You can create loose curls using this iron in a few different ways.
one way:
1. clamp a piece of hair (do not use much tension)
2. turn the iron a full 360 degrees outward
3. slide the iron down the hair at an outward angle.
another:
1. clamp the hair at the root (do not use much tension)
2. turn the iron a half turn (either direction)
3. wrap remaining hair around the iron
4. continue turning the iron down the hair in the direction you used in step 2.
it may take a little practice, but the results are great!
