Product Rating: 5 Amazing...but not sure if it's worth $200 amazing
Reviewer: Rebecca from Boca Raton, FL  Thu Jun 12 2008

I purchased the GHD pink straightener after I had had enough of my Revlon ceramic straightener. So - going from a Walmart straightener to a high quality professional straightener I definately had extremely high expectations.
I was extremely impressed with the GHD - it makes my hair pin straight without killing the ends and it does not leave my hair dry. The accessories it comes with are also extremely useful - the mat is great because the iron gets extremely hot and there isn't any space between the plates and the material it is made of...basically, where ever you put it down will get toasty - so the mat is great.

The only negative commentary I have is related to the price - I am not sure it is worth the $255. I paid almost half of that for this straightener and probably would have been disappointed if I had paid full price for it. It isn't that the product isn't amazing - it's just that paying $255 dollars for a hair straightener seems a little ridiculous. That's just my 2 cents!

Product Rating: 5 Smooth Like Butter....
Reviewer: N.E. Iowa resident from Iowa  Wed May 07 2008

I purchased and just received and used for the first time this ghd pink mk4. I am Mexican American. I have lots of thin, fragile, curly, frizzy hair -the kind that gets puffy and frizzy in the slightest bit of humidity. My hair is short, just above my shoulders. To straighten it (smooth or tame frizz) I was using the Jumbo curling iron. I've tried the Revlon ceramic hair straighter with the gold, sand papery plates and did not like the results; pulled my hair, damaged, didn't smooth evenly. I am highly impressed with this ghd because my hair did not get pulled at all. It felt as smooth as room temperature butter! It felt very gentle on my hair and it did smooth my hair in one stroke, just like the other reviewers expressed on this website. The iron is easy to handle. The protective counter mat and purse for the iron is cute and handy. The 2 pink hair clips are very nice. I did not find the instructional exceptionally helpful. The model's hair looked too "gunked" up with products and the instructions tell us to use at least four of their hair products prior to using the iron. I did not. I tried out (also for the first time) Paul Mitchell's Heat Seal after I washed my hair. Then let it air dry curly. The dvd tells us to blow dry before ironing for better results. My opinion for my hair fragile hair type is to skip the blow dry. Once my hair was completely dry I sectioned it and ironed it. This ghd mk4 very gently smoothed my hair quickly (took me 45 minutes -The iron did go into "sleep mode" at 30 minutes so I had to turn it off and on. I expect myself to get done quicker once I get the hang of it.) I am very impressed and feel the ghd successfully smoothed my hair. My hair is smooth and soft (- but not very shiny. I don't blame the lack of shine on the ghd. I will be seeking another thermal protecting product to try out. The Paul Mitchell's Heat Seal that I used, well, it does have alcohol in the product and so maybe it is too drying and left my hair a bit dull. Or maybe I need to add a product for shine... Hopefully I'll figure it out. I plan to give another review in the future to give a review on this iron's endurance and performance after being used for some time. And to say whether or not my hair repells frizz in humidity after being straightened.
From reading the other reviewers opinions I am asured that this is a high quality/manufactured iron and I am expecting it to last.

I was expecting sooo much from this straightener from reviews, and people raving about GHDs. But I gotta say I was pretty disappointed. I feel like the CHI did better on me. Maybe if you don't have the thickest or wavy hair to begin with, this would work great. But, my hair is very thick and wavy.

Not worth the price. To me anyway.

Product Rating: 5 Wow. Just wow.
Reviewer: Amy from Colorado  Fri Mar 28 2008

I started straightening my hair about 3 months ago, and used a Remington Wet to Straight from the local drug store. Then I'd go through and use a fat curling iron to curl the ends a little. It took forever (over an hour), and I always had some wavy bits that wouldn't straighten right, and my hair was getting damaged from all the heat exposure.

I just bought the GHD styler, hoping it would work as well as the price suggests. WOW. Worth every penny. I was able to perfectly straighten my hair in maybe 10-15 minutes, and the styler was able to create my curled ends without having to switch tools. Keep in mind that I have THICK, just below shoulder length hair - my stylist always comments on how much hair I have. My hair feels soft and so much better than it did when I used the other irons. I am really glad to have bought this styler - it makes hair styling a pleasure instead of a chore. One pass and you're done - and the slim design means you get right to the root. It's great. (And it comes with cute, handy accessories!)

Product Rating: 5 Perfect in form and function. Just amazing.

I might not be the most qualified person to make this review. I started flat ironing my hair less than a year ago, using cheap deaprtment store irons, and upgraded to this less than a month ago. So probably anything would have been a step up from what I had before.

But wow! I have been impressed with this from the moment I received it. Even the special edition box is nice.

The iron itself is probably the best of its kind. Its a little weighty, but it has such a solid well made feel. And when you plug it in, it heats up very fast and lets you know with a short beep when its at the right temp. Then it re-adjusts the heat as needed, checking the temperature of the plates several times a second.

The handles are a little springy. When you close the hinge, the front edge of the plates touch before the back, but with just a little more pressure it closes flush all the way across. Everything fits together well and I have never gotten hair snagged and broken like my cheaper irons.

They say irons like this one are less damaging to hair than others because the heat is infrared. That part sounds gimmicky to me, but I do know this iron seems much easier on my hair than what I used to use. And the results are amazing. it really must operate at just the ideal temperature, because one slow pass across each section leaves perfectly straight hair. It lays so flat and even, and looks so silky smooth after I use this each morning.

The CD does a fairly good job explaining how to use it to straighten or curl. I use it sometimes for a stick straight look. And sometimes I curl the ends under with it. It handles either style just as well and makes it very easy to do.

I also love the included case. It has room for the iron on one side, and a separator inside that leaves room to coil the cord up separate from the iron so you don't scratch up the cute pink finish. The heat resistant mat snaps to the case, and can be wrapped around it. There are magnetic fasteners to keep it tightly rolled. The whole thing is very portable. I took my first business trip with it this week and was really pleased with having a heat resistant mat and a flat iron tucked away in such a compact little package.

One last note! I love the pink color. Its an incredibly cute little iron. This is one of my prized possessions now. I absolutely cherish it and I'm having more fun styling my hair than I ever have in my life.

Product Rating: 5 OMG! This is the best iron I've ever used!

I've had a Chi, Conair, Helen of Troy, and 2 ghd imposters (fiascos from ebay! UGH!). I finally broke down and bought one direct from their website. This iron is amazing! The Chi does a decent job, but fries my hair. Not to mention the issues I've had with them breaking. I'm on my 3rd Chi in less than 8 months. Not a very good track record. No matter how much heat protector product I used,it ends up pretty crispy.
The GHD is AMAZING! My hair turns out so smooth, silky, and shiny! It doesn't get that flat/fried feeling. Just bouncy, swingy movement, and silky smooth! I have baby fine, color treated hair, and this iron does exactly what it promises. I haven't mastered the spiral curls, but it works great for everything else. I love the way my hair feels! The little bag, and heat mat are cute, too. Two alligator clips are included as well. Just be careful, and don't try to get a deal from ebay. I was burned 2x's! They look so real! For the amount I paid, I could've gotten the real thing the 1st time.

Product Rating: 5 Wonderful Flat Iron
Reviewer: Pum

I have pink GHD MK4 flat iron. It works greatly to my hair. Unbelievable!!! I love it so much. Each of my hair needs to be flattened by GHD only one time. When I use GHD flat iron, my hair looks very shinny and beautiful. GHD flat iron can make my hair straight very easily and I save my time a lot unlike Conair flat iron. Even though it is very expensive, you will know that it is worth to buy. Then, I don’t need to go to Salon for styling my hair anymore. If you are thinking to buy the best flat iron, you should go for GHD MK4. It is so good.

I have very curly hair that is easy to straigten but not to keep straight or make flat. I first used the Hot Tools flat iron when I was younger. Then I used the Rusk which seemed to fry my hair. I gave that to my mom since she has wavy hair and I got the CHI. The CHI seemed to work great until I dropped it a few times or forgot to turn it off and Now it is just the worst. My aunt got the Pink GHD and I used it for homecoming. I had honsetly never seen my hair so flat or shiny and it stayed like that for a long, long time. It is great too because it is very tough and it turns itself off after 30 minutes if not being used. The best part about it, is if you get tired of your straight hair, you can crimp it, wave it,flip it, and curl it! I use the Paul Mitchell Seal and Shine heat protector and my hair is so shiny, healthy, and I get so many comliments. I highly recommend this flat iron but search around for a more affordable price or see if your hair stylist could get it cheaper for you. Worth every penny.

Product Rating: 4 Works great, but not worth $250
Reviewer: Tiffany from Indianola, IA  Sat Nov 24 2007

I recently ruined my Paul Mitchell flat iron, which worked amazing but after reading reviews about its short life, I decided to take a chance since GHD got such great reviews. It came with a carrying case, a heat mat that attaches to the case, two pink clips to hold up your hair, and an instructional DVD. It took me a few times to get the hang of it because it is only one inch. It's not the lightest flat iron I have ever used but it cut my time down from 1 ½ hours to one hour. It heats up fast and I love that fact that it is dual voltage because I am overseas right now. I have black, ethnic hair so I have to do very small sections at a time. I never had to worry about that with Paul Mitchell. But on the plus side, I usually only have to go through each section once. I’m not completely convinced that it was worth the steep price.

Product Rating: 5 I LOVE MY GHD!!
Reviewer: Madeline from Columbus, Oh  Thu Oct 25 2007

This is a multi-purpose styling tool, not just a flat iron. The GHD is so easy to use! It really does create the most beautiful spiral curls and since it has the heat of a flat iron then the curls stay much longer. I use it everyday in the salon on every client, young or old, short or long hair, and everyone loves the end result. the best thing is it heats up in like 20 seconds!
