I purchased the GHD pink straightener after I had had enough of my Revlon ceramic straightener. So - going from a Walmart straightener to a high quality professional straightener I definately had extremely high expectations.
I was extremely impressed with the GHD - it makes my hair pin straight without killing the ends and it does not leave my hair dry. The accessories it comes with are also extremely useful - the mat is great because the iron gets extremely hot and there isn't any space between the plates and the material it is made of...basically, where ever you put it down will get toasty - so the mat is great.
The only negative commentary I have is related to the price - I am not sure it is worth the $255. I paid almost half of that for this straightener and probably would have been disappointed if I had paid full price for it. It isn't that the product isn't amazing - it's just that paying $255 dollars for a hair straightener seems a little ridiculous. That's just my 2 cents!
best ever. I am not kidding

I purchased and just received and used for the first time this ghd pink mk4. I am Mexican American. I have lots of thin, fragile, curly, frizzy hair -the kind that gets puffy and frizzy in the slightest bit of humidity. My hair is short, just above my shoulders. To straighten it (smooth or tame frizz) I was using the Jumbo curling iron. I've tried the Revlon ceramic hair straighter with the gold, sand papery plates and did not like the results; pulled my hair, damaged, didn't smooth evenly. I am highly impressed with this ghd because my hair did not get pulled at all. It felt as smooth as room temperature butter! It felt very gentle on my hair and it did smooth my hair in one stroke, just like the other reviewers expressed on this website. The iron is easy to handle. The protective counter mat and purse for the iron is cute and handy. The 2 pink hair clips are very nice. I did not find the instructional exceptionally helpful. The model's hair looked too "gunked" up with products and the instructions tell us to use at least four of their hair products prior to using the iron. I did not. I tried out (also for the first time) Paul Mitchell's Heat Seal after I washed my hair. Then let it air dry curly. The dvd tells us to blow dry before ironing for better results. My opinion for my hair fragile hair type is to skip the blow dry. Once my hair was completely dry I sectioned it and ironed it. This ghd mk4 very gently smoothed my hair quickly (took me 45 minutes -The iron did go into "sleep mode" at 30 minutes so I had to turn it off and on. I expect myself to get done quicker once I get the hang of it.) I am very impressed and feel the ghd successfully smoothed my hair. My hair is smooth and soft (- but not very shiny. I don't blame the lack of shine on the ghd. I will be seeking another thermal protecting product to try out. The Paul Mitchell's Heat Seal that I used, well, it does have alcohol in the product and so maybe it is too drying and left my hair a bit dull. Or maybe I need to add a product for shine... Hopefully I'll figure it out. I plan to give another review in the future to give a review on this iron's endurance and performance after being used for some time. And to say whether or not my hair repells frizz in humidity after being straightened.
From reading the other reviewers opinions I am asured that this is a high quality/manufactured iron and I am expecting it to last.
expected alot more.

I was expecting sooo much from this straightener from reviews, and people raving about GHDs. But I gotta say I was pretty disappointed. I feel like the CHI did better on me. Maybe if you don't have the thickest or wavy hair to begin with, this would work great. But, my hair is very thick and wavy.
Not worth the price. To me anyway.
Wow. Just wow.

I started straightening my hair about 3 months ago, and used a Remington Wet to Straight from the local drug store. Then I'd go through and use a fat curling iron to curl the ends a little. It took forever (over an hour), and I always had some wavy bits that wouldn't straighten right, and my hair was getting damaged from all the heat exposure.
I just bought the GHD styler, hoping it would work as well as the price suggests. WOW. Worth every penny. I was able to perfectly straighten my hair in maybe 10-15 minutes, and the styler was able to create my curled ends without having to switch tools. Keep in mind that I have THICK, just below shoulder length hair - my stylist always comments on how much hair I have. My hair feels soft and so much better than it did when I used the other irons. I am really glad to have bought this styler - it makes hair styling a pleasure instead of a chore. One pass and you're done - and the slim design means you get right to the root. It's great. (And it comes with cute, handy accessories!)
