 5 years. It is excellent! I never really knew how excellent it was until I purchase the CHI 2" iron --$144.00, which I bought just a couple of days ago. Let me tell you, the CHI does not even come close to the workmanship of this little inexpensive iron. The quality of the plastic is 10 times better. The GOLD N' HOT iron has truly an ergonomic handle that has ridges for your finger. The plastic is high quality, as opposed to the CHI which plastic is so cheap it looks like it is plastic from one of those old plastic dolls. While the CHI has ceramic plates, the difference between ceramic plates and the type of plates the GOLD N' HOT has is minimal. From what I can tell, here are the differences between the two: (Keep in mind the HUGE PRICE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO)
- Instead of ironing a section 2 times with the HOT N' GOLD it takes me only 1 try with the CHI.
Truly this is the only difference I can tell. I am thinking about returning the CHI because for the price, I am dissapointed, especially when I compar it to the HOT N' GOLD that did so much for me for so many years. IT LASTED ME OVER 5 YEARS!!!
Also, I have EXTREMELY frizzy and dry hair that is color treated. So it is difficult to straighten, but my HOT N' GOLD certainly did the job. THE CHI does not compare to the quality of the GOLD N' HOT. The only exception are the ceramic plates, but I can't tell much of a difference once I finish styling my hair. Sometimes expensive does not mean better and I am learning this lesson.
